During World War II, the silhouetted image of Bellerophon the warrior, mounted on the winged Pegasus, was adopted by the United Kingdom's newly-raised parachute troops in 1941 as their upper sleeve insignia. The image clearly symbolized a warrior arriving at a battle by air, the same tactics used by paratroopers. The square upper-sleeve insignia comprised Bellerophon/Pegasus in light blue on a maroon background. The insignia was designed by famous English novelist Daphne du Maurier, who was married to the commander of the 1st Airborne Division (and later the expanded British Airborne Forces), General Frederick "Boy" Browning. According to The British Army Website, the insignia was designed by Major Edward Seago in May, 1942. Parry Gripp (born September 22, 1967)^[1] is a singer-songwriter as well as lead vocalist and guitarist for the pop punk band Nerf Herder.

As a songwriter, Gripp is best known for fake jingles, as in his 2005 solo album For Those About to Shop, We Salute You - a 51-track concept album mimicking various musical styles as product commercials. While it does not have one single concept, it goes through many various concept suites, such as trucks, beer, and insomnia. He also maintains a song-of-the-week website and a YouTube channel on which he creates soundtracks to internet memes^[2] as well as music videos for his own novelty songs, with titles including "Do You Like Waffles?", "Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom", "Last Train to Awesometown", "Spaghetti Cat (I weep for you)", "Hamster on a Piano (Eating Popcorn)", "I Am A Banana" and "Baby Monkey (Going Backwards On A Pig)". Early years[link]

Ross Ryan was born December 13, 1950 in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, USA. The family moved to Albany, Western Australia in 1959. Ryan Was involved with music at his high school, Albany High, playing the lead in the musical, The Music Man and producing a radio program for the local station 6VA entitled "High School Half Hour." He also joined a number of local bands starting with The Sett and ending with Saffron.

Ryan moved to Perth and undertook an electronics course. This led to a job as an audio operator at television station STW 9. Using the facilities at the station, Ryan recorded his first album "Homemovies." The local Perth radio station 6PM began to play tracks from the album.

1970s[link]

After seeing one of Ryan's performances in 1972, Al Maricic, a freelance advertising agent approached him to discuss the possibility of managing him. Maricic got him regular gigs at Gramps Wine Bar and at university and college campuses. Ryan got his break when the proposed support act, comedian Joe Martin, pulled out of the tour in Darwin and Maricic got Ryan on the bill for the Perth concert for Roy Orbison. Ryan performed to 4,000 Roy Orbison fans, soliciting so much praise that the promoter booked him for the remainder of the tour.^[1]

Noted EMI producer, Peter Dawkins took a strong interest after reading concert reviews, especially in Sydney. Ryan consequently signed with EMI and commenced work on the first album which was released in 1973. A new album, 'One Person Queue' was released in October, 2003. In addition to his own solo shows across Australia, Ryan supported Carole King during her Australian tour and under the touring name of 'Idol and Idle' played a number of gigs with Australian Idol judge, Mark Holden. Heinz Rudolf Erich Arthur Kunze (born 30 November 1956 in Espelkamp-Mittwald, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a German writer and rock singer. His greatest hits were Dein ist mein ganzes Herz (not to be confused with the homonymous song from the operetta Das Land des Lächelns) and Mit Leib und Seele in 1985 and 1986.

Kunze was born on 30 November 1956 in the refugee camp Espelkamp near Minden. His family had been expelled from Guben (Niederlausitz, now partially Poland). His father, an officer for the Waffen-SS and long-time prisoner of war, had returned only in the same year.

In the 1980s, he rose to prominence as a singer. HRK, as he is often called, has also written books, and has translated musicals into German.

In 2002, Kunze narrated Piktors Verwandlungen, a 40 minute piece of the German band Anyone's Daughter after a fairy tale by German author Hermann Hesse, during a festival in honoring the late Nobel laureate in his home town Calw.

In the national selection for Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007, the singer/songwriter entered with "Die Welt ist Pop" (The World Is Pop), finishing 3rd.
