Coca-Cola has taken the lead in Interbrand's 2011 Best Global Brands report for the 12th consecutive year. While another brand leader Apple, with a brand value that increased a staggering 58 percent, is this year's top riser and, for the first time, it sits amongst the top 10 brands listed in the report. En los primeros días del mes en curso, la firma Interbrand, fundada en 1974 y especializada en investigar el valor de las principales marcas mundiales, dio a conocer los resultados del reporte Según lo asentado en el citado reporte, las actividades de siete de las 10 marcas más valiosas del mundo se inscriben en el imaginario de Internet y la economía del conocimiento: Apple, IBM, Google, Microsoft, General Electric, Intel y Samsung.
Estas son las 10 marcas más valiosas según Interbrand: 1. Coca Cola con 77 mil 839 millones de dólares (MDD), 2. Apple (76 mil 568 MDD), 3. IBM (75 mil 532 MDD), 4. Google ($69 mil 729 MDD), 5. Microsoft (57 mil 853 MDD), 6. General Electric (43 mil 682 MDD), 7. McDonalds (40 mil 062 MDD), 8. Intel (39 mil 385 MDD), 9. Samsung (32 mil 893 MDD), 10. Toyota (30 mil 280 MDD).
Si consideramos las 10 marcas más valiosas del mundo en 2011, podremos advertir sensibles cambios. Esas marcas fueron: 1. Coca Cola (71 mil 861 MDD), 2. IBM (69 mil 905 MDD), 3. Microsoft (59 mil 087 MDD), 4. Google (55 mil 317 MDD), 5. General Electric (42 mil 808 MDD), 6. McDonalds (35 mil 593 MDD), 7. Intel (35 mil 217 MDD), 8. Apple (33 mil 492 MDD), 9. Disney (29 mil 18 MDD), 10. HP (28 mil 419 MDD).
En la entrega correspondiente a 2012, por primera vez Interbrand reconoció a Apple y Google como marcas más valiosas que Microsoft.
Apple, que fue ubicada en la octava posición entre las 100 en 2011, pasó a la segunda posición en 2012. Google conservó la misma posición en ambos reportes. Sin embargo, Microsoft fue desplazada a la quinta posición.
A partir del reporte correspondiente al año de 2008 -Top 100 Most Powerfull Brands-, Millward Brown ha considerado a Google como una marca más valiosa que Microsoft, y por lo que respecta a Apple, su valor de marca superó el valor de la marca Microsoft a partir de 2010.
Los resultados que este año ofrece Interbrand, empiezan a observar significativas similitudes con respecto a los que en reportes similares sobre el valor de las 100 marcas más valiosas del mundo, ha venido ofreciendo en años recientes la firma Millward Brown. Sin embargo, entre ambos estudios prevalecen importantes diferencias.
Según el reporte Brandz Top 100 Most Valuable Brands 2012, que Millward Brown dio a conocer durante el primer trimestre del año en curso, estas son las 10 marcas más valiosas del mundo y su valor estimado: 1. Apple (189 mil 251 MDD), 2. IBM (115 mil 985 MDD), 3. Google (107 mil 857 MMD), 4. McDonalds (95 mil 188 MDD), 5. Microsoft (76 mil 651 MDD), 6. Coca Cola (74 mil 286 MDD), 7. Marlboro (73 mil 612 MDD), 8. AT&T; (68 mil 870 MDD), 9. Verizon (49 mil 152 MDD) y 10. China Mobile (47 mil 41 MDD).
Mientras que en su reciente reporte Interbrand consideró a Coca Cola como la marca más valiosa del mundo en 2012, en el estudio de Millward Brown, esa marca fue ubicada en la sexta posición entre las 100 marcas más valiosas del mundo. Además, Interbrand considera que el valor de ninguna marca en el mundo supera los 100 mil MDD.
En cambio Millward Brown estima que el valor de tres marcas (Apple, IBM y Google) es superior a 100 mil MDD -la primera marca cuyo valor fue estimado por en más de 100 mil MDD fue Google, en reporte de 2009-.
Una de las principales variables que determina sensibles diferencias en la metodología de ambas firmas es la reputación de las marcas, tema al Millward Brown dedica un apartado.
