Interview with Anatole Kaletsky
In this interview before his debate with Will Hutton on capitalism and the financial crisis, Anatole Kaletsky discusses his views on the future of Europe, and why, despite Germany's economic might and political machinations, he believes France will play the central role in a future, more federalised Europe. As governments take on more responsibility, but find themselves with less money to exercise these duties, Kaletsky outlines his vision of Europe as a much more complex and layered entity; unable to commit to full political and economic union, he explains why Britain will find itself hovering on the periphery of the Eurozone core, alongside states like Russia and Ukraine that are "too big to absorb and too big to ignore."

A Briefing with Anatole Kaletsky - What really matters in 2012?
Anatole Kaletsky's overall view was rather more optimistic than most in the audience anticipated. The strength in emerging markets, a recovering US economy and the fact that the European issues are already discounted, provided a positive platform.

GaveKal-Dragonomics 2Q10 London Seminar (Part 2/4)
The Return of Country Risk
In this part, Anatole Kaletsky argues that while everyone is worried that a hung parliament in the UK would destroy any chances of the government getting its fiscal outlook under control, history suggests otherwise. In fact, some of the most impressive fiscal turn-arounds in world history have been accomplished by divided governments. Moreover, since the UK started this crisis with relatively low debt levels, the UK has the opportunity to get public debt figures under control before they get out of control. Meanwhile, Anatole thinks the political environment in Washington is actually more troublesome for the US's fiscal outlook than the UK's.
