Kenneth Ray "Kenny" Rogers (born August 21, 1938) is an American singer, songwriter and record producer. He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Though he has been most successful with country audiences, he has charted more than 120 hit singles across various music genres, topped the country and pop album charts for more than 200 individual weeks in the United States alone and has sold over 120 million records worldwide, certifying his position as one of the best-selling music artists of all time. On September 25, 2015 he announced on NBC's "Today" Show that he was retiring from show business after a final tour to spend more time with his wife and twin boys.
Two of his albums, The Gambler and Kenny, are featured in the About.com poll of "The 200 Most Influential Country Albums Ever". He was voted the "Favorite Singer of All-Time" in a 1986 joint poll by readers of both USA Today and People. He has received numerous such awards as the AMAs, Grammys, ACMs and CMAs, as well as a lifetime achievement award for a career spanning six decades in 2003.
Kenneth Scott Rogers (born November 10, 1964 in Savannah, Georgia) is a former American Major League Baseball (MLB) left-handed pitcher. During a 20-year baseball career, he pitched from 1989 to 2008 for six different teams. In addition to being known for his fielding (winning five Gold Glove Awards), he pitched the fourteenth perfect game in major league baseball history. In 2008, he was the oldest baseball player in the American League.
Rogers is sometimes nicknamed "The Gambler", after a song made famous by a singer who shares his name.
Rogers grew up on a 15-acre (6.1 ha) farm in Dover, Florida.
He, his wife Rebecca Lewis, and children Jessica and Trevor Rogers reside in Westlake, Texas. He enjoys golf, fishing, and building houses for Habitat for Humanity.
Rogers was assigned to the Texas Rangers farm team after being drafted in the 39th round for $1,000 when he was 17 years old. He graduated from Plant City High School in Florida in 1982, where he played baseball only during his senior season, hitting .375 as a right fielder (he played shortstop in his senior league). He was converted into a pitcher on the strength of his throwing arm and left-handedness. Rogers spent seven years in the minor leagues before making it to the Rangers in 1989 as a reliever. He became a starting pitcher for the club in 1993.
Kenny Rogers is the title of Kenny Rogers' second solo album for United Artists Records, released worldwide in 1977. The album marked his first major solo success following the minor success of Love Lifted Me in 1976.
The album produced two singles. The first single, 1976's "Laura (What He's Got That I Ain't Got?)", peaked at #19. This song was originally a #1 country hit for Leon Ashley in 1967. In 1977, Kenny gained stardom with the single "Lucille", which climbed to the top of the country charts (both in the U.S. and Canada) and placing him squarely on the U.S. Hot 100 in the #5 position. It also blew open his solo career in the UK, reaching #1 there. Another track from the album is "I Wasn't Man Enough" which makes appearances on some of Rogers' greatest hits compilations in years to come.
The album reached #1 on the Country charts and ranked as high as #30 overall, and was certified Platinum in the U.S. (only reaching Gold in Canada).
A perfect game is defined by Major League Baseball as a game in which a pitcher (or combination of pitchers) pitches a victory that lasts a minimum of nine innings and in which no opposing player reaches base. Thus, the pitcher (or pitchers) cannot allow any hits, walks, hit batsmen, or any opposing player to reach base safely for any other reason: in short, "27 up, 27 down". The feat has been achieved 23 times in MLB history – 21 times since the modern era began in 1900, most recently by Félix Hernández of the Seattle Mariners on August 15, 2012.
A perfect game is also a no-hitter and a shutout. A fielding error that does not allow a batter to reach base, such as a misplayed foul ball, does not spoil a perfect game. Weather-shortened contests in which a team has no baserunners and games in which a team reaches first base only in extra innings do not qualify as perfect games under the present definition. The first confirmed use of the term "perfect game" was in 1908; the current definition of the term was formalized in 1991. Although it is possible for multiple pitchers to combine for a perfect game (as has happened 11 times at the major league level for a no-hitter), to date, every major league perfect game has been thrown by a single pitcher. In Nippon Professional Baseball, no-hitters or perfect games that use two or more pitchers are considered unofficial.
A perfect game is the highest score possible in a game of bowling, achieved by rolling a strike during every frame. In bowling games that use 10 pins, such as ten-pin bowling, candlepin bowling, and duckpin bowling, the highest possible score is 300, achieved by bowling 12 strikes in a row in a single game: one strike in each of the first nine frames, and three more in the tenth frame. Because a strike counts as ten pins plus any pinfall in the next two balls, 30 points are possible in a given frame.
In five-pin bowling, the highest possible score is 450, as a strike is worth 15 pins. It is rare to bowl or witness one. The Canadian Five Pin Bowlers Association approves from 10 to 40 perfect games per year.
Before a 300 game is recognized by the certifying body of the league or tournament, a series of tests are conducted by the local or regional bowling association. First, the bowler and league (or tournament) must be in good standing with the organization. In earlier years, the bowling ball(s) used in the scoring was taken for testing (hardness, weighting, and other aspects that would otherwise break the organization's regulations). Also, the lanes used in the scoring were shut down after the last game of the day was completed. The official then used a tape reader to test the oil condition, to make sure it met the organization's regulations. The data was then sent to the certifying body, and the score received final certification or not a few days to a few weeks later.
A Perfect game is a baseball win credited to a single pitcher that throws a complete game of at least nine innings without allowing any opponent to reach first base. This term may also refer to:
On July 28, 1994, Kenny Rogers of the Texas Rangers pitched the 14th perfect game in Major League Baseball history, blanking the California Angels 4-0 at The Ballpark at Arlington. Needing 98 pitches to complete his masterpiece, Rogers struck out eight batters. He also survived three-ball counts to seven Angel hitters. The perfect game is, as of 2014, the most recent no-hitter in Ranger history.
Rogers said he did not think about the perfect game until the ninth inning—and the bid was almost broken up one batter in. Rookie center fielder Rusty Greer preserved bid by making a diving catch of Rex Hudler's sinking line drive to right-center leading off the inning. Greer also caught Gary DiSarcina's fly ball for the game's final out.
Offensively for the Rangers, Jose Canseco hit two home runs. One of them came in the third inning and was on the front end of back-to-back homers with Iván Rodríguez, Rogers' catcher.
The perfect game came three years to the day of Dennis Martínez's perfect game, the last perfect game prior to this one, and made Rogers the third left-hander to pitch a perfect game, joining Sandy Koufax in 1965 and Tom Browning in 1988. It also came 10 years after the Angels' Mike Witt pitched his perfect game against the Rangers, that game taking place in The Ballpark's predecessor, Arlington Stadium. As of 2014, the Angels and Rangers are the only two teams to record perfect games against each other.

I'm angry
Yes I'm angry
Very angry
Two people living
Living together
They do the things they want
They think they're clever
But when they fight or play their silly tricks
When they fall in love it's only politics
(chorus) Politics...Politics, yeah
Politics, Politics, Politics
I'm frightened
Yes I'm frightened
Very frightened
The boy is frightened
He doesn't understand
He's in love with another man
And when they fight or play their silly tricks
When they fall in love it's only politics
(REPEAT CHORUS)
Now I see it
See it for what it is
What seems so personal is really politics
And when we fight or make ourselves sick
When we fall in love it's only politics
Politics, yeah
Politics, tics
Politics, tics tics tic tic tic tic
Politics, yeah
(REPEAT CHORUS)
What seems so personal is really politics
Politics
