Cara Williams (born June 29, 1925) is an American film and television actress. She is best known for her role as Billy's Mother in The Defiant Ones (1958), for which she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, and for her role as Gladys Porter on the television series Pete and Gladys, which ran from 1960-1962 and for which she was nominated for the Emmy Award for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy.
Born Bernice Kamiat in Flatbush, Brooklyn, the daughter of New York-born Florence "Flora" (née Schwartz 1897-1990), whose parents were Romanian Jewish immigrants, and Benjamin Kamiat, an Austrian Jewish immigrant. Benny Kamiat was a well-known figure in Brooklyn and a journalist for the Brooklyn Eagle. Her mother worked as a manicurist next to Brooklyn's Albee Theatre, where she would leave her daughter Bernice with the theatre owners to babysit. Young Bernice began making impersonations of all the screen stars she watched in the movies there, and knew she wanted to be an actress. Her parents divorced, and her mother relocated her to Los Angeles, where she chose Cara Williams as her stage name and attended the Hollywood Professional School. Soon, she began performing in radio and at the age of 16 in 1941, she was signed to a film contract and began performing in bit roles, credited as Bernice Kay.

The Old Gold Comedy Theater was an NBC anthology series that aired for the single 1944-1945 season. It was hosted by comedy star Harold Lloyd, of silent film fame, and featuring some of the biggest names from film and radio. The series was intended as a lighter version of The Lux Radio Theater, featuring half hour shows that were cut-down versions of successful comedy films from the time period. Despite Mr. Lloyd's best efforts, the presence of big-name movie and radio stars and the selection of successful films for scripting, the series did not last, perhaps due to the half-hour format. However, in today's time period they are quiet entertaining. It was also known as, The Old Gold Comedy Theater, Harold Lloyd Comedy Theater and The Comedy Theater Tonight's Comedy: Room Service With: Jack...

Here is a rare episode of Pete And Gladys from its original broadcast on May 22, 1961. This episode is sometimes known as the "Merry-go-round episode" because of a rotating platform of dummies where Gladys (Cara Williams) seeks to find a better outfit after being invited to Jay Tyler Livingston's house. Includes commercials for Goodyear. Note the obvious "I Love Lucy" reference with Peter (Harry Morgan).

Tonight my good friend and colleague Cara St. Louis returns to the show. Cara is an author and an alternative researcher. She has two great books out at the moment; one is The Sun Thief and her most recent title is Dangerous Imagination, Silent Assimilation. Cara just finished up The Great Remembering which is the first in a series of several workbook episodes she is planning on releasing which will pull back the curtain and expose the forbidden knowledge of the matrix. Tonight’s conversation with Cara is wide ranging as always. We talk about her research into the work of Anatoly Fomenko and his theory of phantom time where he posits, as does Cara, that huge chunks of what we think of and have been taught as true history - is complete fiction. We then delve into the parasitical force whi...

“Reincarnation” is the new short film created and directed by Karl Lagerfeld to accompany the CHANEL Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 Métiers d'art collection shown on December 2nd, 2014 in Salzburg. This new short film was the perfect opportunity for Karl Lagerfeld to develop an artistic collaboration with Pharrell Williams, a close friend of the House and personal friend of the designer. In fact, the artist composed and wrote the lyrics to "CC The World," the original soundtrack for Reincarnation, and he also plays one of the lead roles and will be, along with Cara Delevingne, the face of the upcoming campaign of the Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 Métiers d'art collection. In the revue "Playgirls". Who knew the delightful star of "Pete and Gladys" also had such musical talent TOO? (in addition to being an Oscar nominated dramatic actress). Why wasn't this girl in stage musicals?
