FICTION, 12min, HD, English & Tohono O'Odham (english subtitles), shot in Arizona (USA) J'ai réalisé ce court-métrage dans la réserve indienne des Tohono O'odham (sud de Tucson, Arizona). La disparition de leur langue m'est très vite apparue comme un enjeu crucial dans la conservation de leur culture. La préparation du tournage a été l'étape la plus complexe : il me fallait obtenir l'accord de la communauté, être sûr que le message délivré par le film soit en adéquation avec leur culture et leurs traditions. Et au delà de la barrière de la langue, c'est la différence de perception du monde, et de sa compréhension, qui a été le plus compliqué à gérer. Après avoir obtenu l'aval des autorités, il m'a fallu concevoir le scénario en français, puis en anglais, puis enfin en Tohono O'Odham (avec l'aide du professeur de langue du collège). Les deux acteurs sont avant tout mes amis, et c'est la première fois qu'il se soumette à ce type d'expérience. I shooted this short-film in the Tohono O'odham indien reservation (south Tucson, Arizona). The native language disappearing seems to me one of the most important issue regarding their culture preservation. The shooting preparation was the most complicated stage : I needed the community agreement, and be sure my message was more closer possible than their culture and tradition. And less the communication, that was the world perception and understanding which was the most difficult to manage. After had the chairman authorization, I wrote the script in french, then in english, and at least in Tohono O'odham (with the help of the language teacher from the college). The two unprofessional actors are my friends, and it's the first time they take part to this such experience.
