This is from the 1978 animated version of Lord of the Rings. This plays when Theoden, Aragorn and the rest of the soldiers of Rohan charge from the Glittering Caves through the lines of Orcs and attempt to fight them off, only realizing halfway through that they are surrounded. Just when it looks like, all hope is lost, Gandalf arrives with the Rohirrim and saves the day. It is at this point that this version of the film ends, as apparently funding had run out for Ralph Bakshi to completely finish the whole trilogy. The film itself may not have a lot of fans, but the music is surely well done. There are pieces from this soundtrack that I like much better than what was made for Peter Jackson's take on the trilogy. It was composed by the late Leonard Rosenman, who also composed scores for Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Star Trek IV The Voyage Home, and Robocop 2, among other films.
