Patriarch Alexy I (Alexius I, Russian: Патриарх Алексий I, secular name Sergey Vladimirovich Simanskiy, Russian: Сергей Владимирович Симанский; November 8 [O.S. October 27] 1877 – April 17, 1970) was the 13th Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus, Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) between 1945 and 1970.
Born in Moscow to a noble family, his father was a Chamberlain of the Russian Imperial Household. In 1899 he graduated from Moscow Imperial University with a law degree; was conscripted by the army and served in a grenadier regiment. In 1902 he enrolled at Moscow Theological Academy and by 1906 he had been elevated to the dignity of archimandrite and was appointed rector of the seminary at Tula.
After the Bolshevik Revolution he was arrested several times and in 1922 exiled to Kazakhstan. In 1926 he returned to Saint Petersburg (which had been renamed Leningrad) and was appointed Archbishop of Khutyn, that is, the vicar of the Diocese of Novgorod. He ran the diocese for much of the next seven years while Metropolitan Arsenius (Stadnitsky) was in prison or exile. In 1933 Alexius served briefly as Archbishop of Novgorod (for several months) and then metropolitan of Leningrad.
Moscow ( /ˈmɒskaʊ/ or /ˈmɒskoʊ/; Russian: Москва́, tr. Moskva; IPA: [mɐˈskva] (
listen)) is the capital and the most populous federal subject of Russia. The city is a major political, economic, cultural and scientific center of Russia and the continent. Moscow is the northernmost megacity on Earth, the most populous city in Europe, and the 6th largest city proper in the world. Its population, according to the results of the 2010 Census, is 11,503,501. Based on Forbes 2011, Moscow has the largest community of billionaires in the world.
Moscow is situated on the Moskva River in the Central Federal District of European Russia. In the course of its history the city has served as the capital of a progression of states, from the medieval Grand Duchy of Moscow and the subsequent Tsardom of Russia to the Soviet Union. Moscow is the site of the Moscow Kremlin, an ancient fortress that is today the residence of the Russian President and of the executive branch of the Government of Russia. The Kremlin is also one of several World Heritage Sites in the city. Both chambers of the Russian parliament (the State Duma and the Federation Council) also sit in Moscow.
Badr Hari born December 8, 1984 in Amsterdam, Netherlands is a Moroccan-Dutch super heavyweight kickboxer from the Netherlands, fighting out of Mike's Gym in Amsterdam. He is a former K-1 Heavyweight champion (2007—2008) and K-1 World Grand Prix 2009 finalist. As of May 2011, Hari is ranked the #2 heavyweight in the world by LiverKick.com. Hari has been a prominent figure in the world of kickboxing and considered one of the best kickboxers in the world, however he has been involved in a number of controversies relating to his "unsportsmanlike conducts" in the sport and alleged crimes of violence outside of the ring.
He was disqualified in the final match of the K-1 World GP 2008 Finals due to "unsportsmanlike conduct" against Remy Bonjasky. In May 2009 he knocked out Semmy Schilt in the first round and became the first ever It's Showtime World Heavyweight champion. However he lost this title when he was again disqualified after another unsportsmanlike conduct against Hesdy Gerges at the It's Showtime 2010 Amsterdam. Aside from the sport, he has been arrested multiple times since 2006 on various assault charges against others.
Alexey "The Red Scorpion" Ignashov (Belarusian: Аляксей Ігнашоў; born, January 18, 1978) is a Belarusian Super Heavyweight kickboxer. He is a four-time Muay Thai World champion, K-1 World GP 2003 in Paris and K-1 World GP 2001 in Nagoya tournament champion. He is currently living in Auckland, New Zealand and training at Balmoral Lee Gar Gym under Lollo Heimuli.
He is best known for his knee strikes, notably used to score knockout wins over Badr Hari, Semmy Schilt, Nicholas Pettas, and Carter Williams. Ignashov is considered by his fans to be one of the most talented and technically sound heavyweight kickboxers in the world. However, he is also considered by many frustratingly inconsistent, occasionally appearing lackluster or inactive in the ring, such as in his K-1 Final quarterfinal match against Peter Aerts in 2003. He suffered a knee injury in a fight against Bjorn Bregy in 2005. Since then, his performance has diminished.
Ignashov trained in the Chinuk gym for 11 years, before immigrating to New Zealand in 2006.
Alexey Korotylev (Russian: Алексей Коротылёв; born March 1, 1977) is a Russian chess Grandmaster.
In 2001 he tied for 1st–2nd with Semen Dvoirys at Geneva Open. In 2003 he tied for 2nd–4th with Vasily Yemelin and Alexander Rustemov in the Russian Chess Championship. In 2009, tied for 2nd–4th with Viorel Iordachescu and Sergei Tiviakov at Moscow Open.
