Poltergeist(1982) Movie Review 1/5
Part one of my review(This part is more of me ranting on who directed the film..Hooper Or Spielberg? I have no fucking idea..) of one of my all time favorites, Poltergeist(1982) starring Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Heather O' Rourke, Oliver Robins, Beatrice Straight, and Zelda Rubenstein. Directed by Tobe Hooper(Steven Spielberg?) Trivia The hands which pull the flesh off the investigator's face in the bathroom mirror are Steven Spielberg's. The weird way the family members descend the stairs at the beginning of the film was created by having the actors walk backward up the stairs and playing the film in reverse. The same effect was used later in the movie during the scene showing video playback of the ghosts. Steven Spielberg worked on Poltergeist and ET: The Extra-Terrestrial literally back to back. Principal photography on Poltergeist ended in August of 1981, then Spielberg took a few weeks off and began work on ET Spielberg also supervised the visual effects for both films simultaneously (which were produced at Industrial Light & Magic under the supervision of Richard Edlund and Dennis Muren). Once post production work on Poltergeist began in early 1982, Spielberg was in total control. He was responsible for the editing of the film (Spielberg's usual editor Michael Khan edited this film while Carol Littleton edited ET), the final sound mixes and loops, the supervision of the visual effects, and the selection of Jerry Goldsmith as the composer of the score ...

Poltergeist(1982) Movie Review 4/5
Part four of my review(In this part it's more of me reading a chapter of the Novelization than anything else..) starring Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Heather O' Rourke, Oliver Robins, Dominique Dunn, Beatrice Straight, and Zelda Rubenstein. Directed by Tobe Hooper. Trivia On top of the master bedroom television set sits an Atari Video Computer System console with its two joysticks; later known as the Atari 2600. When originally released in the UK the film was given an 'X' certificate, prohibiting anyone under 18 from seeing the film. This was due to a delay in the BBFC's introduction of the new '15' certificate (which replaced the old 'AA' rating), and UIP's wish to release the film as soon as possible. When the '15' certificate was introduced in August 1983 the film was re-rated. According to William Finley he was originally cast as Marty but replaced before filming. Zelda Rubinstein auditioned for the part of medium Tangina four times.

Poltergeist(1982) Movie Review 3/5
Part three of my review of one of all my all time favorite horror films, Poltergeist(1982) starring Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Heather O' Rourke, Oliver Robins, Dominique Dunn, Beatrice Straight, and Zelda Rubenstein. Directed by Tobe Hooper. Trivia Drew Barrymore was considered for the role of Carol Anne, but Steven Spielberg wanted someone more angelic. It was Barrymore's audition for this role, however, that landed her a part in ET: The Extra-Terrestrial. In reality, Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams are only 14 and 11 years older than Dominique Dunne, who plays their teen-aged daughter. Stephen King was briefly approached to write the screenplay. It would have been the first written by King directly for the screen, but the parties could not agree on the terms. When Steve Freeling first meets with the university paranormal specialists, he states that his wife, Diane Freeling, was "32" at the time, and their eldest daughter, Dana, was "16". Thus, Diane was only sixteen years-old when she gave birth to Dana. Though on-screen credit goes to Tobe Hooper, a wealth of evidence suggests that most of the directorial decisions were made by Steven Spielberg. In fact, Spielberg had wanted to direct the film himself, but a clause in his contract stated that while still working on ET: The Extra-Terrestrial, Spielberg could not direct another film. Members of the cast and crew, including Executive Producer Frank Marshall and actress Zelda Rubinstein, have stated that ...

Poltergeist(1982) Movie Review 5/5
Part five of my review(More like where I read another excerpt from the Poltergeist novelization by James Kahn..) starring Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Heather O' Rourke, Oliver Robins, Dominique Dunn, Beatrice Straight, and Zelda Rubenstein. Directed by Tobe Hooper. Trivia The house that gets sucked into a black hole at the end was actually a model about four feet across. The model took several weeks to complete. The shot was arranged with the camera placed directly above model, which was mounted over an industrial strength vacuum generator (the front door was facing directly up, straight at the camera). The model also had about 100 wires attached to various points of the structure. These wires went down through the back of the house, and down through the vacuum collection sack. The camera was turned on, and took 15 seconds to wind up to the required 300 frames per second. The vacuum was turned on, the wires were yanked, and several SFX guys blasted the house with pump-action shotguns. The entire scene was over in about two seconds, and they had to wait until the film was developed before they knew if they would have to do it again. Luckily, they got it right on the first take. The finished scene was sent to Steven Spielberg, who was on location shooting ET: The Extra-Terrestrial. He gave it to a projectionist, who assumed it was dailies from ET and was startled by the images. Spielberg had the remains of the model encased in perspex, and it is now sitting on his ...

Mani Nasry an exceptionally talented filmmaker, actor and artist with a sophisticated breadth of education, skills, experience, and professional accomplishments. He trained as an actor and director in New York with Salem Ludwig and with Donna DeMatteo for playwriting. For Mani, the decision to work in the film industry guided his academic decisions from an early age. He attended a Toronto high school renowned for excellence in the arts, and was accepted into one of the highly competitive film program at Ryerson university. It is notable that he went to Ryerson with an already well-established career in theatre, film, television and commercial work, and a range of multi-faceted achievements including producing, cinematography, casting, writing, directing, acting, and editing. On his own he added stints in New York and Los Angeles with leading acting teachers, as well as learning the grace and style of many forms of dance and athletics. With courses perceptively, he has also recognized the importance of acquiring an understanding of the business side of the industry, and the varied aspects of technology and production. There are some people clearly born to follow the path they have chosen from the start. Mani Nasry has the passion to succeed, the curiosity and ingenuity required to lead and collaborate in an industry known for its impact and appeal, and the strength of character and work ethic to immerse himself in finding and telling an unforgettable story.

The Box and Dox spend their entire lives sitting on the couch in front of the TV. Both are afflicted with a very powerful addiction to television. This addiction plays out in their behaviors and reactions, which are polar opposites of each other. The Box uses the TV to fall asleep, while Dox is a victim of his unstoppable instinct of channel surfing. They both need TV, albeit for different purposes.
Falling into his habitual deep sleep, The Box loses contact with reality, letting himself go completely into the dream world. This is where the character’s rational mind makes room for the unknown and unknowing world of his subconscious.
The Box’s brain, like an unprotected fortress, lies defenseless as it is accosted by dangerous outside stimuluses. The TV’s audio signal is the enemy that creeps in between the cognitive synapses of the sleeping protagonist, influencing his dreams and controlling his consciousness.
The Box, like a sponge, passively absorbs all the audio stimuluses that come from the outside; reworking them and unknowingly transmitting them back into reality as interactive hallucinations uncontrolled and interacting freely with their surrounding environment...

Poltergeist (1982) Dir: Tobe Hooper UMV 10165 MGM / UA Home Video PAL VHS This did originally come with a cast card, which I don't own. Please check out this link for a look at a copy with that: www.youtube.com and a Youtuber who really knows his VHS! "Everyone is saying it: Poltergeist is one of the most thrilling films ever made! Fascinating, frightening, as suspenseful as they come, this is high-voltage, jolt-a-minute-film-making at its compelling best." "Producer Steven Spielberg here presents the best in modern cinema ...director Tobe Hoope's extraordinary ultra-fantastic excursion into the supernatural. Thanks to the special effects wizardry of George ("Star Wars" Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic. Poltergeist delivers a non-stop spectacle of visual effectsyou simply have to see to believe. It's pure magic... and incredible fun!" "Life is very pleasant for a California family... until a host of other-wordly forces invade their peaceful suburban home. It starts with just an odd occurence or two, but soon their house is turned into a swirling supernatural sideshow. The forces at work are anything but friendly - and if the luckless family doesn't soon clear out, they'll all be swept off into nightmarish chaos!" "Astounding, completely absorbing, Poltergeist is "A work of art... Full of spine-snapping chills!" (Time)"

Jerry Goldsmith - POLTERGEIST (1982) - Soundtrack Suite
This suite is a collaboration between DJReborn1980 and myself... and is a tribute to a great and unforgotten artist: Jerry Goldsmith So active was Steven Spielberg's imagination in the early 1980's that he couldn't contain himself and release ET The Extra-Terrestrial and Poltergeist successively. In the process of directing the former and dominating the latter in 1982, he created more controversy with the concurrent projects than necessary. The famed director and producer both created the concept of Poltergeist and managed each of its production elements from start to end. A completely normal family in a suburban house becomes the progressive target of poltergeists associated with the spirits of those in the cemetery that was supposed to have been relocated to accommodate the sub-development. The spirits' revenge eventually includes the kidnapping of the family's youngest daughter and, after her successful rescue, the house is literally sucked into a void and chaos breaks out in the whole neighborhood. For expediency, Spielberg had horror veteran Tobe Hooper direct the film (despite being on set for practically all major shoots) and this decision proved problematic by the time Spielberg was writing public letters in the newspaper trying to convince a skeptical public that Hooper had any input into Poltergeist at all. No matter the extent of his involvement, Poltergeist was a Spielberg film through and through, and with his usual collaborating composer, John Williams, also ...
