Lashkar Express cautiously passes through Chambal river bridge
More than 2hrs late weekly 12161 LTT-Agra Cantt Lashkar Express cautiously passes through Chambal river bridge.it was a very bizarre thinking by officials at Morena & Hetampur station, what actually happened & was the reason for so much delay was that 2 freights were left from Morena ahead of Lashkar Express(just before Lashkar Express could arrive at Morena) & that too at very close interval due to which in order to make Lashkar Express overtake them one freight was stopped at Hetampur station & the second freight at Dhaulpur station. Now the freight held at Hetampur station was so long that there wasn't any loop line that could allow Lashkar Express bypass it.Finally the officials at Hetampur station decided to detach the loco of the freight & let it go till Dhaulpur & come back because the entire goods train would not be accommodated at Dhaulpur also.So the loco left alone till Dhaulpur & returned back which one can see in this video going back alone towards Hetampur, result Lashkar Express finally reached Agra more than 3hrs late because later it had to overtake the first freight at Dhaulpur through the loop line or the platform line resulting in further delay.Wonder why simple things become so difficult for our railways officials

A lazy crocodile in the river Chambal
Our camera trapped this lazy crocodile in the middle of the river Chambal. The Chambal River is a tributary of the Yamuna River in central India, and forms part of the greater Gangetic drainage system. The river flows north-northeast through Madhya Pradesh, running for a time through Rajasthan, then forming the boundary between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh before turning southeast to join the Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh state. It is a legendary river and finds mention in ancient scriptures. The perennial Chambal originates at Manpura, south of Mhow town, near Indore, on the south slope of the Vindhya Range in Madhya Pradesh. The Chambal and its tributaries drain the Malwa region of northwestern Madhya Pradesh, while its tributary, the Banas, which rises in the Aravalli Range, drains southeastern Rajasthan. It ends a confluence of five rivers, including the Chambal, Kwari, Yamuna, Sind, Pahuj, at Pachnada near Bhareh in Uttar Pradesh state, at the border of Bhind and Etawah districts. 12192 Jabalpur-New Delhi Shridham express crosses the mighty Chambal bridge between Morena & Dholpur on Gwalior-Agra section. The train was going at its MPS, hauled by an ET WAP-4. Enjoy the high speed bridge sounds :) I will be uploading only 3-4 high speed door plating videos from now.Learning a lesson from the incident which occured with my late railfan friend Swapnil David,I have decided to quit doorplating at high speeds for my future rail fannings :( Date: 8th June 2012; Camera: Canon IXUS 105 IS; Time: 6:43:38 AM

Yamuna, Chambal rivers in spate in UP - NewsX
The Yamuna and Chambal rivers in Uttar Pradesh are in spate following heavy discharge of water from several barrages and are threatening to flood low-lying areas, officials said Saturday. A steamer service ferrying people across Chambal has been suspended after the water level began rising abruptly Friday. The steamer plied between Pinahat in Agra to Morena in Madhya Pradesh, 75 km from here. The river has swelled due to the releasing of water from the Kota barrage in Rajasthan, sub-divisional magistrate Ramji Lal said. The Yamuna too is in spate. The water level in Agra is increasing after discharges from barrages upstream. For more log on to www.newsx.com

Scissors Crossing before Chambal Bridge - Trivandrum Rajdhani (Aug. 1995)
At that time, there was just one single-tracked bridge across the Chambal river. Hence, the presence of a scrissors crossing on the North end. This was used by Southbound trains (towards Morena) waiting for bridge clearance.

Crocodile Blues
The Gharial is one of the world's most magnificent reptiles. This 20 foot 2000lb fish-eater crocodile evolved with the dinosaurs, and its 150 million year reign in rivers throughout the world, from Spain to Japan, has made it one of the most successful species the planet has ever seen. Today its future hangs by a thread. In September 2007 the Gharial was officially recognized as "Critically Endangered" by the IUCN, meaning it was now one small step away from extinction in the wild. Its numbers had decreased to around 200 breeding adults in only a handful of rivers in India and Nepal.
Then in December 2007 on the Chambal River Sanctuary in northern India Gharial began dying in mysterious circumstances. The next five months saw the death of over 100 animals, or nearly 10% of the entire wild population. And no-one had any idea of the cause.
Since the 1970s the future of the Gharial has been championed by herpetologist and conservationist Romulus Whitaker. Rom is one of the world's foremost reptile experts, and from his base at the Madras Crocodile Bank has done as much as anyone on the planet to save India's threatened reptiles. And he has been a key player in responding to this crisis.
This film follows Rom's progress throughout 2008. Can his team solve the mystery of the calamitous die-off? How successful will his attempts be to secure the safety of the species with a pioneering captive-breeding programme? And will the Gharial in India's other major sanctuary cope with human pressures, habitat destruction and a disasterous monsoon flood?
With these events unfolding over the last twelve months Crocodile Blues is an urgent account of one man's struggle to save one of the planet's most remarkable animals. With footage of behaviour that has never been seen before, and may never be seen again, Crocodile Blues is a wildlife documentary that matters.
