History of Environmentalism
Robert J. Smith, Director of the Center for Private Conservation, explains in this short video how the modern environmentalist movement began in America. A celebrated author and environmental historian, Smith shows how the antiwar movement during the 1960s evolved into an anti-capitalism movement that pushed for public stewardship of the environment. If Star Wars was made by environmentalists..
What if the movie star wars was written by environmentalists? endciv.com The film makers says- Derrick Jensen speaks, and my world view has never been the same since. Unlike the other speakers, Derrick did not talk about about solar panels or wind turbines. He spoke of our cultures systematic destruction of the planet and of the failure of the environmental movement. After hearing his talk, I immediately sought out his books and the first seeds of END were planted. The Star Wars piece is one of Derricks best analogies, one that delivers a precise critique of mainstream environmental groups. Directed by Franklin López, Motion Graphic support by pussykrew . The Anti-Human Mindset Of Environmentalists
Talk to an environmentalist long enough, and eventually they will reveal their contempt for humans. The proof is in this exclusive clip from the forthcoming movie "Not Evil Just Wrong." "They care more about fish eggs than they do about children," said Patrick Moore, a co-founder of Greenpeace.

For Environmentalism to Succeed, It Needs to Go Away
Complete video at: fora.tv Environmentalist David Suzuki expresses his hope that environmentalism will be absorbed into the public consciousness. "Environmentalism shouldn't be a specialty, or an area of expertise," says Suzuki. "It's a way of seeing ourselves in the world, and seeing that we are utterly dependent on the natural world for our survival and well-being." ----- The environmental movement in Australia was the first in the world to become a political movement and Australia was home to the world's first Green Party. Australian public opinion and policies have been swayed in the past on crucial issues such as land conservation and nuclear power, but what about climate change? What is the environmental movement doing right and where is it failing? At a packed theatre at Melbourne's "Sustainable Living Festival", an extraordinary line up of panelists debate how the environmental movement can best negotiate the most critical global issue it has faced to date... climate change. - Australian Broadcasting Corporation Award-winning geneticist and broadcaster David Suzuki is the Foundation's co-founder with Tara Cullis. He is familiar to audiences around the world as host of CBC TV's long-running series, The Nature of Things. From 1969 to 2001 he was a faculty member at the University of British Columbia, and is currently professor emeritus. He has authored over 40 books, and is widely recognized as a world leader in sustainable ecology.

The Death of Environmentalism
In 2004, Ted Nordhaus and Michael Shellenberger sparked a firestorm of controversy with their essay "The Death of Environmentalism." In it, they argued that the politics used to help reduce acid rain and smog would not work to diminish global warming. Environmentalism must die, they said, so that something new can be born. Journalism professor Michael Pollan talks to the authors about their new book, Break Through -- a conversation about how best to address the threat of global warming and the larger failure of American liberalism to reinvent itself. "The Skeptical Environmentalist": A Conversation with John Tierney and Bjorn Lomborg
"The thing that blows my mind is that we spend so much money on feeling good," says author and activist Bjorn Lomborg about "feel-good" environmentalist measures like recycling and wind turbines, "I would like us to do stuff that actually works." The Reason Foundation hosted a conversation with Lomborg and the New York Times' John Tierney at the Museum of Sex in New York City, where they discussed how free trade and innovation could help alleviate the suffering of the third world and improve the environment, if only people could be convinced these "unsexy" ideas were of greater benefit than sorting the glass and plastic in their garbage. Lomborg, the author of "The Skeptical Environmentalist" and the subject of the documentary film "Cool It," is also the founder and director of the Copenhagen Consensus, a Danish think-tank focused on finding the "the best ways for governments and philanthropists to spend aid and development money." Environmentalism Is the New Religion - Ian Plimer
Complete video at: fora.tv Australian geologist Ian Plimer argues that, for many agnostics and atheists, the cause of environmentalism has replaced organized religion as a matter of personal faith. ----- While the world's religions have inspired stunning acts of creation, they also have been implicated in some of the darkest deeds in human history. If God cannot be blamed for such moments of evil, His priests and prophets at least have a case to answer. So what might they say? That religion is unfairly blamed -- and that we should look to other factors? Admit that there are problems but argue that on balance the good outweighs the bad? That there is no alternative; that people need religion like they need air? - Intelligence Squared Ian Plimer is Emeritus Professor of Earth Sciences at the University of Melbourne and Professor of mining geology at the University of Adelaide. He is a prominent critic of creationism, and is famous for a debate with creationist Duane Gish in which he asked his opponent to hold live electrical cables to prove that electromagnetism was 'only a theory'. He has published over 120 academic papers and six popular books. He is also a prominent member of the Australian Skeptics. In 2004 he was awarded the Calrk Medal by the Rioyal Society of NSW. In the late 1990s, Plimer was involved in legal proceedings concerning the location of Noah's Ark, in which Plimer was ultimately unsuccessful. His most recent book, Telling Lies For God, has a forward by ...

Robert Zubrin: Radical Environmentalists and Other Merchants of Despair
"We have never been in danger of running out of resources," says Dr. Robert Zubrin, "but we have encountered considerable dangers from people who say we are running out of resources and who say that human activities need to be constrained." In his latest book, Merchants of Despair: Radical Environmentalists, Criminal Pseudo-Scientists, and the Fatal Cult of Antihumanism, Zubrin documents the history of dystopian environmentalism, from economic impairment inflicted by current global warming policies to the Malthusian concern over population growth. "Just think how much poorer we would be today if the world would have had half as many people in the 19th century as it actually did. You can get rid of Thomas Edison or Louis Pasteur, take your pick." Zubrin sat down with Reason Magazine Editor Matt Welch to discuss his book, the difference between practical and ideological environmentalism, and how US foreign aid policy encourages population control. Oil'd
In April 2010 a massive oil spill began in the Gulf. The entire country was glued to the news until the well was capped, and then we forgot about it.
As the year anniversary was approaching I became curious, just how much oil was that exactly? Where would it have gone? What I found was shocking.
So in an effort to further our discussion on oil dependency I created this short animation to help illustrate just how dependent we truly are on oil.

Coalition Of The Willing
'Coalition of the Willing' is a collaborative animated film and web-based event about an online war against global warming in a 'post Copenhagen' world.
‘Coalition of the Willing’ has been Directed and produced by Knife Party, written by Tim Rayner and crafted by a network of 24 artists from around the world using varied and eclectic film making techniques. Collaborators include some of the world’s top moving image talent, such as Decoy, World Leaders and Parasol Island.
The film offers a response to the major problem of our time: how to galvanize and enlist the global publics in the fight against global warming. This optimistic and principled film explores how we could use new Internet technologies to leverage the powers of activists, experts, and ordinary citizens in collaborative ventures to combat climate change. Through analyses of swarm activity and social revolution, 'Coalition of the Willing' makes a compelling case for the new online activism and explains how to hand the fight against global warming to the people.
