Discovering the Soul of Shenzhen
In February 2012, my fiancé, Bob James, was invited to attend a two-day meeting in Shenzhen China and I went along. Given an English-speaking, informal guide from the company while he worked; she, her friend, and I had an amazing cultural exchange, visiting sights and discussing everything from parenting to travel to some of our governments' policies. In Angel, I found a truly lovely, well-spoken, and progressive friend. In 1979, economic and social revolutionary Deng Xiaoping created Shenzhen as China's first Special Economic Zone in what, at the time, was a small fishing village. With a policy of openness and reform, it has enjoyed much foreign investment and great economic prosperity, the likes of which are rare in china—and its inhabitants just as rare. Because it is known as a center of manufacturing and business, and lacks much in the way of historic sights (although it does have a plethora of newly-built eccentric theme-parks!), Shenzhen is often skipped by international tourists. With all the steel, concrete, and construction cranes everywhere, I set out to answer the question, "what does the soul of this young city look like?" and I found it—in the beautiful Feng Shui and it's lovely, dynamic, proud people. Here Angel and Terry (their chosen Western-names) show me the Feng Shui design of the city center. The truly ENORMOUS scale of this city is lost in the video. We could not even read the numbers on the cones until I turned on the video camera.... I hope you ...

$120 iPad2-clones in Shenzhen China
Bill from 1pad.cn presents an example of the $120 iPad2 copies that are being sold on the Shenzhen Huaqiangbei Electronics Market, and that are being spread as the most popular 9.7" tablet being sold in China, which is the fastest growing tablet and smartphones market. The ARM processors being used are currently mostly the Boxchip A10 and RockchipRK2918 which now have extremely smooth graphics accelerated Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich support. The actual performance of these are above iPad1 and slightly below iPad2, yet they include features such as the HDMI output, USB Host, MicroSD card slots and they run Android software which easily supports as many pirated apk apps as one wants to transfer to the device and install without rooting (of course, Chinese people don't want to pay the normal prices for apps as people do on the European Google Play marketplace). But these tablets do come with the full Google Play Marketplace pre-installed so users can use that if they want. It also comes with a bunch of alternative Chinese marketplaces where all the apks are always free.

NASVAY in China (Shenzhen and Guangzhou). Winter 2012
Lifestyle video by Alexey Lapin
"NASVAY в Китае" - лайфстайл видео от Леши Лапина со съемок NASVAY PROMO зимой '12, куда помимо зарисовок из жизни российских скейтеров в китайском туре вошли трюки, не прошедшие "фейсконтроль" в основное видео.
That's my first video ever. Done in two weeks during our stay in the South of China (Shenzhen and Guangzhou)this winter. I know this video is far from superiority, there are some problems with shaking, exposure, colors etc, but it's just a first try, so don't judge me strictly!
Big thanks to Pasha Kryukov for helping me with editing and usefull tips and advice how to film better, NASVAY guys and all other people i've met or filmed on this amazing journey to the East!
