The Biggest Tree on Earth is Bigger Than Your Imagination
Trees are life-givers for many reasons. Trees are generally ignored by many, some of them have been revered for their height. There is various height that the trees grow and some have an amazing ability to grow more than 400ft in height. Here are the top 20 biggest trees on earth.

Growing and propagating Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens) in zone 7 North Carolina
Did you know redwoods can be grown in North Carolina? It’s true! And it can all start from a tiny cutting.... 🌱
As a propagator, Sequoia sempervirens were my favorite plant to produce. They aren’t particularly difficult, though they do take a long time. It was more about the shock and awe factor this is massive, long lived tree could have its start in my hands🙏

Growing in Norway! Sequoiadendron giganteum (Giant Redwood), Sequoia sempervirens (Coastal Redwood)
Redwood trees can be grown in Norway, atleast in some very favourable locations like the botanical gardens in Bergen. Here at latitude 60 North you would not expect to find trees native to California, US - but the Gulf Stream makes it possible. The ocean current brings warm waters from the Gulf of Mexico, across the Atlantic Ocean, and creates a very mild climate along the western coast of Norway relative to the latitude.

Trees are life-givers for many reasons. Trees are generally ignored by many, some of them have been revered for their height. There is various height that the trees grow and some have an amazing ability to grow more than 400ft in height. Here are the top 20 biggest trees on earth.
1. Centurion
Centurion earns the title of the second tallest tree species in the world. Located in the southern region of Tasmania, Australia, Centurion itself stands at a height of 327 feet or 99.6 meters--with a trunk diameter of 13.3 feet or 4.05 meters. This is a lucky coincidence that Centurion has survived. Wildfires in 1934 spared just a few older trees in this area and passed on the west side. In 1950 there was logging nearby and at that time this giant tree would not be spared.
2. The Monkey Pod tree
The monkeypod tree of the Samanea saman is a landscape tree having a massive shade. This biggest tree on earth is mostly native to tropical America. The crown of the monkeypod can have an overall diameter of around two hundred feet. The wood of this tree can be easily turned into carvings, bowls, or platters and is commonly sold or displayed in Hawaii. The pods of this big tree have a sticky brown pulp that is often used for feeding cattle in Central America. The monkeypod grows pink flowers that resemble powder puffs. These flowers are pollinated by insects and will develop edible seed pods about 4 to 8 inches in length.
3. The Doerner Fir
The name refers to a specific Douglas fir found in Coos County. While it’s not the tallest tree in the world, the Doerner Fir does measure as the tallest non-redwood tree in the world. This Douglas fir measures 327 feet or 99.7 feet tall and almost made it the tallest tree in the world. What’s more, the Doerner Fir is about 500 years old--making it not only huge but also one of the oldest trees in the world. Douglas Firs has already grown to be rather tall, on average 70 to 300 feet or 20 to 100 meters tall. However, Great Basin Bristlecone pine is also recorded as the oldest tree in the world, estimated between 4700-5000 years-old.
4. Kauri Tree
This New Zealand mammoth tree is one of the biggest trees in the world and Kauri forests are some of the most ancient. Tane Mahuta, New Zealand’s largest Kauri is 51 meters high and has a circumference of 13.8 meters. Its name in Maori means “Lord of the Forest” and is estimated to be up to 2,500 years old. Maori used kauri timber for boat building, carving and building houses. The gum was used as a fire starter and for chewing. The arrival of European settlers in the 1700s to 1800s saw the decimation of these magnificent forests.
5. Giant Sequoia Tree
Also known as the Sierra Redwood, these amazingly tall trees occur naturally only on the west coast of the United States. This giant sequoia growing as high as 85 meters and as wide as 8 meters in diameter, redwood trees and their forests is popular tourist attractions, thanks to their epic proportions. The tallest and most famous of the redwoods, the General Sherman tree, is located in California’s Sequoia National Park and is believed to be over 2,000 years old.
6. Baobab Tree
Found across the savannahs of Africa, this unique tree has inspired many nicknames from bottle tree to upside-down tree to the Tree of Life. Its sturdy, stout, fire-resistant trunk can be as wide as 11 meters and often hollow, which provides living space for animals as well as humans— one interesting fact is some trees have even been turned into barns or bars! Known to be as many as 2,000 years old, Sunland baobab trees are thought to have mythical protective powers.
7. White Knight
At just shy of 90 meters registered height, this is one of the last remaining examples of an ultra-sized white peppermint. While they are non-unfamiliar in the northeastern Tasmanian forests, there are few places left to see them like a giant. You can easily visit this magnificent giant tree and its grove of other massive trees at Mathinna near Avoca, east of Launceston. These are a series of super trees that grow at Ever Creech Forest Reserve and are said to be located here for over 300 years. The white knight is known to reach a height of 91.3m.
Why are tall trees good? Do you know any tall trees in your area that you want to add? Please let us know in our comment below.

They are such a remarkable tree- perhaps the most spectacular North American native. They are the sole living species of the genus Sequoia, which resides in the family Cupressaceae family, though I learned it as Taxodiaceae.
Commonly referred to as the California redwood, these evergreen, monoecious conifers can live 1,200–1,800 years or more!
Generically “redwoods” include the tallest living trees on the planet. Sequoia sempervirens can grow to 380’ tall, not including the roots! The trunks can be up to 30’ in diameter at breast height! 🌲
Sequoia sempervirens are also among the oldest living things on Earth. And you can have one in your garden, at least in zones 6-9.
The name sequoia sometimes causes some confusion, as it refers to the subfamily Sequoiodeae, which includes S. sempervirens along with Sequoiadendron giganteum, the giant sequoia and Metasequoia glyptostroboides, the dawn redwood. All of these trees are awesome, but beware, Sequoiadendron does NOT like life in central NC- I’ve tried too many times to count. I think it’s the humidity and high night temperatures, or maybe it just rains too much here?

Join me in Aberystwyth, A holiday resort on the west coast of Wales. It is also home to the University of Wales Aberystwyth and the National Library. The town is nestled between three hills and two beaches and hosts some castle ruins, a pier and a harbour. The surrounding hills hold the visible remains of an iron age fort and also a monument to Wellington and once climbed offer stunning views of Cardigan Bay. Aberystwyth is a University town with some seven thousand students, ensuring it a vibrant throughout the year and not just during summertime.
The seafront hosts Victorian / Edwardian buildings mostly 4/5 stories high. The wide promenade protects the buildings from the revenge of the Irish Sea and offers space to sit, soak up the sun and view the surrounding hills and mountains which in winter are often covered in snow. On a clear day, you may see the tallest mountain in Wales, Snowdon.
The harbour was once one of the busiest in Wales and is fed by the rivers Ystwyth and Rheidol (which incidentally, is the steepest river in Britain). Geographically, Aberystwyth may be considered isolated from the rest of Wales. However, this isolation made it necessary for the local people to look after themselves and over the years it has acquired more resources than a town of this size would normally have. It is now the centre of local rural life and is visited by many to sample the numerous cafes, bars, and restaurants including, Chinese, Indian, Italian and Mediterranean cuisine.

Borth to Aberystwyth. Epic coastal Walk .Welshbloke Walking
Welcome to Borth—a hidden gem nestled along the stunning coast of Ceredigion, Wales. This quaint seaside town, with its uniquely long main street, is a charming blend of history and character.
As we stroll down the street, we're greeted by rows of cottages and houses, each one a testament to the town's rich architectural heritage. The buildings boast unusual old designs, and their vibrant and surprising color schemes add to the town's distinctive charm. It's a place where past and present coexist in perfect harmony, creating a visual feast for the eyes.
The town gently curves around a long, picturesque bay, offering breathtaking views that draw visitors from near and far. Borth's beach, though stony, is a beloved retreat for those seeking the simple pleasures of the seaside. and from here, we can see on top of the hill, the Borth war memorial which will be the starting point for this walk, and ending here at the Beacon on Craig Glais, also known as Constitution hill, towering over Aberystwyth
But first, as Dylan Thomas so aptly put it, we need to "begin at the beginning." That means ascending the hill before us and making our way to the official start point—the War Memorial.
And there it is. We've officially begun our journey—only ten and a half kilometers to go! Let’s head this way.
Our first task, after climbing up from sea level, is to descend all the way back down to it on the other side.
There we have it—our first ascent and descent completed. If you look back, you can just make out the War Memorial in the distance. But now, it’s time to climb once more.
Reaching the top, I’m rewarded with a truly magnificent sight. The national bird of Wales, the once rare and endangered Red Kite, or Barcud, is soaring above, a symbol of resilience as it makes its triumphant return to these skies.
This first hill may not be the highest, but the panorama it offers is nothing short of breathtaking—just take a look.
Now, let’s get back on the trail and be sure to keep a safe distance from the edge.
As I pass through the gate, my eyes catch a plaque inscribed with a quote from John Deans: "It's almost perfect." I have to admit, I have no idea who John Deans is, but it’s hard to argue with his sentiment. For those who follow my channel, you’ll know that hill steps are not exactly my favorite. But on this walk, I’ve got no choice but to embrace them.
Now, as we descend back to sea level, an incredible sight emerges before us—a grand manor house, perched right on the beach, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. This is Wallog House, the centerpiece of the historic Wallog Estate. Just opposite, you’ll see Sarn Gynfelyn, or Gynfelyn’s Causeway, a natural structure jutting out into the sea. It’s described as an Ice Age moraine which stretches 14 kilometers, but according to local legend, it is actually a causeway to Cantre’r Gwaelod, an ancient Welsh kingdom that was onundated by the sea.
Wallog House itself was built in the 19th century and to this day remains a private residence, though the coastal path closely skirts the property. As we walk along the path, You can see how the manor and it's garden is shielded from the fierce Ceredigion waters by a massive sea wall. And further along, just to the right, there’s a stone structure This is an old lime kiln, where limestone was burned to produce quicklime, used to treat the acidic soils of the Wallog Estate.
And there it is—the final hill.
Signage has been plentiful on this walk, and this particular one reassures me I’m on the right track. Beautiful flowers continue to line the path—not all of them wild!
The weather shows no sign of letting up as the rain is now accompanied by a gusty wind. I need to watch my step, as the wet conditions have brought out quite a few slugs. Chunky little guy, isn’t he?
Despite the filthy weather, the wildflowers keep brightening the journey.
And here we are—the official end of the walk: the beacon on Craig Glais.
All that’s left now is to capture a decent shot of Aberystwyth below. My best vantage point seems to be down there.
At least there’s some shelter from the wind here... and a nice, warm, dry café.
Let’s take a look. Well, there are still a few brave souls willing to ignore the weather and make the climb up here. In the distance, a wet and windy Aberystwyth comes into view. I think it’s time for that coffee in the café.
