Fuel TV (Portugal)

Fuel TV Global is a Portuguese owned digital cable and satellite television action sports channel that is owned by Fluid Youth Culture (FYC) and Fuel TV founder, CJ Olivares. The channel is available in many countries including Portugal, Republic of Ireland, North Africa and Middle East.

Development

Fuel TV was launched in the US in 2003 by FOX. In 2008, FOX sold the channel and the brand to Portuguese owned Fluid Youth Culture (FYC). Fuel TV in the US and Australia continued to be owned by FOX but rebranded to FOX Sports in both territroies. The Portuguese channel continued under new ownership and began to roll-out the Fuel TV brand into other territories.

Los Angeles-based Fuel TV existed since 2003 in the United States and started its European coverage in Portugal with Portugal-based FYC as representatives of the channel for the Europe, the Middle East and Africa region. In 2013, Fuel TV was replaced by Fox Sports 2 in the United States, but kept broadcasting around the globe, including in Portugal. Fuel TV Portugal was owned by 21st Century Fox until 2014, when FYC and Fuel TV founder, CJ Olivares, bought the channel and founded Fuel TV Global, based in Lisbon, with offices in Los Angeles.

Fuel TV (Australia)

Fuel TV was a cable and satellite action sports network that airs in Australia. It launched in 2004, and was owned by Fox Sports Pty Ltd. Fuel TV mainly aired content originally sourced for the now defunct American Fuel TV.

It also screened limited original content, UFC programming, Impact Wrestling and formerly aired Attack of the Show! and X-Play from G4 until their January 2013 cancellation. It also showed live coverage of all ASP World Tour men's surfing events. It was also used as an "overflow" channel for Fox Sports Australia when all 3 main Fox Sports are being used for other obligations and they have a fourth, motorsport/extreme sport obligation, which gets shown on Fuel TV live, and delayed on Fox Sports.

For non-motorsport/extreme sport obligations, Pay-per-view channel Main Event is used to broadcast the program under the "Fox Sports Plus" banner, for no extra cost to a Foxtel/Austar subscription.

On 2 November 2014, Fuel TV closed and was replaced by FOX Sports 4.

UFC 28

UFC 28: High Stakes was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on November 17, 2000 at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

History

UFC 28 marked the first UFC event to be sanctioned by the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board, held under the newly formed "Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts". Hence, the event was held in New Jersey, the first UFC event to be held in a northern state. Under the new set of rules, this was the first event requiring competitors to wear trunks, gloves and shoes (and no other attire), with five-minute, judged rounds. The new rules also introduced new strict weight classes, resulting in the first and only UFC Super Heavyweight bout ever, between Josh Barnett and Gan McGee. The first UFC Bantamweight bout took place at UFC 26 in June 2000.

The event was headlined by the return of former Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture, who had relinquished his title in 1998 to return to competitive wrestling and because of contract disputes—and he regained his championship belt by defeating Kevin Randleman. UFC 28 also features the first UFC appearances of Andrei Arlovski, Renato "Babalu" Sobral, Josh Barnett, and Gan McGee, and Matt Hughes's twin brother, Mark Hughes.

UFC 22

UFC 22: Only One Can be Champion was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on September 24, 1999 at the Lake Charles Civic Center in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

History

The event was headlined by a Light Heavyweight Championship bout between Frank Shamrock and Tito Ortiz. The Ortiz-Shamrock fight was notable for being widely considered one of the best MMA fights ever at the time it took place, due to the complete range of skills shown by both fighters. The bout featured back-and-forth action which saw multiple takedowns from Ortiz and crisp kickboxing displayed by Shamrock, who eventually forced Ortiz into submission with brutal punches, elbows, and hammerfists to the temple late in the 4th round. Shamrock would begin his short lived semi-retirement after this bout, citing a lack of competition.

UFC 22 marked the first UFC appearance of future UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes, who would go on to dominate the UFC's Welterweight division, as well as Jens Pulver, who fought in a preliminary bout that was not televised.

Zombi (film series)

The Zombi series refers collectively to various European horror films that have been falsely marketed as sequels to either George A. Romero's Italian-American film Dawn of the Dead (1978) or Lucio Fulci's Italian film Zombi 2 (1979); the latter was itself falsely marketed as a sequel to the former. A confusing history has emerged from the practise of retitling films for release in different countries, in which a given film may have a different title in each country in which it is released. In Britain, these films were released as the Zombie Flesh Eaters series. In North America, these same films became known as the Zombie series.

For the European release of Romero's Dawn of the Dead, the film was re-edited by Dario Argento and re-scored by Goblin, and retitled Zombi. Following its success, a zombie film by Lucio Fulci that was already in production was retitled Zombi 2 to appear as an ersatz sequel. A series of increasingly tenuous efforts by various producers to capitalize on the Zombi name ensued.

Zombi 2

Zombi 2 is a 1979 zombie film directed by Lucio Fulci. The film was adapted from an original screenplay by Dardano Sacchetti to serve as a sequel to George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead, released in Italy as Zombi. It stars Tisa Farrow, Ian McCulloch and Richard Johnson, and featured a score by frequent Fulci collaborator Fabio Frizzi.

The film tells the story of a Caribbean island cursed by voodoo, whose dead residents rise as zombies to attack the living. A scientist's daughter journeys to the island after her father's boat turns up abandoned in New York City. Intended as a return to "classic zombie tales" by its writer, Zombi 2 was filmed in Italy, with further location shooting in New York and Santa Domingo.

Produced on a small budget of ₤410 million, the film earned several times its production costs back in international gross. It attracted controversy upon its United Kingdom release, becoming listed as a "video nasty"; however later years have seen a greater appreciation for the film from critics. Frizzi's score has also been released independently of the film, as well as being performed live on tour by the composer.
