Dag Nasty: All Ages Show
My Debut Novel, Available on Amazon.com and across Amazon Europe: www.amazon.com Band: Dag Nasty Album: Field Day (1988) Song: All Ages Show This is without question one of the absolute best Dag Nasty songs, and it has one of the catchiest guitar riffs I've ever heard. Peter Cortner is singing on this one, not Dave Smalley. Field Day was evidently a controversial album, but this song is not one of the experimental tracks. I think everyone can enjoy this... regardless of age (yeah, I went there). Lyrics From www.daghouse.com: I understand you you've got a problem now understand me it's your problem not mine to find a reason, don't ask me don't ask (anyone) for a reason to live your life shake your head, left and right like the old man who shows up here every night what does he hear in this kind of music? why don't you ask him? find out what you need to know all ages show you haven't lived all there is to live how old is old? how old is old? all ages show I get the feeling that I've heard all this before I spoke your words, I felt your feelings but when I reached a dead end, I knew there was more I guess I'm just too young to see it but I've shorn* up some people a little bit older and they say the problems keep coming but reasons to keep on trying keep growing and they grow and they grow and they grow all ages show (* shorn = "slept with")

DAG NASTY - The Godfather
Wig Out at Denko's LP (Dischord Records, 1987). Dag Nasty was a Washington DC punk band formed in 1985 by guitarist Brian Baker of Minor Threat, drummer Colin Sears and bassist Roger Marbury, both of Bloody Mannequin Orchestra, and vocalist Shawn Brown later of Swiz and Jesuseater. Their style of less aggressive, melodic hardcore was influential to emocore, as well as post-hardcore.[1] Shawn Brown was the first vocalist with whom the band recorded (until recently) unreleased versions of most of the material that later made up their first release Can I Say, which featured former roadie and new singer Dave Smalley of DYS. Dave left the band to attend school in Israel before a summer tour with the Descendents. A new singer, Peter Cortner, was found after the band placed an ad in a local paper and the tour was kept. After touring half the US opening for the Descendents, the band went home and recorded new material that wasn't released until years later. After a few more local shows, the band broke up in the fall of 1986. Brian went to LA to start a new band with Doug Carrion and half of Doggie Style called Doggie Rock. After releasing one album under the Doggie Style name, Doggie Rock broke up and Brian reformed Dag Nasty in early 1987 with Peter, Colin and Doug replacing Roger Marbury, who declined to rejoin. Months later, the band recorded and released Wig Out at Denko's, including rerecorded versions of the late 86' tape and new material. 1988 saw the release of their ...

DAG NASTY - Live 9:30 CLUB Washington 1987
Peter Cortner on vocals, sorry for the quality, old vid. Playing: CAN I SAY - VALUES HERE - THE GODFATHER - TRYING - I'VE HEARD. Dag Nasty kept roaring DC-styled hardcore alive during the mid-'80s. Although the group was more accessible and melodic than Minor Threat, they never lost their bracing, blistering edge. Formed by former-Minor Threat and Meatmen guitarist Brian Baker and ex-DYS vocalist Dave Smalley, Dag Nasty recorded their first album, Can I Say (1986), with DC-punk guru Ian MacKaye assisting on the production. The following year, Smalley left the group; he was replaced by Peter Cortner, who added more pop elements to the band's sound. Dag Nasty moved from MacKaye's Dischord label to Giant in 1988, releasing their last album, Field Day. Along with former-Big Boy Chris Gates, Baker formed the metal band Junkyard in 1989, which released two records on Geffen before fading away. Dag Nasty came back together in 1992, releasing Four on the Floor for the growing underground punk scene that was only a few short years from breaking into the mainstream. The response was enthusiastic, but the band stepped away from the business again. Ten years later, they reunited with the emo rock call-to-arms Minority of One and released it on Revelation Records.

Dag Nasty: Under Your Influence
My Debut Novel, Available on Amazon.com and across Amazon Europe: www.amazon.com Band: Dag Nasty Album: Can I Say (1986) Song: Under Your Influence So, I never intended to upload this song, since there were already solid live videos of the song available, but none of them had Dave Smalley, whom I feel performed the song best. Plus, this is basically *the* Dag Nasty song, so I felt this really ought to be here. I really encourage people who enjoy the songs I upload to look into purchasing their respective albums if they have the means. Support what you like! At any rate, I intend for this to be my last Dag Nasty upload, so enjoy! Lyrics From www.daghouse.com: It's hard to hold when the world is spinning learned nothing from the night before or the weeks before that under your influence - right goes wrong under your influence - crossed my mind under your influence - right goes wrong under your influence - you crossed my mind for the last time twelve ounces of courage makes the world look better you love the attention you never had it before no safety comes from your numbers nothing said or gained shirking responsibility true freedom from what? from what?

Dag Nasty Reunion - Sort of
Dag Nasty Reunion of sorts....Gerunds played DC on 29 Jan 2010. Gerunds features Peter Cortner from Dag Nasty on vocals. Brian Baker came out that evening and played 4 Dag Nasty songs with the band. So, it was 1/2 of Wig Out/Field Day Dag Nasty with the rest of the Gerunds backing them up. Small crowd, but, everyone had fun.
