Linda Darnell - Somewhere
This video is dedicated to Linda Darnell. Linda is one of my favorite actresses & I just think she is one of the greatest actresses ever!! My favorite movies of hers are " A Letter to Three Wives" & "Brigham Young." I just love her attitude & moxie!! She could be tough & yet still be vulnerable. Sadly she died when she was very young in a house fire. Thankfully she left behind a legacy of great movies. Here is a mini biography of her life: Linda Darnell, was born Monetta Eloyse Darnell, in Dallas, Texas on October 16, 1923. She was one of five children of a post office worker and his wife. A Texas-born beauty, her mother encouraged her to model. Her mother already knew that Linda was special because of her rare good looks. By 1934 she was modeling clothes for an area department store. Sometimes officials would think that she was 15 or 16 because she really didn't look her age. Neither Linda nor her mother discouraged their thinking. By the time Linda was 13, she was appearing with local theater companies and her talent was already becoming apparent. There was no doubt that Linda had a rare gift for someone so young. When the Hollywood moguls sent scouts to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, her mother thought it would be a good idea to give Linda a shot at a try-out. The talent scouts took one look at her and her acting abilities and arranged for a screen test. She made the trek to Hollywood and when her true age was discovered she was sent home. After two years and more local ...

Mormon Missionaries: Brigham Young - The Book of Mormon
www.youtube.com is a video describing how to learn more about the Mormon Church. This clip portrays Brigham Young describing how early Mormon missionaries touched his heart by the power of a simple testimony of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. Brigham Young later joined the LDS Church and became the second president and prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Once converted to Mormonism, Brigham proclaimed and defended the Book of Mormon. On his first mission to the Eastern states as a Mormon missionary, he experienced a hostile encounter with a Boston minister. Brigham found the best solution to the problem was to share his testimony of the Book of Mormon. He wrote, "We bore testimony of the Book of Mormon and drowned him in his own words and let him go." Brigham was fearless in his declaration of the Book of Mormon as the word of God, as a missionary and Church leader. He occasionally referred to the large number of witnesses it had: "How many witnesses has the Book of Mormon? Hundreds and thousands are now living upon the earth, who testify to its truth." On one of his missionary travels, he listened to several religious leaders attempt to prove that everyone ought to believe in the reality of the Lord Jesus Christ because of the miracles he performed that were recorded in the New Testament. Using their same logic, Brigham observed that if eight New Testament authors, "who have been dead for about seventeen hundred years," were enough to ...

Epic Mormon Pioneer Journey - Brigham Young - Part 1/3
www.youtube.com is a video describing how to learn more about the Mormon Church. This video has President James E. Faust, President Thomas S. Monson and President Gordon B. Hinckley talking about the tremendous sacrifice that the Mormon pioneers made in crossing the plains. The Mormon pioneers were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also known as Latter-day Saints, who migrated across the United States from the midwest to the Salt Lake Valley in what is today the US state of Utah. The journey was taken by about 70000 people beginning in April 1847, and ending with the completion of the transcontinental railroad in 1869. Since its founding in 1830, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were often harshly treated and persecuted by their neighbors, primarily due to their inclination toward social and political unity and their unorthodox religious beliefs. There was violence directed against the Church, its members, and its leader, Joseph Smith. This among other reasons caused the body of the Church to move from one place to another- Ohio, Missouri, and then to Illinois where church members built the city of Nauvoo. Missouri Governor Lilburn Boggs issued an extermination order against all Mormons living in the state. In 1844 Joseph Smith was killed by a mob while in custody in the city of Carthage, Illinois. In 1846, religious tension reached their peak, and in 1848 mobs burned the Latter-day Saint temple in Nauvoo. According to ...

Linda Darnell (Because Of You)
Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for fair use for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use. A tribute to the gorgeous actress with dark beauty, Linda Darnell (1923-1965), who played innocent virginal heriones in her early career and then sultry, sophisticated and sometimes seductive femme fatales in her later films. Born Monetta Darnell in Texas, Linda was the child of a stage mother who pushed her into beauty pagents before she was even a teenager. Signed by 20th Century Fox at the age of 14, she began with a featured role in "Elsa Maxwell's Hotel For Women" in 1939 and soon found herself cast opposite such actors as John Payne in "Stardust" (1940) in a role that was specifically written for Linda based on her own rise to fame, and Tyrone Power in "Daytime Wife" (1939), "Brigham Young" and "The Mark Of Zorro" (both 1940) and "Blood And Sand" (1941). Her roles became more complex in the mid-40s, with such siren-like roles in "Summer Storm" (1945), "Hangover Square", "My Darling Clementine" and "Fallen Angel" (all 1946), and later as a 17th-century British courtesan in "Forever Amber' (1947). Her career began to falter later in the decade, although "A Letter To Three Wives" (1949) and "No Way Out" (1950) are often ...

Modern-Day LDS Pioneers - Growth of the Mormon Church - 6/8
www.youtube.com is a video describing how to learn more about the Mormon Church. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been a presence in Africa since 1853, but for the first 125 years it was established only in southern Africa. Applications by the Church for admittance into central Africa in the 1960s were denied, but those in 1978 were approved, and growth of the Church there has been impressive. From 1853 until 1978 most of the work of the Church in Africa was with European immigrants and their descendants in South Africa and in Northern and Southern Rhodesia (now Zambia and Zimbabwe, respectively). In June 1978, when the First Presidency announced the revelation extending the priesthood to all worthy male members of the Church, the way was opened for the Church to extend its full program to all the nations of Africa. Missionaries were sent to Nigeria and Ghana at the request of many local people who had already studied the Church scriptures and literature and had organized themselves into units that they unofficially called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Church missions were later organized in Zaire, Sierra Leone, Liberia, the Ivory Coast, and Mauritius and Reunion islands. The establishment of the Church in Africa began at a special Church conference in Salt Lake City in August 1852, when President Brigham Young called 106 men to leave their wives in charge of their families, homes, farms, and businesses and go on missions to various ...

[english] "Claire de Lune" was fully animated and scored when it was deleted from Fantasia in early 1940, a casualty of Fantasias's excessive length. In February 1942, inking, painting and Technicolor photography were completed for "Clair de Lune" as a short subject, but it was not released. In 1946 it was edited, reshaped and re-scored as the popular music sequence "Blue Bayou" in Make Mine Music. Previous attempts to recreate "Clair de Lune" were frustrated by missing animation and Stokowski footage. A nitrate workprint of the original version located in 1992 has allowed "Clair de Lune" to be completely reconstructed as Walt Disney intended it to be seen.
