Tracie is the 1999 studio effort released from R&B singer Tracie Spencer. Two singles, "It's All About You (Not About Me)" and Still In My Heart, were released from the album. It went to #114 on the Billboard 200 and #19 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart becoming her highest charting album on that chart.

Tracie Young (often just billed as Tracie) (born 1965, Derby, England) was a pop singer in the 1980s. She achieved success after becoming a protégée of Paul Weller.

Career[link]

Born in Derby and raised in Essex, Young began her singing career when she was discovered by The Jam frontman, Paul Weller, through an advertisement in Smash Hits magazine for his Respond Records label.^[1] Weller's ad solicited demo tapes from female singers between the ages of 18 and 24, for the purpose of hiring a vocalist alongside the group The Questions.^[2] Although just 17 years old, Young replied and sent Weller a cassette of a Phoebe Snow-inspired version of the Betty Wright hit "Shoorah Shoorah". Young's tape was singled out from among the hundreds received, and shortly thereafter was invited to London for an audition.^[3] Performing old soul numbers "Band of Gold" and "Reach Out (I'll Be There)" for the audition, Young impressed Weller enough to win the job and become his priority signing for the Respond label.^[3]

Before recording solo work for Respond, Weller sought to increase exposure for Young. He promptly utilized her for backing vocals on The Jam's final single, "Beat Surrender", which was released on 26 November 1982 and became the band's fourth #1 single.^[4] Weller also had Young join the group for their appearance on Top Of The Pops to promote the song.^[2]

In January 1983, Young contributed vocals for The Style Council's first single, "Speak Like a Child", and also appeared in the promotional video for the song.^[5] As an unofficial member of the group, Young toured with The Style Council for part of 1983, while also performing as a solo artist as part of a Respond package tour^[6]

Young was featured on the cover of the April 9, 1983 issue of New Musical Express with the banner "Tracie: The girl star Paul Weller would build".^[7] She was also voted "Most Fanciable Female" in Smash Hits 1983 readers' poll.^[8]

Signed to Respond, she had UK hit singles in March 1983 with "The House That Jack Built" and in July with "Give it Some Emotion" (both credited simply to 'Tracie')^[1]

Her debut album, Far from the Hurting Kind, was released in 1984 under the name Tracie.^[1] It featured production, backing, and songwriting from Weller, as well as an Elvis Costello song written especially for her, "(I Love You) When You Sleep".^[1] The album was reissued in Japan in 1996.^[1]

Young recorded with The Style Council again in 1985, contributing backing vocals to the song "Boy Who Cried Wolf", a single taken from the album Our Favourite Shop.^[9]

Respond ceased operations in 1986 and Young was briefly signed by Polydor. The second album she recorded whilst signed to Polydor, titled No Smoke Without Fire, remains unreleased.

Since the late 1990s Young has enjoyed a second career as a radio presenter, currently working at Southend Radio 105.1, Chelmsford Radio 107.7 and also Connect FM in Peterborough and Northamptonshire. In 2009 Young did a one-off gig, supporting Billy Franks (formerly of The Faith Brothers) at The Shepherd's Bush Empire. The show was on June 6, 2009 and Tracie was backed by Southend rock band, Soliss. In the wake of the show, Young released a self-produced, limited edition six-song EP of previously released material, titled It Happened One Night...And Other Songs .

In 2010, with the cooperation of Young, Cherry Red Records reissued her 1984 debut Far from the Hurting Kind, marking the first time the album has been available in the UK on CD. The 20 track CD features the 10 tracks from the original album release plus 10 bonus tracks.^[10]

Tracie Nicole Thoms (born August 19, 1975) is an American television, film, and stage actress. She is best known for her roles in Rent, Cold Case, The Devil Wears Prada, Death Proof, and the short-lived Fox television series Wonderfalls.

Early life and education[link]

Thoms was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Mariana and Donald H. Thoms.^[1][2] She has a younger brother, Austin. She started studying acting when she was ten and later on attended the Baltimore School for the Arts.

She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Howard University in 1997. She then attended the Juilliard School's Drama Division as a member of Group 30 (1997–2001), which also included actors Lee Pace and Anthony Mackie.^[3]

Thoms is known for her role of Mahandra McGinty in the television show Wonderfalls. She also played the part of Sasha in the US version of the T.V. series As If, which was cancelled after three episodes. Most recently she has been added to the cast of the CBS crime drama Cold Case, as the homicide detective, Kat Miller. Thoms has also made guest appearances on Law & Order and The Shield.

Thoms has appeared in several movies, most notably in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Rent in which she plays Joanne Jefferson, lawyer and lover of Maureen Johnson (Idina Menzel). She took over the role from Fredi Walker, who played Joanne in the original Broadway production of Rent but decided not to reprise her role due to her age. Prior to being cast as Joanne, Thoms had considered herself a fan of the show, having seen it on Broadway several times.

She was featured in the 2002 Comedy Central film Porn 'n Chicken and the 2004 films Brother to Brother and The Warrior Class. Thoms appeared in the 2006 film version of The Devil Wears Prada as Lily. Thoms has completed filming on the City Lights Pictures movie Descent along with Rent co-stars Wilson Jermaine Heredia and Rosario Dawson and will soon begin filming Jimmie with co-stars Vanessa Williams and Brian McKnight. She appeared in Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof, alongside Zoë Bell, Rosario Dawson and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Thoms made her Broadway debut in Regina Taylor's Drowning Crow. She has also appeared in several off-Broadway and regional productions, including Up Against the Wind (New York Theater Workshop), The Oedipus Plays (The Shakespeare Theater), A Raisin in the Sun (Baltimore CenterStage) Joe Turner's Come and Gone (Missouri Rep), The Exonerated (Off Broadway's The Culture Project) and The Antigone Project (The Women's Project). On July 18, 2008, she joined the final cast of Rent starting July 26, 2008, reprising the character of Joanne, replacing Merle Dandridge. The final performance was made into a DVD: Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway.

Thoms reprised her role as Joanne for another production of Rent, directed by Neil Patrick Harris, at the Hollywood Bowl from August 6–8, 2010.^[4]

In the fall of 2010 she appeared in the concert revue For The Record: Quentin Tarantino in Los Angeles, presented by ROCKLA for Show at Barre. It ran from August 12, 2010, to October 30, 2010, and also starred Jenna Leigh Green, Autumn Reeser, Ty Taylor, and Audra Mae. From November 2010 through January 2011, Thoms starred in Show At Barre's For The Record: John Hughes, alongside Barrett Foa, Von Smith and Ty Taylor. In 2011 she appeared at Show At Barre in the revue For the Record: Baz Luhrmann, from February 12, 2011, to June 30, 2011, with Jenna Leigh Green, Arielle Jacobs, Tinuke Oyefule and Kate Reinders.

She played Etta, Diana's personal assistant, in NBC's Wonder Woman pilot.^[5]

Jeremy Schonfeld (born January 30, 1970 in St. Louis, Missouri) is a singer-songwriter and musical theater composer. His song-writing style includes influences of tuneful pop, hard-edged rock, gospel, soul and blues comparable to Billy Joel and Jonathan Larson.

Jeremy Schonfeld attended the Berklee College of Music and participated in the BMI Lehman-Engel Musical Theater Workshop. ^[1]

Work[link]

Schonfeld starred and wrote the feature film “Clear Blue Tuesday,” which traces the journey of eleven artists in post 9/11 New York through a montage of songs and scenes. ^[2]

In 2005, Schonfeld and bookwriter Craig Pospisil premiered the musical Drift at the 2005 New York Musical Theater Festival. In 2006, it was further developed and mounted again at the New York Musical Theater Festival.^[3]

Other theatrical projects included: Ministry of Progress at Jane Street Theater (composer/lyricist); Home at the Minetta Lane (book/music/lyrics); and Letters to Katrina and Letters to Baghdad (contributing songwriter/performer), both at the Winter Harbor Theatre Company (Portland ME). Jeremy is also a founding composer/lyricist for the A-Train Musicals.

As a solo performer, recent engagements included Joe’s Pub; Birdland; Ars Nova; BB King’s; Lincoln Center; Juilliard Opera Theater; Symphony Space; CBGBs; Southpaw (he is also the club’s only right-handed owner); The Zipper Theater (where he served as associate producer for the Unzipped Concert Series); and as an opener for James Taylor.

He served as the music director and special guest performer for The Broadway Dreams Foundation events around the country.

Along with partners Ryan Paternite and Jonelle Fenton, Jeremy signed a development deal with Glowcast Ventures to create a new reality television program based on Songwriting.

Eden Erica Espinosa (born February 2, 1978 in Anaheim, California) is an American singer and stage actress, who is best known for her performances as Elphaba for the Broadway, Los Angeles and San Francisco productions of the musical Wicked.^[1]

Education & early career[link]

Of Mexican descent,^[2] Eden Espinosa began singing at the age of three, performing at age five, and recording at the age of ten.^[3] At Canyon High School, she played the role of Maria in West Side Story. After graduating, Eden worked at local theme parks such as Disneyland and Universal Studios.^[4] Eden was also part of the successful performing group The Young Americans, which is based in southern California and performs in front of audiences worldwide.

Eden made her Broadway debut as a member of the Original Broadway Cast of Stephen Schwartz's musical Wicked, which opened on October 30, 2003. She originated the position of standby for Idina Menzel in the lead role of Elphaba. She was also an understudy for the role of Nessarose. Espinosa performed the lead role of Elphaba for a month continuously during the Summer of 2004, while Menzel was filming Ask the Dust. Espinosa left Wicked on September 5, 2004, to originate the lead for the Broadway debut of Brooklyn.

Espinosa performed the lead role of Elphaba for the Wicked First National Tour while it was in San Francisco, from August 5 to September 11, 2005. She replaced Stephanie J. Block while she recovered from an injury, and closed the San Francisco run.^[5]

On January 10, 2006, Espinosa returned to perform in the lead role of Elphaba for the Broadway production of Wicked, taking over the role from Shoshana Bean. Espinosa performed for the Wicked celebration of its 1,000th performance on Broadway, on March 21, 2006. Eden played opposite both Megan Hilty and Kate Reinders as Glinda on Broadway. She left the Broadway production on October 8, 2006, and was replaced by Ana Gasteyer.

Eden received the 2006 Broadway.com Audience Award for "Favorite Female Replacement", in recognition of her performances as Elphaba during her Broadway run as lead.^[6]

Espinosa was chosen to originate the role of Elphaba for the third U.S. production of Wicked in Los Angeles, which opened on February 21, 2007 at the Pantages Theatre. She opened the show with former Broadway co-star Megan Hilty as Glinda. She received broad critical acclaim for the role.^[7] Espinosa left the Los Angeles company on December 30, 2007 and was replaced by Caissie Levy. She returned to the Los Angeles production of Wicked on October 31, 2008, to reprise the role of Elphaba and stayed with the production until its finale on January 11, 2009.^[8] Wicked Los Angeles was one of the most financially successful musicals in Los Angeles theatre history.

On March 2, 2010, Espinosa took over the role of Elphaba from Teal Wicks for the San Francisco production of Wicked, on a contract which ran through June 26, 2010.^[9] She performed opposite Kendra Kassebaum as Glinda, whom she had previously performed with on the Wicked First National Tour in San Francisco.

Espinosa originated and workshopped the title role of the lead character "Brooklyn" for the musical Brooklyn over the course of two years. Brooklyn had its world premiere on April 30, 2003 and ran until June 15, 2003 at the Denver Civic Center.^[10] Espinosa made her Broadway debut as a lead, performing the role of Brooklyn, for Brooklyn, on October 24, 2004. She performed the role through its close on June 26, 2005.^[11]

Espinosa was nominated for a 2005 Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance for playing the title role in Brooklyn.^[12] Eden is featured on the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Brooklyn.

Eden was featured as "Maureen" for the closing Broadway company of Rent (a role again originated by Idina Menzel) beginning on May 30, 2008, replacing Nicolette Hart. She performed through closing night on September 7, 2008.^[13] Espinosa is featured on the DVD of a live filmed performance by the closing company of Rent.

Espinosa starred in a production of Flora the Red Menace which ran at UCLA's Freud Playhouse from May 6–18, 2008.^[14] After its closing, On September 21, 2008, Eden made her West End debut in "Never Neverland", a benefit concert that raised money for British charities Ovarian Cancer Action and NCH. The concert took place at the Duchess Theatre in London.

Espinosa also performed in the one-night staging of Howard Ashman's previously-unproduced musical Dreamstuff on June 23, 2008 at the Hayworth Theatre in Los Angeles^[15] directed by Michael Urie.

Espinosa played the Fairy Godmother in the 2011 Nashville Symphony Orchestra concert version of Cinderella on April 15, 2011 alongside Wicked alum Alli Mauzey, who played the title character.^[16]

In March 2009, Eden took her solo show entitled "Me" to Joe's Pub in NYC for a series of concerts following her three performances of the show towards the end of Wicked's LA run. She is scheduled to return to Southern California with her show on Friday, July 24, 2009 at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre. Eden was featured as a soloist for Disneyland's new firework spectacular "Magical" premiering in the summer of 2009, where she sang Magical's theme song as well as classic Disney tunes like "Baby Mine".^[17]

Espinosa has appeared on various television shows, including Law & Order, Robot Chicken, and Dog Whisperer. She had a recurring role in 2009 as the voice of Sasha Caylo on the super robot animated series Titan Maximum, an original show developed for Adult Swim.

In 2007, she appeared on the ABC series Ugly Betty episode "Something Wicked This Way Comes" along with members of Los Angeles Wicked Cast, and performed "I'm Not That Girl" and "Defying Gravity".

She has also appeared on the Today Show in 2004, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade TV broadcast in 2004, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2007, and as a performer on the 2008 Tony Awards. ^[18]

In 2011, she appeared on the animated sketch comedy series Mad episode "Force Code/Flammable" as Katy Putty, a Katy Perry parody made out of Play-Doh and singing about flammable things, and performed "Flammable", a spoof on Katy Perry's song "Firework".
