CANDLESTICK PARK BRAWL
Two fist fights broke out Saturday night (8/20) at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, California during a pre-season football game between the Oakland Raiders and the San Francisco 49ers. One fist fight began in the stands during the 5 pm game and involved a handful of people wearing 49ers jerseys. The other incident occurred in a bathroom and left one person unconscious with life threatening injuries. No word if any of these fights have anything to do with the shooting that occurred after the game.

Candlestick Park, Former Home of the Giants
Candlestick Park was the home of the San Francisco Giants from 1960 to 1999. A miserable place for many visiting teams and fans because of it's wind and cold weather, but my favorite ballpark of all time. The Giants now play at AT&T; Park six miles north of Candlestick in downtown since 2000.

San Francisco Giants vs. Pirates at Candlestick Park
Candlestick Park wasn't such a bad place to see a baseball game - during the day that is. The winds didn't tend to kick up until late in the afternoon, so before that happened you could watch the Giants under a warm sunny sky, take off your shirt and have a cold beer. This video was made on August 23, 1992. The Giants were going nowhere that year in the National League West, but we all worried that they were going to Tampa Bay at the end of the year. It looked like the end of the line for the San Francisco Giants, so I wanted to get in at least one more game before they deserted the City by the Bay. They played the excellent Pittsburgh Pirates that day, who were on their way to a National League Eastern Division title. The star of that team was Barry Bonds. Although the Pirates were a better team, Giant pitcher Bud Black pitched a terrific game, and with help from relief pitcher Rod Beck got the win in a 5-2 game. As it turned out, the Giants didn't go to Tampa Bay after all. Ironically, it was the owner of the much-hated Los Angeles Dodgers who prevented that from happening. He helped block the sale of the team, leading to new buyers emerging who were committed to keeping the Giants in San Francisco. The following season, the Giants had Barry Bonds and the team had its best year ever in San Francisco, finishing with 103 victories. Incredibly, it wasn't enough to make the playoffs! The Atlanta Braves won 104 games to edge out the Giants. There was no wild-card in baseball ...

Lights Go Out Again at Candlestick Park (After Transformer Explodes) - Dec. 19, 2011
DERP "SAN FRANCISCO -- The San Francisco 49ers-Pittsburgh Steelers game has been delayed for a second time after the power went out at the 12:13 mark of the second quarter. Roughly 25 minutes before the scheduled kickoff time, the power went out at Candlestick Park. The public address system stopped working and fans were left in the dark until an emergency light came on in the far corner of the stadium. NFC West Blog ESPN.com's Mike Sando writes about all things NFC West in his division blog. • Network: NFL Nation The game finally started after a 20-minute delay at 6 pm local time. A 49ers team spokesman said after the first outage that transformers appeared to fail outside the stadium. City engineers were working to switch the power over to the backup generators. Joe Molica, a spokesman for Pacific Gas & Electric Co. said the power company was still investigating the cause of the outage. "So far I don't know what the cause is yet," Molica said. "We do know that Candlestick was the only customer affected by this outage." Molica said PG&E; and park authorities had made all the routine checks earlier in the day and that all systems appeared to be in order. He said Candlestick was back up on full power and multiple crews at the park were investigating. The power first started to come back on in the press box and the scoreboard ring around the stadium about 15 minutes later, drawing cheers from Steelers and 49ers fans. The stadium lights slowly turned on about 10 minutes later ...

The Park's capacity was 42500, but only 25000 tickets were sold, leaving large sections of unsold seats. Fans paid between $4.50 and $6.50 for tickets, and The Beatles' fee was around $90000. The show's promoter was local company Tempo Productions. The Beatles took 65% of the gross, the city of San Francisco took 15% of paid admissions and were given 50 free tickets. This arrangement, coupled with low ticket sales and other unexpected expenses resulted in a financial loss for Tempo Productions. Candlestick Park was the home of the baseball team the San Francisco Giants. The stage was located just behind second base on the field, and was five feet high and surrounded by a six-foot high wire fence. The compère was 'Emperor' Gene Nelson of KYA AM 1260, and the support acts were, in order of appearance, The Remains, Bobby Hebb, The Cyrkle and The Ronettes. The show began at 8pm. The Beatles took to the stage at 9.27pm, and performed 11 songs: Rock And Roll ...

Transformer Explodes at Candlestick Park - Dec. 19, 2011
Download the animated .gif image!: twitpic.com "SAN FRANCISCO -- About 10 minutes before the Steelers-49ers game, the power at Candlestick Park went out and caused the entire place to go dark. A transformer blew outside the stadium, according to a 49ers spokesman. The situation is being handled by city engineers. The problem is expected to be fixed in five to 10 minutes, the spokesman added. When the lights went out, none of the players were out on the field. It happened shortly after warm-ups." espn.go.com ********************************************************* I don't even like sports but my mom was watching this and she texted me as it happened. I scrounged up some footage in like 5 minutes by stalking the event on Twitter. lol :D
