Steinway & Sons Visual Artist in Residence: Lynx
Find our more about the Steinway Lynx Special Collection and other Steinway Special Collections: www.steinway.com An artist, actor, writer, international model, and creative director, Gary Moore, aka "Lynx," is a native of Fort Worth, Texas. Lynx began his visual arts training at age three from his mentor and father, Chef William Moore at Colonial Country Club and the Fort Worth Boat Club. Through his formative years, Lynx found inspiration at his father's side through the aesthetic range of colors, textures, and shapes of his artistic culinary presentations. In 2009 Lynx was named artistic director for the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition finalist's photo shoot, an appointment which led to Lynx's introduction to Steinway & Sons', the competitions main sponsor. So moved was Lynx by a speech given by Mr. Cliburn at the competition's gala that he was inspired to create a stunning visual tribute to Mr. Cliburn and the piano he so dearly loved. On May 29, 2009 a representative from Steinway & Sons unveiled Finding Cliburn: The Eye of the Sound a commanding 82" x 98" sculpted painting depicting a concert grand piano. The response to Lynx's work was electrifying and Steinway chose to take the unprecedented step of opening its famous factory doors to Lynx, inviting him to become the first ever Artist in Residence in the company's 160 year history. Lynx is currently living in New York City, stepping into this exciting creative position.

Creative Classrooms Visual Arts Program, New York.
Visit us on www.Light-House-Films.com. Creative Classrooms Visual Arts Program Promotional / fundraising video, New York, 2010. Since 1997 the Creative Classrooms Visual Arts Program (CCVAP) has promoted art and literacy in inner-city Catholic elementary schools. Administered by the Patrons Program which brings educational enrichment opportunities to selected schools, CCVAP fosters learning and creativity. It introduces students to the arts and engages them in creating, reflecting, discussing and writing about art. The program is not a mere add-on to classroom subjects. It is a powerful learning tool that provides students with visual, tactile, and aesthetic experiences that encourage hands-on learning and critical thinking. Consisting of five components, CCVAP includes everything from art instruction to teacher training to museum visits. CCVAP reaches over 10995 inner-city students attending Catholic elementary schools in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island. Its schools are 35% non-Catholic and 93% minority. Seventy percent of the students come from families living at or below the federal poverty level and over half are from single parent households. One hundred percent of Catholic elementary school students go on to high school, 99% of those who attend Catholic high schools graduate, and 92% of those go on to higher education. Tuition at approximately $3000 per child is the main source of revenue in the Archdiocese elementary schools. Robust art and music programs ...

YouTube Visual Arts- Time to Mobilize in #awesome2012!
WE NEED A VISUAL ARTS CATEGORY ON YOUTUBE Petition- www.change.org - For the first time in history, artists from around the world are communicating with each other and learning from each other. - We can not only see each others work but often, we can see how the work was made. - The master artists of this generation are exhibiting their work on youtube right now. - This is unprecedented in history. Artists of the past have their work exhibited in museums and museums have overflowed with generations of masterpieces. Our generation has YouTube. Yes, it is a museum. Think about it. Even major museums are exhibiting on YouTube right now. The current generation of artists has more expressive possibilities of artistic media than generations of the past, and I think that we have carried on arts rich tradition. Here are 20 examples of what I consider to be, Master art work. Click on any of the annotated links and they will open in a new tab. But does YouTube fully understand the scope of what its created? That question will be answered in time. But as of right now there is no category specifically for visual artists. The closest three categories are howto and style, education and film and animation. Howto and style is dominated by make up tutorials, workout videos and fashion tips. The Education category does not mention the visual arts and that is especially scary in a time when so many schools have totally eliminated the arts from their curriculums. Film and animation is the ...

The Art of Visual Perception
www.le.ac.uk This film takes a look at Professor Rodrigo Quian Quiroga'a research and recent exhibition with Mariano Molina. Professor Rodrigo Quian Quiroga works in collaboration with Dr. Sandra Dudley at Museum Studies, Dr. David Barrie, former director of the Art Fund, and Visual Artist Mariano Molina, to study principles of visual perception of art in the museum environment. There has been historically very little interaction between arts and science, but clearly artists and neuroscientists have complementary knowlege and expertise about visual perception. Their goal is to link both fields to start understanding, using Eye-tracker recordings and antropological data, the underlying mechanisms involved in the perception of visual art and how these are affected by the museum environment, the available information, and expertise.
