Consider Equinox... A Journey into the Supernatural as the very watchable demo reel that launched the careers of Dennis Muren, David Allen, and Jim Danforth. Released theatrically in 1970 as The Equionox (padded with additional scenes), the original The Equinox... A Journey into the Supernatural is the superior picture. It manages a moderately darker tone and a natural pace in just over an hour, and doesn't suffer from the feature's diluting overdubbed dialog. It also boasts longer cuts of critical effects scenes. The action starts in a short sequence with the destruction of Dr. Waterman's cabin. A giant cephalopod crushes the building with four nicely articulated tentacles. The close-up of the watery yellow eye is a nice detail. The cabin is destroyed about as well as can be animated in a model of such small scale, and no one questions that the giant cephalopod, an ocean-dwelling monster, somehow wound up in a forest. On the subject of miniature sets, a fantastic Kong island diorama makes an appearance as the middle eastern origin of the Necronomicon. Cyclops' cousin, the memorable bipedal monster Taurus, lacks the graceful form a more skilled sculptor may have fashioned: His shoulders are square, legs stumpy, and his patchy fur and multicolored skin prevent the eye from focusing on his performance. Taurus is nevertheless intimidating when he corners the kids in a chasm, and ingenious when he uproots a tree and uses it as a tool to reach for the Necronomicon. Taurus ...

An equinox occurs twice a year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the center of the Sun being in the same plane as the Earth's equator. The term equinox can also be used in a broader sense, meaning the date when such a passage happens. The name "equinox" is derived from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), because around the equinox, the night and day are approximately equally long. It may be better understood to mean that latitudes +L and -L north and south of the Equator experience nights of equal length. At an equinox, the Sun is at one of two opposite points on the celestial sphere where the celestial equator (ie declination 0) and ecliptic intersect. These points of intersection are called equinoctial points: classically, the vernal point and the autumnal point. By extension, the term equinox may denote an equinoctial point. An equinox happens each year at two specific moments in time (rather than two whole days), when there is a location on the Earth's equator where the center of the Sun can be observed to be vertically overhead, occurring around March 20/21 and September 22/23 each yearoint. September equinox commemorations The September equinox marks the first day of Mehr or Libra in the Iranian calendar. It is one of the Iranian festivals called Jashne Mihragan, or the festival of sharing or love in Zoroastrianism. From the 1970 album "Ptah, the El Daoud" en.wikipedia.org Alice Coltrane — harp, piano Joe Henderson — alto flute, tenor saxophone Pharoah Sanders — alto flute, tenor saxophone, bells Ron Carter — bass Ben Riley — drums This was Coltrane's first album with horns (aside from one track on A Monastic Trio (1968), on which Pharoah Sanders had played bass clarinet). Sanders is recorded on the right channel and Joe Henderson on the left channel throughout. All the compositions were written by Coltrane. The title track is named for the Egyptian god Ptah, "the El Daoud" meaning "the beloved". "Turiya", according to the liner notes, "was defined by Alice as 'a state of consciousness — the high state of Nirvana, the goal of human life", while "Ramakrishna" is named after the 19th-century Bengali religious figure; this track omits the horns. The origin of the title of "Blue Nile" is self-explanatory, Coltrane switches from piano to harp, and Sanders and Henderson from tenor saxophones to alto flutes. "Mantra" returns to piano and saxes.

"Orion" - motion controlled night timelapse
Shot in central South Dakota in late march-early april. It was the first time I've had the chance to use, an Orion head mounted on the Dynamic Perception Stage Zero dolly. http://www.dynamicperception.com
The Orion (aka Merlin or Celestron) telescope head allows for an ultra slow pan and tilt of the camera while it moves slowly along the dolly. The MX2 controller from Dynamic Perception runs the dolly as well as the Orion head.
I also used a "milapse" mount on a few shots as well. The Orion works great with the MX2 and the dolly, I'll be using it often.

At 2:09 you can see the Orion panning and tilting on the dolly.

Shot in RAW format, most shots were 25 seconds exposure F2.8 or 1.8 on the Sigma with 2 second interval between shots, for about 300 frames or so (several hours). There were a few 30 second exposures. ISO 1600
