Albany, Oregon
Albany is the eleventh largest city as of 2007 in the U.S. state of Oregon, and is the county seat of Linn county. It is located in the Willamette Valley at the confluence of the Calapooia River and the Willamette River in both Linn and Benton Counties, just east of Corvallis and south of Salem Oregon. Albany is largely a farming and manufacturing based city. Settlers founded the community in 1848, as of the 2000 census, the city population rested at 40,852 with 91.68% of the population being White. The population has since increased to an estimated population of 49,165 as of 2009.

As of January 1, 2010, the city population was about 353,643, slightly less than Santa Ana, making it the 10th most-populated city in California, and ranked 54th in the United States. 70 volunteers came together on April 28th, 2012, to rebuild 71 year old, Sheila's house. It truly was amazing to see so many willing people come together to help others. Sheila was beside herself with happiness. The house was completely transformed in a matter of hours. What a blessing to be a part of such an amazing project. On August 14, 2007, three protesters blockaded the main entrance to PacifiCorp's headquarters in NE Portland Oregon, locking down to four 600 pound concrete barrels and demanding the removal of the Klamath River dams. (Excerpted from the News media packet.) "We're locked down to demonstrate our soldarity with affected communities and the salmon of the Klamath River who are fighting for their health and survival," said Will Munger, one of the blockaders. "We demand the immediate removal of PacifiCorp's dams." Another blockader, Cedar Knoll, said, "PacifiCorp is a climate criminal and salmon killer living in the heart of Portland." Continuing from the news media packet: The protest follow the Convergence for Climate action which took place in Skamokawa, WA over the past week. Yesterday, protesters from the camp occupied the proposed Liquefied Natural Gas terminal at Bradwood, Oregon for several hours. A simultaneous occupation took place in Asheville, North Carolina on Monday, where a Bank of America branch was shut down by protesters for its lead role in financing the coal industry." And, in London an affiliated "Camp for Climate Action" begins just outside of Heathrow Airport, where two thousand participants plan to target airline industry giants profiteering amidst the climate crisis. PacifiCorp's, Malin Substation, Series Capacitor Project Christenson's High Voltage Division completes a major project for PacifiCorp near Malin Oregon. This project consisted of the installation of an Areva 500kV Fixed Series Capacitor Bank. This facility will help PacifiCorp regulate the voltage of their Round Mountain #2 500kV Transmission Line. The station covers over 3.5 acres and features three large platforms full of equipment. Each of the three steel platforms measuring 45' X 80' is positioned on an array of insulating columns. The platforms are first assembled then raised into place using two 150 Ton cranes. The weight of the platforms was around 120000 pounds during the lift. After they were set in place and secured, the rest of the equipment was lifted onto them. The General Forman on the job had his hands full coordinating the delivery of over 44 truckloads of material which came from eight different countries around the world. The project started in August 2010 and was completed in January 2011.

PacifiCorp is an electric power company in the northwestern United States.
PacifiCorp has three primary subsidiaries:
- Pacific Power is a regulated electric utility with service territory throughout Oregon, northern California, and southeastern Washington.
- Rocky Mountain Power is a regulated electric utility with service territory throughout Utah, Wyoming, and southeastern Idaho.
- PacifiCorp Energy operates 69 generation facilities in the six states that Pacific Power and Rocky Mountain Power operate in, plus two facilities in Montana, three in Colorado, and one in Arizona.
Since 2006, PacifiCorp has been a wholly owned subsidiary of MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company, itself an affiliate of Berkshire Hathaway. In 2001, PacifiCorp was purchased by Scottish Power, but later sold to MidAmerican.
PacifiCorp is currently headquartered in the Lloyd Center Tower[4] at 825 N.E. Multnomah Street, Portland, Oregon, in the Lloyd District. Pacific Power is also headquartered in the same building. Rocky Mountain Power and PacifiCorp Energy are headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Pacific Power and Rocky Mountain Power combined serve over 1.4 million residential customers, 202,000 commercial customers, and 34,000 industrial and irrigation customers - for a total of approximately 1,668,000 customers. The service area is 136,000 square miles (350,000 km2). Pacific Power and Rocky Mountain Power own and maintain 15,622 miles (25,141 km) of long distance transmission lines, 43,850 miles (70,570 km) of overhead distribution lines, 14,510 miles (23,350 km) of underground distribution lines, and 900 substations.
In 1977, PacifiCorp spun off its coal mining interests into a mining company known as NERCO, which was eventually listed on the New York Stock Exchange and ranked as high as 353 on the Fortune 500 list of the largest American companies. Through its majority interest in NERCO, PacifiCorp was involved in the mining of coal, oil, natural gas, gold, silver, and uranium. PacifiCorp still owned 82% of NERCO in 1993, when it was acquired by the mining giant, the Rio Tinto Group[5].

PacifiCorp was formed from the 1987 merger of Utah Power & Light Company (later known as Utah Power) of Salt Lake City, Utah and PacifiCorp of Portland, Oregon. PacifiCorp was the holding company for the Pacific Power & Light Company (later known as Pacific Power), which served customers in Oregon, Washington, California, and Wyoming. Utah Power & Light served customers in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming.
After the merger both Utah Power & Light and Pacific Power & Light operated as divisions of PacifiCorp. After July 2006, PacifiCorp was reorganized into two new regulated utility operating divisions; Pacific Power and Rocky Mountain Power. Pacific Power kept the original Pacific Power & Light territory, with the exception of eastern and central Wyoming. Rocky Mountain Power's territory included that of the former Utah Power & Light, with the addition of the former Pacific Power & Light territory of central and eastern Wyoming.[6]

Utah Power and Light (UP&L) was organized on 6 September 1912 as a subsidiary of a large holding company, Electric Bond and Share Company (EBASCO) of New York. Within four years of its organization, UP&L had purchased twenty-seven other electric companies in the general Utah area, and eventually absorbed more than one hundred thirty.
Pacific Power & Light was formed in 1910 from the merger of several financially troubled utilities in Oregon and Washington. In 1954, Pacific Power & Light merged with the Mountain States Power Company, essentially doubling the company's service area. In 1961, the company purchased the California Oregon Power Company, extending its service into southern Oregon and northern California [8]
PacifiCorp Energy[link]
PacifiCorp Energy was created after the purchase of PacifiCorp by MidAmerican Energy Holdings. PacifiCorp Energy owns, maintains and operates the PacifiCorp generation assets and manages the commercial and trading operations of the company. PacifiCorp Energy owns 68 generating plants with a capacity of 9,140 megawatts. 70.6% of the generation is from thermal sources (i.e. coal or natural gas), 6.7% from hydroelectric sources, and 0.2% from wind sources. 22.5% of PacifiCorp Energy's generation is purchased from other suppliers or under contracts.

Coal Mining[link]
PacifiCorp Energy also owns and operates several captive coal mines located at or very near some of its generation plants. In Wyoming, PacifiCorp operates and has partial interest in Jim Bridger Mine and owns the Dave Johnston Mine, which is in final reclamation. The company also owns and operates the Deer Creek Mine in Utah, near the Huntington Plant and has a partial interest in the Trapper Mine in Colorado.

Crystal Cox (born March 28, 1979 in Norfolk, Virginia) is an American track and field athlete and was a contestant on the seventeenth season of the reality show Survivor.

She won a gold medal in the women's 4x400 m relay at the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics. In Athens she ran in the preliminary round but not in the final. DeeDee Trotter, Monique Henderson, Sanya Richards and Monique Hennagan were the athletes who ran in the final. In 2004, she was the American indoor 200 m champion.
Steroid Use[link]
On January 29, 2010, the Associated Press and ESPN.com reported that Cox admitted to using anabolic steroids from 2001-2004. As a result, she will forfeit all of her results from that time period, and has agreed to a four-year suspension. The suspension will last until January 2014.[1] IAAF has recommended that the whole U.S. women's 2004 Olympic 4x400 metres relay team will be stripped of the medals.[2]
Survivor: Gabon[link]
Cox was one of the contestants in the reality series Survivor: Gabon, which premiered in the fall of 2008.[3]
Cox lost 12 of the 14 tribal challenges, though she made it to the final six. Her main alliance consisted of Kenny Hoang, Sugar Kiper, Susie Smith, and Matty Whitmore. On the December 11, 2008 episode, Cox was voted out and became the fifth member of the jury.

Mike Schaufler is a Democratic member of the Oregon House of Representatives, representing District 48 since 2002.
After growing up and graduating from high school in Webster City, Iowa, Mike developed an early interest in politics. He was an active participant in student council throughout his time in school, ultimately attending the University of Iowa to pursue a B.A. in Political Science. Upon completing his bachelor’s degree in 1984, he moved to Oregon in 1988.
After arriving in Oregon, Mike worked as a Laborer's Union member, rank and file, from 1988-1996. Since 1996, Mike has successfully operated his own small business, working as a contractor.
During his time in Oregon, Mike’s strong interest in politics has driven his involvement in local government, where he has held numerous positions. His experience in public service has exposed him to a wealth of issues and afforded him the opportunity to apply real solutions to make the community better.
Mike served in the following positions prior to his election to the Oregon House of Representatives in 2002:
Happy Valley City Council 1997-2000 Happy Valley Transportation Advisory Committee 1996 Metro's Joint Policy Advisory Committee on Transportation, Alternate Clackamas County Concurrency Project, Transportation League of Oregon Cities General Government Committee Happy Valley Budget Committee Happy Valley Planning Commission Sunrise Water Authority Budget Committee He carries this broad experience and passion with him as he runs for a fifth term as the representative of House District 48. Mike currently resides in Happy Valley with his wife and daughter. His dedication to a bright future for his family resonates with his deep concerns for his constituents. Mike’s efforts at the Capitol are aimed at ensuring a quality education for each child, along with strong working communities in Happy Valley and outer Southeast Portland.
In the fall of 2011, Schaufler was accused of groping a woman's breast at an AFL-CIO convention held in Eugene, Oregon. The incident was publicized in Oregon's premier newspaper, The Oregonian, and Schaufler's behavior was referred to as "highly inappropriate" by the State Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian. Shaufler later denied the incident by written statement, explaining, "A campaign worker and colleague of mine stuck a campaign sticker on my chest without my permission. I reacted by taking the sticker off of my chest and sticking it on her chest." Schaufler further described the incident as "innocent horseplay" and a "knee-jerk response."
Schaufler has also been criticized for his record of siding with republicans on various issues in the legislature, including stalling a healthcare bill. During Schaufler's campaign for the 2012 primary election, he was further criticized for accepting a $3,000 donation from the conservative Koch Industries, although Schaufler later returned the money after public backlash.

PacifiCorp's, Malin Substation, Series Capacitor Project Christenson's High Voltage Division completes a major project for PacifiCorp near Malin Oregon. This project consisted of the installation of an Areva 500kV Fixed Series Capacitor Bank. This facility will help PacifiCorp regulate the voltage of their Round Mountain #2 500kV Transmission Line. The station covers over 3.5 acres and features three large platforms full of equipment. Each of the three steel platforms measuring 45' X 80' is positioned on an array of insulating columns. The platforms are first assembled then raised into place using two 150 Ton cranes. The weight of the platforms was around 120000 pounds during the lift. After they were set in place and secured, the rest of the equipment was lifted onto them. The General Forman on the job had his hands full coordinating the delivery of over 44 truckloads of material which came from eight different countries around the world. The project started in August 2010 and was completed in January 2011.
