Frank and Jesse James - Two versions
Confrontation scene between the James brothers in two film versions: "Jesse James" (1939), directed by Henry King, with Tyrone Power and Henry Fonda and "The True Story of Jesse James" (1957), directed by Nicholas Ray, with Robert Wagner and Jeffrey Hunter. The screenplay in Ray's film, written by Walter Newman, was based on Nunnally Johnson's 1939 original. In the 1957 version the confrontation takes place right after the unsuccessful raid on Northfield Bank; in H. King's film it precedes that event.

Jesse James' Women (1954)
Jesse James leaves Missouri for Mississippi, and immediately charms all the women in Mississippi out of their bloomers and garters. His first conquest is the banker's daughter who helps him loot the bank in exchange for a promise of marriage; he wanders over to the saloon and runs the crooked partner of the proprietress out of town, takes all of his-and-her money and leaves her, between kisses, hounding him for her share; the third one, the saloon singer, actually makes a mark out of him as she cons him into a boxing match against a professional fighter and he loses the fight and his money, but he holds the singer and the fighter up as they leave town and gets his money back; and then he romances and swindles Cattle Kate, a replay of what he had done somewhere before to Kate and the "gotcha-again" Kate even ends up behind bars. The True Story of Jesse James (1957) trailer
A 1957 American Western drama film adapted from Henry King's 1939 film Jesse James, which was only loosely based on James' life. It was directed by Nicholas Ray, with Robert Wagner portraying Jesse James and Jeffrey Hunter starring as Frank James. Jesse (Robert Wagner) and Frank James (Jeffrey Hunter) ride with their gang into Northfield, Minnesota for a raid. While robbing a bank, gun fighting breaks out and two of the gang are killed. The James Brothers and another gang member head out of town and hide out while investigators from the Remington Detective Agency search for James to receive a $30000 reward. While the three are hiding, the film tells the story of how the James Brothers came to be criminals in flashback.

Happy Go Lucky Polka - Adolph Hofner (Sung in Bohemian/Czech)
You can hear the Jesse James & All The Boys version here... youtu.be - Adolph Hofner was born in Moulton, Texas, on June 8, 1916 and raised on a farm in Lavaca County, TX. Hofner's father was part German and his mother was Czech. Growing up in a primarily Czech community, Hofner heard polkas, schottisches, and other forms of local dance music. When he and his family moved to San Antonio in 1928, he and his steel guitar-playing brother, Emil, began performing in local clubs. Their sound reflected several strands of the Texas musical mosaic. Adolph was a crooner, and Emil, like other early Texas swing musicians, emulated Hawaiian sounds. After the brothers heard the pioneering music of Milton Brown and Bob Wills, they began playing the jazz-inflected country-dance music that in retrospect was labeled Western swing. Adolph, whose smooth singing style earned him the nickname the « Bing Crosby of Country, » first recorded with Jimmie Revard's Oklahoma Playboys, a major musical attraction in 1930s San Antonio. Hofner also cut some sides as a solo vocalist and performed on vocals with Tom Dickey's Show Boys. His lead vocals on « It Makes No Difference Now » became a hit in its own right and inspired Hofner to form his own band in 1939. At first the band was known as Adolph Hofner & His Texans, but when they began recording for OKeh and Columbia in the early '40s with the addition of fiddler JR Chatwell, they were called the San Antonians. Among their best-known tunes were «Maria ...

INSPIRATION:
The Imaginary Foundation says "To Understand Is To Perceive Patterns"...
Albert-László Barabási, author of LINKED, wants you to think about NETWORKS:
“Networks are everywhere. The brain is a network of nerve cells connected by axons, and cells themselves are networks of molecules connected by biochemical reactions. Societies, too, are networks of people linked by friendships, familial relationships and professional ties. On a larger scale, food webs and ecosystems can be represented as networks of species. And networks pervade technology: the Internet, power grids and transportation systems are but a few examples. Even the language we are using to convey these thoughts to you is a network, made up of words connected by syntactic relationships.”
'For decades, we assumed that the components of such complex systems as the cell, the society, or the Internet are randomly wired together. In the past decade, an avalanche of research has shown that many real networks, independent of their age, function, and scope, converge to similar architectures, a universality that allowed researchers from different disciplines to embrace network theory as a common paradigm.'
Steven Johnson, author of Where Good Ideas Come From, writes about recurring patterns and liquid networks:
“Coral reefs are sometimes called “the cities of the sea”, and part of the argument is that we need to take the metaphor seriously: the reef ecosystem is so innovative because it shares some defining characteristics with actual cities. These patterns of innovation and creativity are fractal: they reappear in recognizable form as you zoom in and out, from molecule to neuron to pixel to sidewalk. Whether you’re looking at original innovations of carbon-based life, or the explosion of news tools on the web, the same shapes keep turning up... when life gets creative, it has a tendency to gravitate toward certain recurring patterns, whether those patterns are self-organizing, or whether they are deliberately crafted by human agents”
Patrick Pittman from Dumbo Feather adds:
“Put simply: cities are like ant colonies are like software is like slime molds are like evolution is like disease is like sewage systems are like poetry is like the neural pathways in our brain. Everything is connected.
"...Johnson uses ‘The Long Zoom’ to define the way he looks at the world—if you concentrate on any one level, there are patterns that you miss. When you step back and simultaneously consider, say, the sentience of a slime mold, the cultural life of downtown Manhattan and the behavior of artificially intelligent computer code, new patterns emerge.”
James Gleick, author of THE INFORMATION, has written how the cells of an organism are nodes in a richly interwoven communications network, transmitting and receiving, coding and decoding and how Evolution itself embodies an ongoing exchange of information between organism and environment.. (Its an ECO-SYSTEM, an EVOLVING NETWORK)
“If you want to understand life,” Wrote Richard Dawkins, “don’t think about vibrant, throbbing gels and oozes, think about information technology." (AND THINK ABOUT NETWORKS!!
Geoffrey West, from The Santa Fe Institute, also believes in the pivotal role of NETWORKS:
"...Network systems can sustain life at all scales, whether intracellularly or within you and me or in ecosystems or within a city.... If you have a million citizens in a city or if you have 1014 cells in your body, they have to be networked together in some optimal way for that system to function, to adapt, to grow, to mitigate, and to be long term resilient."
Author Paul Stammetts writes about The Mycelial Archetype: He compares the mushroom mycelium with the overlapping information-sharing systems that comprise the Internet, with the networked neurons in the brain, and with a computer model of dark matter in the universe. All share this densely intertwingled filamental structure.
An article in Reality Sandwich called Google a psychedelically informed superpowered network, a manifestation of the mycelial archetype:
“Recognizing this super-connectivity and conductivity is often accompanied by blissful mindbody states and the cognitive ecstasy of multiple "aha's!" when the patterns in the mycelium are revealed. That Googling that has become a prime noetic technology (How can we recognize a pattern and connect more and more, faster and faster?: superconnectivity and superconductivity) mirrors the increased speed of connection of thought-forms from cannabis highs on up. The whole process is driven by desire not only for these blissful states in and of themselves, but also as the cognitive resource they represent. The devices of

Tyrone Power - A song for Dad.
Tyrone Power was born into a famous acting dynasty. He was the son of identically named stage star Tyrone Power Sr. and the grandson of the first Tyrone Power, an Irish comedian. Power's parents divorced when he was young, but Power Sr. continued to encourage his son's interest in acting from a distance. In 1931, Power reunited with his father on the New York stage. Sadly, the father/son partnership was cut short that same year when Power Sr. died suddenly from a heart attack. The young Power went on to pursue his acting dream, and was eventually signed by Twentieth Century Fox in 1936. The studio first starred him in In Old Chicago (1937), and kept him on top in lavish musicals such as Alexander's Ragtime Band(1938), Westerns such as Jesse James (1939), and costume dramas such as Blood and Sand (1941). Stiffer than Errol Flynn, he was nevertheless a dashing swordsman in hugely enjoyable swashbucklers - such as The Mark of Zorro (1940), Son of Fury: The Story of Benjamin Blake (1942), and The Black Swan (1942) - but Power soon grew frustrated that his pinup handsomeness barred him from winning more eccentric, demanding roles. After a stint as a pilot for the Marine Corps during World War II, Power returned to Hollywood, where Twentieth Century Fox finally indulged his ambitions with The Razor's Edge (1946) and Nightmare Alley (1947). In his role as a bogus mystic, Nightmare Alley is Power's best screen work, showing great range. In the 1950s, he acted in a few good cowboy ...

History of the Classic Cars: The Glory of 1939
www.VoyagerClassics.com http Nineteen thirty-nine, oh nineteen thirty-nine. A lot of great things happened in 1939. Movie historians and film enthusiasts often look back to the year as the "greatest year in film history." Hollywood was reaching the heights of its golden age, and this was the year that saw the release of an unusual large number of noteworthy movies that have become honored as all-time classics. Such examples of 1939 movies were 20th Century Fox's "Jesse James," RKO's "Hunchback of Notre Dame," and MGM's memorable "Gone with the Wind," and "The Wizard of Oz." Nineteen thirty-nine was also the year when Bob Kane's creation, "Batman" made its first appearance. That was on May 2, 1939. Then John Steinbeck's lauded novel "The Grapes of Wrath" was first published on April 14 of the same year. Great stars were born in 1939, too. The American singer Neil Sedaka was born on March 13, soul brother Marvin Gaye on April 2, and the orgininal godfather, American film director Francis Ford Coppola on April 7. Speaking of stars being born on this year, another star came into being as well. But unlike the aforementioned ones that dominated the silverscreen. This one star was the king of the road: the 1939 Buick Roadmaster Convertible. Nineteen thirty-nine was a transitional year for Buick Motor Division in regards to styling and fashion. Lots of changes and experiments added up to big changes to the automobile company especially on its other car models such as the Buick ...
