American recording artist CeCe Peniston entered the music industry as a backup vocalist on the Overweight Pooch's album Female Preacher, released in July 1991 on A&M Records. Shortly before that though, she was featured on the B-side to 12-inch single "I Can't Take the Power" by a male rapper, Marvelous JC. Besides her vocal performance on the Pooch's only charting track, "I Like It", she was also given a credit for co-writing two compositions; "Kickin' Da Blues" and the titular, "Female Preacher". Soon after, singer pursued her own solo career. By now, Peniston has released four studio albums including one as a member of The Sisters of Glory, two remix collections, four compilations and one live extended play (EP). Her singles discography features twenty-five physical releases, twelve digital-only, nine promotional recordings and twenty-one other appearances; regardless of their format. She has also been included on one video album and has made thirteen music videos.
CeCe Peniston (born Cecilia Veronica Peniston; September 6, 1969) is an American recording artist and former beauty queen. In the early 1990s, she was one of the most successful dance club artists in the history of the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play, scoring five number one hits in the chart within three years. Her signature song “Finally” (#5 in the Hot 100 and #2 in UK Top 75) became one of the biggest dance singles, selling three million copies worldwide.
Peniston has performed at private engagements for Aretha Franklin's private birthday party in Detroit, Michigan, Pope John Paul II in Rome at the Vatican (as a member of the gospel band Sisters of Glory) and the 42nd President of the United States, Bill Clinton, during both of his inauguration ceremonies in Washington, D.C. She was the first foreign female entertainer to perform in post-apartheid South Africa.
On February 4, 2011, Peniston signed a record deal with West Swagg Music Group/Bungalo Records, with full distribution through Universal Music Group Distribution, and announced release of a new solo album 15 years after her last studio set (I'm Movin' On from 1996 on A&M Records). By the end of the year, however, only three digital singles had been issued including a new song called "Stoopid!", and two cover versions of her prior hits, "Keep On Walkin'" and "Finally".
"CeCe Peniston" also known as "EP Live" is a digital EP by the artist CeCe Peniston and released on July 14, 2008, on One Media Publishing.
The lead track of the EP (recorded in April 2007 at Avalon, Hollywood) featured Peniston's R&B hit from 1992 "Keep On Walkin'. The other tracks included Last Dance (cover version of the Donna Summer's hit from 1978), and her own Finally from 1991.
The virtual EP was later attached to the live CD Divas of Disco – Live, which was released on Pegasus in 2010 in Europe. Since January 14, 2011 the EP is manufactured on demand by CreateSpace (part of the Amazon) also on CD.
On March 1, 2013, an edited version of the EP was reissued as a digital download through Jersey/Delta along with a different art work and a modified track list.
I've tried to let it go
I can't believe it's over
It's hard to let you go
Cause I can't sleep at night
And that's one thing that I know
I'm not, not over you
I'm not, not over you
I don't why it's over
I don't know where to turn
I tried to let it go
And that's one thing that I know
I'm not, not over you
I'm not, not over you
CHORUS:
Tell me what can I do
When I know that we are through
Can't get you off my mind
Think about you all the time
I can't get over you
No matter what I do
I'm not, not over you
I know inside I gave it,
I gave it all I had
I did all I could do
And still it hurts me so bad
I'm not, not over you
