What is Technology Management?
"For some people, MoT relates to scientific research and the development of new concepts. To others, MoT means engineering design and development, manufacturing, or operations management, while yet others relate MoT to managing hospitals, financial businesses, the Olympic Games, or eBay. Indeed, the scope of MoT is very broad and diverse. Its boundaries also overlap considerably with those of the major disciplines of science, engineering, and management. Furthermore, with the increasing complexity of our business environment, MoT focuses more strongly on 'managing' the organizational processes and the people affiliated with them" (Thamhain, 2005, p. 4). Western Kentucky University, Master of Science in Technology Management.

Technology Management Program UCSB: Energy Peak Oil
Peak oil theory states that oil will have a beginning, middle, and an end of production, and at some point it will reach a level of maximum output. It is estimated that approximately half of all oil that will be recovered, has been recovered, and oil production may reach a peak in the near future, or perhaps already has. Then what? This was filmed between 4th and 11th April 2011. I had the pleasure of visiting El Teide.
Spain´s highest mountain @(3718m) is one of the best places in the world to photograph the stars and is also the location of Teide Observatories, considered to be one of the world´s best observatories.
The goal was to capture the beautiful Milky Way galaxy along with one of the most amazing mountains I know El Teide. I have to say this was one of the most exhausting trips I have done. There was a lot of hiking at high altitudes and probably less than 10 hours of sleep in total for the whole week. Having been here 10-11 times before I had a long list of must-see locations I wanted to capture for this movie, but I am still not 100% used to carrying around so much gear required for time-lapse movies.
A large sandstorm hit the Sahara Desert on the 9th April (http://bit.ly/g3tsDW) and at approx 3am in the night the sandstorm hit me, making it nearly impossible to see the sky with my own eyes.
Interestingly enough my camera was set for a 5 hour sequence of the milky way during this time and I was sure my whole scene was ruined. To my surprise, my camera had managed to capture the sandstorm which was backlit by Grand Canary Island making it look like golden clouds. The Milky Way was shining through the clouds, making the stars sparkle in an interesting way. So if you ever wondered how the Milky Way would look through a Sahara sandstorm, look at 00:32.

The V Motion Project
The Motion Project was a collaboration between a lot of clever creative people working together to create a machine that turns motion into music. The client for the project, Frucor (makers of V energy drink), together with their agency Colenso BBDO, kitted-out a warehouse space for this project to grow in and gathered together a group of talented people from a number of creative fields.
http://www.v.co.nz/#the-motion-project
We created and designed the live visual spectacle with a music video being produced from the results. We wanted it to be clear that the technology was real and actually being played live. The interface plays a key role in illustrating the idea of the instrument and we designed it to highlight the audio being controlled by the dancer. Design elements like real time tracking and samples being drawn on as they are played all add to authenticity of the performance. The visuals are all created live and the music video is essentially a real document of the night.

"Het Klokhuis" Opening titles
Stop motion title sequence for Dutch science show "Het Klokhuis" (The Apple Core). It is Hollands oldest youth television show, covering everything from the history of dinosaurs to how an iPhone is made.
This was commissioned by advertising agency Kesselskramer, produced at Nexus Productions, and was made in collaboration with model maker / sculptor Jethro Haynes. The apples and core models were built using 3D printing technology in order to maintain the logo shape.
There's an in-depth article about the making of this title sequence here:

21 Balançoires (21 Swings)
21 Swings
Exercise in musical cooperation
Every spring, an interactive installation takes over a high-traffic area in Montréal’s Quartier des spectacles and sets a collective ritual. The installation offers a fresh look at the idea of cooperation, the notion that we can achieve more together than separately.
The result is a giant instrument made of 21 musical swings; each swing in motion triggers different notes, all the swings together compose a piece, but some sounds only emerge from cooperation.
The project stimulates ownership of the public space, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds, and creating a place for playing and hanging out in the middle of the city centre.
A traveling version of the project is currently being made for these collective moments to spread around the world.

Gary Hamel: Reinventing the Technology of Human Accomplishment
Watch Gary Hamel, celebrated management thinker and author and co-founder of the Management Innovation eXchange (MIX), make the case for reinventing management for the 21st century. In this fast-paced, idea-packed, 15-minute video essay, Hamel paints a vivid picture of what it means to build organizations that are fundamentally fit for the future—and genuinely fit for human beings. It's time to radically rethink how we mobilize people and organize resources to productive ends. Here's how we start. This video is an excerpt from the University of Phoenix Distinguished Guest Video Lecture Series.

UVU: Technology Management
WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT? Technology management involves the application of management skills to the discovery, development, operation, and proper use of technology. Technology managers help create value for their organization by using technology and other resources to solve problems and improve efficiency and effectiveness. In short, twenty-first century technology managers help ensure that technology creates a better future for all. Our flagship degree is the BS in Technology Management (TM). Students may enter this degree with almost any AAS degree in a technical area or with 45 approved technical credits without an AAS degree. We also offer the Integrated Studies emphasis for the TM BS degree. This degree allows students to blend TM courses with another selected area. Finally, we offer the AAS degree in Technology. This degree is designed for individuals who have obtained licenses, certifications, apprenticeships, etc. and desire to continue their college education. We also offer a minor in TM for interested students.
