The idea of becoming a bridge between you - as the travelers - and the locals - as the host - fascinated us; and so we decided to provide services for foreigners who would like to visit certain places in Indonesia without having to feel like a tourist. Now, why don't we all just agree that being a tourist is sometimes limiting your access to actually enjoy and experience the real meaning behind traveling, shall we? www.wanderlust-indonesia.com watch more videos : Ujung Kulon youtu.be Karimun Jawa youtu.be GoPro Hero Canon 500D Sony HXR 1500 Supported By : HELLTRUST DIG Documentary Production : DREAMICON INDONESIA www.dream-icon.com

Badui Tribe from West Java
Sardi is from Baduy Dalam, a tribe now counting 3 villages and about 400 people in the village where Sardi lives. They live close by the nature, so they are not allowed to use any technology, no shoes, no tooth brushes, toothpaste, no plastic or metallic products. They make their own shirts and bags. Simple people with no modern education, but they are the kindest people one can meet. They NEVER get angry, they won't hurt other human beings and they have a high spiritual culture. That make one think about the education and the technology push and the greed we have cultivated in modern society. What is the real meaning of existence? These people seem happy without education and without modern technology. They have visited me over the years and they walk barefeet from their mountain to Jakarta within 3 days. No shoes sandals or any means of transportation but their own feet. So how happy should we be?

Ayun Ambing - Sundanese traditional music (West Java)
The Sundanese are Indonesia's second largest ethnic group. They live in the province of West Java. Sundanese Traditional Music (West Java) web.mac.com web.mac.com A large proportion of Sundanese music is performed on gamelans, sets of bronze or iron instruments supported by carved wooden racks. A Sundanese gamelan usually consists of a core group of metallophones (saron), horizontal gong-chime sets (bonang), vertically suspended gongs (go'ong), and a set of barrel drums (kendang). Other features, including xylophones, aerophones (flutes or oboes), a bowed lute, and vocalists, are included according to the type of ensemble. Pieces for gamelan are normally organized in cycles, with the ending of each cycle marked by the low pitch of the go'ong. These cycles may be played many times in a single piece. The drummer demarcates the cycle by outlining specific patterns; he also acts as the timekeeper, coordinator, and controller of dynamics. Gamelans in West Java encompass a variety of types, from the ubiquitous five-tone gamelan saléndro to the rare seven-tone gamelan pélog, the multi-laras (multiple-tuning) gamelan of Asep Sunandar Sunarya, and the five-tone gamelan degung. Gamelan saléndro is used in instrumental performance, and as the accompaniment for a solo female vocalist, a dance, or the Sundanese three-dimensional rod-puppet theater (wayang golèk). In addition to the standard instrumentarium of metallophones, drums, gong chimes, and gongs, it includes a bowed lute <b>...</b>

Indonesia earthquake buries scores in Java - 03 Sept 09
Rescuers in Indonesia's West Java are battling to reach dozens of people believed to have been buried alive by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake. Nearly 50 people have been killed and about 5000 forced into shelter homes. Tremors from the epicentre off the coast of West Java were also felt hundreds of kilometres away in Jakarta, the capital. Al Jazeera's Step Vaessen reports from the town of Pangalengan, one of the worst-hit areas.

VS Signs Jake Stone
Nick Mesritz Designs is pleased to announce that Jake Stone has signed on as the latest addition to the VS Project. Jake will join Ryan Hardy & Joe Clarke in one of the world's most exclusive and dynamic bodyboarding teams.
Speaking from his state-of-the-art production facility in East Java, Indonesia, Mez commented: "We are stoked to have signed Jake to VS. I have been closely watching his progression over the last couple of seasons and Jake has graduated from the hot grom of yesterday to a solidified professional rider. He has benefited from his move to the West Side of Australia, which has enabled Jake to take his surfing to the next level. >From riding fun wedges, to taming gigantic kegs in the outer ocean, Jake is the perfect candidate to push the boundaries for the next evolution of the VS project"
Jake’s first efforts as a VS team rider will be to tackle Hawaii's famed North Shore. While on "The Rock", Jake will unveil his new VS set-up at the first event for 2011 of the IBA Grand Slam Tour; The Pipeline Pro. With his breakthrough IBA victory in Ferrol, Spain last season, at only 21 years of age, Jake is a genuine World Title Contender for the 2011 Tour.
This year the VS Project takes on a different direction. With 2 of the foundation shapers of the project taking the next step in their respective careers, the dynamic of the shaper aspect has evolved. Todd Quigley heads up the shaping and design facility in Australia, where he will work closely with the 3 riders to develop and refine their boards. Nick Mesritz is taking on a more active role working closely with both Todd and the riders to provide expert knowledge in the areas of construction and material design. With Todd as head shaper, Mez running the VS production in Indonesia and the riders taking care of business in the water, this 1, 2, 3 synergy will undoubtedly deliver one of the most progressive bodyboard ranges in the world.
The VS Jake Stone signature series is in development and will be available in leading surf stores worldwide later in the year. In the meantime, the VS Project is proud to release Jake's first VS podcast.

This was the first place we settled into while in Indonesia. A true isolated paradise. We will definitely be back. The wave seemed a hell of a lot more treacherous when we were out in the water. Looks pretty nice on film.
