Apple II Forever
While the Macintosh was still in "The First 100 Days" of launch mode, a new product in the Apple II family was announced -- the Apple IIc. Remember folks, the Apple II family "paid the party" and created a positive revenue stream and profits while the Macintosh was getting established. Without the Apple IIe and Apple IIc sales, the Macintosh could not have happened. So, enjoy this segment from the April 1984 Apple IIc rollout conference at the Moscone Center in California. - Alfred

Tech : We Are Apple (Leading The Way)
www.Alfred.TV Follow me on Twitter at http INFO: This was a corporate song that was used during the Macintosh rollout in January, 1984. I heard it live, in Manhattan, sitting in the audience as with the other authorized Apple dealers/retailers at the time. The song was a bit of a diversion between product announcements, and was meant to energize the audience a bit. At this meeting, Apple introduced the Macintosh and the new line of Lisa computer systems. The copy that's been out on the Internet was pretty ratty looking, with dropouts in the video and the audio. I digitized and restored this version from a first generation VHS tape in my personal library. I also extracted the audio and enhanced it in my home studio to give it some more punch and reduce the noise. So, if you are into technology, Apple corporate history, or computing, you will enjoy this. if you're not, and you just like the videos of me and my family and my bad jokes -- don't watch it, because the song is really cheesy and is a blatant rip off of Irene Cara's "Flashdance" song. Trivia: when I saw this 'live' at the Mac introduction, we, as Apple Dealers, all LAUGHED OUR ASSES OFF at time marker 02:47 - when the guy carried a 60 pound LISA computer under his arm like it was a laptop! Trivia: Some fellow Apple Dealers, who were watching the Macintosh introduction, got out of their seats to call their stock brokers from the pay phones to issue a 'buy' order! Smart. I wish I did the same. I was too involved in ...

The Goonies for the Apple II
Came also out for: Amstrad CPC Atari 8-bit Commodore 64 ZX Spectrum Game description: Datasoft's The Goonies is one of the most fondly-remembered games in the genre of platform action-adventure-puzzle games for which Datasoft was known (other games included Conan: Hall of Volta, Bruce Lee, and Zorro, all well-regarded classics). The game is licensed from the internationally-beloved Steven Speilberg film of the same name, in which a motley crew of suburban kids in Astoria, Oregon, must save their homes from being foreclosed upon and find their salvation in a treasure map leading to an old pirate ship in a cavern. However, they must maneuver around an eccentric family of Italian criminals -- the Fratellis -- on the lam, who are also on the trail of the treasure. The game is divided into a series of eight screens based on scenes from the film, each of which contains unique and creative puzzles that must be solved by coordinating the activities of two of the kids from the Goonies (and in the last screen, the elephant-man-like Sloth) without getting killed by deadly bats, homicidal Fratellis, flying demon-skull thingies, or other environmental hazards. For example, in one screen one player must wind up and hold a winch that lifts a large stone so that the other player can pass it, run backward on a ball floating in deadly water, bypass a series of three water buckets going up and down that kill you if you do not time your passage underneath correctly, jump to the top of a rail ...

Apple II Plus running old games
This is a vintage Apple II Plus (aka Apple ][ Plus), equipped with two 5.25 floppy drives, loading old games from floppy disks. It is connected to an analog tube TV monitor. The first game is a simulation of Summer Olympics. The second game is a Math educational puzzle. The video was captured with use of iPhone 4 and edited in iMovie. The whole act was like a Thanksgiving family reunion: a kid (iPhone) watching his Grandpa (Apple II) playing old forgotten games. I'm sure Steve Jobs was somewhere around, in spirit.

Maniac Mansion for the Apple II
Came also out for: Amiga Atari ST Commodore 64 DOS NES Game description: The Edison mansion has always been a creepy old house on the edge of town. There have been rumors of strange experiments going on and of odd creatures living amongst the Edison family. There is even a story that a meteorite once crashed near the home nearly 20 years ago. More immediately, a girl named Sandy has gone missing from the local highschool and her boyfriend Dave swears that he saw Dr. Fred abducting her. Dave knows that he cannot do it alone and will need help from two other students if he has any hope of infiltrating the mansion and rescuing Sandy. Players start by choosing 2 students to accompany Dave to the Edison mansion, and can then switch between these three characters at will. Most actions are carried out by selecting verbs on the screen and applying them to an object (such as "OPEN Door"). Each character maintains a separate personality and may have a different way to solve a problem from his classmates. Thus many of the puzzles can be overcome in different ways depending on the character being used. If any one of the kids are captured by the Edisons, they are thrown into the dungeon and must be rescued themselves by any character who still has their freedom. What I think: Ah, Maniac Mansion, such a classic. But the Apple II version isnt as classic as other versions. I have played them all, except for the Atari ST one, so I don't know if that version is even "worse" or not. Anyways ...

My Vintage Apple II, Macintosh & Radio Shack TRS-80 Computer Collection
For everyone who has been asking me about my vintage computer collection, here is the description of the items and their significance: Radio Shack (Tandy) TRS-80 Model 1 16k Level II computer This computer was the first I ever owned. My late father was an Amateur radio operator and Tandy (Radio Shack) was the place to go for all your radio needs in the 70's. My dad became friends with the CEO of Tandy Australia. In 1977 Apple had just released the Apple II in the USA and about a month later, along came Radio Shack with this TRS-80 model. Radio Shack was already a multi-national company, so it around November 1977 that the CEO of Tandy Australia was sent two TRS-80's to evaluate and see how to market them in Australia.. These 2 computers were the very first "personal computers" to land on Australian soil. My dad pleaded with this guy to buy one off him (they were pre-release) to give to me. Because it cost my dad so much, I was told to look after it. So I did and here it is.. 35 years later and in near perfect condition. I don't know what became of the other TRS-80, but I would suspect its long gone.. So this is now serial number verifiable as the first PC sold to the public in Australia. Apple II Computer I got this only about 2 months after the Tandy. My dad bought this for me via another friend of his he talked to on the radio who lived in Palo Alto (now known as silicon valley). He told my dad there was this electronics shop close by to him called the "byte shop" and ...

Conan: Hall of Volta for the Atari 8-bit family
Came also out for: Apple II Commodore 64 FM-7 Game description: You, Conan the Barbarian, must enter a castle and defeat the evil Volta. You are armed with ten boomerang swords and your own cunning. Along the way magic gems, keys and an "Avian Ally" will help you through seven very diverse levels in which you must navigate treacherous obstacles including lava pits, powerful geysers that hurl you into the air, spike pits, and floating platforms. Volta's castle is guarded by several of his nasty beasts: bats, scorpions, giant ants, fire-breathing dragons, floating eyeballs, and even a huge electrical generator gone haywire -- you'll soon realize why he calls himself "Volta". What I think: While not as good as the Apple II version (which this version is a port of), it still is a really fun version and should be checked out. The only thing that might be annoying is that Conan sometimes flickers.

Christina + Greg SDE | My great buddy's wedding
There are all kinds of pressure in our profession. Pressure of capturing the once in a lifetime moment, pressure of time, pressure of finishing a SDE. But the high unspoken demand of delivering a SDE for one of the top dogs in the industry and his new wife must have been one of my highest pressure tasks this year :)
How do you prepare to wow a person who wows his couples each weekend?
Well, Mark and I chose to drive to Jersey by car. Nice eight hour drive was full of brainstorming and looking for a perfect song… And, like it often happens, the planning and concepts went out the window the night before the wedding. Close to midnight, we followed both Christina and Greg to their places, spying on their last preparations for the day. That changed everything...
I had at least 3 different songs ready for the SDE the night before. However halfway through the wedding day, few hours before we showed the SDE, I chose the song that I had been wanting to use for a long time. I had listened to it for a thousand times in my car and imagined different edits but never dared to edit a SDE to it, up till now… now was the moment.
Enjoy and leave comments ;)

We shot this piece with a crew of 3. Mark Klassen drove up with me and the third person was Greg’s teammate from Endless Wave Studios - Ryan Gordon.
Mark and I shot bride preps in the morning as Ryan shot groom preps. We then joined Ryan at Greg’s place for the gift exchange and quickly drove back to the bride’s house.
The ceremony was supposed to happen outdoors, but the high chances of rain forced us to stay indoors. That eliminated the concept of cutting between rehearsal and ceremony footage and using smart transitions between the two. We had everything ready on the timeline from the day before but we had to leave it out.
The reception was shot by Ryan and Mark except the introductions and 1st dance. I was in full editing mode, trying to tackle a 6min edit with voiceovers. Mark synced and prepared the vows for me to use in the SDE.
The shots of the limo driving were done by Mark with a monopod with me as a driver ☺
Lenses used:
50 f1.2, 24 1.4 II, 135 f2, 70-200 f2.8, 24-70 f2.8 and 24-105 f4
Audio:
2x sennheiser wireless mics
zoom h4n
2 irivers
tascam DR-07
EDIROL R-09
During the first meeting, we put both iriver and wireless mic on Greg.
Editing workflow:
Each one of us cut his footage himself up till ceremony. After that, I focused on developing the story, as Mark cut all the footage from the ceremony and reception for me, whenever he had a moment to spare.
The hardest part of the whole process was the export. It took us longer that usually to do, as the SDE was displayed on a few large plasma TVs surrounding the dance floor for which we had to burn a DVD. Normally I export the SDE to AppleTV format which takes around 13 min for a 4min clip.
PERSONAL/STORYTELLING NOTES
I must admit that I really like the complex story line in that piece.
The beginning of a clip was such a blessing for us. The bride was having a sleepover with the girls the night before the wedding. She wrote her vows, wrapped the gift and they all watched the movie “My best friend’s wedding”
That, right there was a perfect opening to the SDE. She starts a movie, a chick flick. A movie that girls usually watch all teary eyed, imaging their own big day, some day, one day ... tomorrow. Yes! That was the best part of it. They’re watching a wedding movie the night before Christina’s wedding. The transition to one of the most romantic and most awaited moments during the wedding - their first dance as husband and wife - felt so natural.
It's as if the dream became reality, you can say, as she plays the movie and the movie is about them.
The second motive was the gift ☺ I knew about that gift for weeks before the wedding. Christina told me long before. I knew how Greg wanted a 7d to add to his arsenal and he even mentioned it multiple times during the 2 days that we were there prior to the wedding. So I wanted to play around a little and take the viewer on a mini journey of curiosity, to let him find out about the gift a little later in the clip. I really enjoy seeing people watch it for the first time and being almost angry at first that it is not revealed what Greg got, only to find out 2 minutes later, that it was left out for a reason.
As the music slows down, I particularly like the moment of Christina tying the ribbon and it sliding down when the plates hit in the music, after which the music dips down. Right away, the VO comes up, very emotional to the couple. Greg’s father gives a great speech as we unfold the rehearsal dinner. Family is very important to the two of them and I wanted to showcase them all being together, having a great time with champagne and great food ☺

Amazing Factory Productions proudly presents We Are The City's High School (A Video Series)
This series has a video for every song on We Are The City's latest release "High School." The videos were created in record time, and with the help of many of our close friends and family, and lots of late nights and early mornings. We strongly feel that these videos need to be presented all together, much like you’d sit down to listen to a vinyl record, they belong as one collective piece.
We hope you enjoy this collaboration.

Larry's Testimony in Support of HB 2372
Testimony of Larry Halloran in support of HB 2372;
Chairman Kinzer and Members of the House Judiciary Committee,
We ask for your support of HB 2372; An Act concerning immigration; requiring verification of employment eligibility and making other amendments concerning immigration.
The fundamental question today is not illegal immigration itself. If we are a nation of laws and are faithful to our obligations as citizens or legislators then we will rightfully conclude that the rule of law is the bedrock foundation of our society and passage of this legislation should require little debate.
I would not dispute that employer and citizen alike have found the blind eye beneficial to their pocket book but financial gain, open borders or humanitarian compassion are not acceptable substitutes for the rule of law. Yesterdays benefit (however perceived) is today's liability as our citizens find themselves struggling to meet the increased burden of illegal immigration on our society that cannot be measured in financial terms alone.
The blessings and benefits of America are bountiful. But, if they are to be preserved for our posterity and those seeking the benefit of citizenship they must be secured by principled adherence to our state and federal Constitutions.
Illegal immigration is a festering cancer that damages both our society and those unlawfully seeking employment. It creates the necessity for a second society operating under the radar that inhibits the necessary assimilation of new immigrants into the America family. We are no longer concerned with a few thousand illegal immigrants that could be easily absorbed but rather tens of millions that now tax the limits of our social networks. It is past time for the half measured approaches, nod and wink policies and felonious excuses of citizen, employer and legislator alike related to the employment eligibility of illegal immigrants are put to rest. It is time that a lawful approach to employment eligibility verification becomes the rule for all employers and the accepted social norm for all citizens. Of even greater importance is that you, the citizen legislator, honor your oath of office and uphold the rule of law.
Our Founders studied the laws and customs of many nations (both failed and existing) and took from them guidance for our Constitution that best protected a free people and society. For over 200 years, our Constitution has served as the legal binder for our citizens and those wishing to assimilate into a free society. Today, many seek to dilute the authority of our Constitution through substitution of unlawful privileges that in essence establish an equal but separate society within our borders. A society that stands in stark contrast and in opposition to the fundamental necessity of assimilation at the expense of individual liberties guaranteed to all by our Constitution. Such practices serve to disadvantage the citizens and legal immigrants that play by the rules and adhere to our laws by granting unearned favor to the illegal immigrant.
Surely, we are all aware of the inequities, consequences and unquestionable failures of equal but separate jurisprudence practiced at times within our own society. To turn a blind eye or foster such practices is treasonous to our founding principles, documents and the faith of those who gave all to defend and preserve the greatest grant of freedom ever known to man; America.
The challenges before us in preserving the free society and America are indeed great but do include a provision for national suicide. Tolerance does not beget equal but separate in a free society but instead requires assimilation through shared core values and equal application of the laws
Thank you for your favorable support of HB 2372, your service and the defense of freedom for all.
Respectfully,

Danielle + David | Same Day Edit
A Winter Wonderland…
David and Danielle both share a deep love for each other. Their wedding day was filled with warm words from friends and family as they celebrated their coming together. Hearing Danielle’s father speak powerful, warm blessings over his daughter and new son-in-law’s marriage helped establish a level of emotion their ceremony and the rest of their day would continue in. There was a multitude of detail in the decor at the ceremony. Danielle walked along side her parents down the white isle, surrounded by fifteen foot high white-painted trees that David had cut down and carefully brought in himself. Their kiss was accompanied by falling rose petals from the chandelier above. Outside, we were surrounded by chilly but beautiful fresh white snow and everywhere we went we were overwhelmed by Christmas season decoration. The lights fit so well with their theme and kept that magical feeling going from the ceremony to the reception. Danielle and David have a vibrant display of joy; one that is genuine and outwardly conveyed in their film.
This was our very last Same Day Edit for 2011 and it was a great one to end the year with. We presented it right before their speech and we can’t say it enough; we love what we do and we are so appreciative when the couple values the memory enough to have their day captured. We are so honoured to be a part of their day and for their community to welcome us with open arms.
Kara & Becky of Jack and Ruby Photography made everyone feel so comfortable and made the day even more fun. It’s always a treat to work together with them.
Special thanks to Cody and Melissa for assisting us during the ceremony.
