EQUATOR - episode 1: AFRICA
Please visit www.simonreeve.co.uk for more information. For most people the equator is just an imaginary line running 25000-miles around the globe. But the countries along the equator are among the most troubled on the planet. In this series Simon Reeve takes a journey around the region with the greatest natural biodiversity and perhaps the greatest concentration of human suffering: the equator. Simon meets illegal loggers, father and son circumcisers, drunk villagers, and a young woman stuck in the baking desert. He is protected by soldiers in a coca field, and UN 'peace-enforcers' in a gold mine. Blackmailed and abandoned by drivers in one country, Simon travels through another that has just 300 miles of paved roads -- despite being the size of Western Europe. Simon is drenched while white-water rafting, surrounded by a million flamingoes and swallowed by a tidal wave. After being warned about the deadly virus Ebola, he vomits blood and develops a temperature of nearly 40C. Diagnosed with malaria, he's saved by medicine derived from the Vietnamese sweet wormwood. One remote tribe takes Simon to their sacred monument, while a man from another tribe of former head-hunters decides to make Simon part of the family: Simon is blessed with blood, presented with a short sword, and adopted. Elsewhere, Simon discovers a matrilineal society where daughters are called 'iron butterflies', mass graves in the jungle, and islands where protesting fisherman have killed giant tortoises ...

Earth's Equator after 20 degree Axis Shift
www.timelinetothefuture.com (science and research) http (people and communities) www.projecttristar.net (sustainability lifestyle model) http (connect on facebook) This video illustrates approximately where the new equator will be located after Earth's axis shift. This is based on data from Edgar Cacey and the Mayan Elders who indicate the axis shift could be approximately 20 degrees, placing the new North Pole in Russia. The white icon in the middle of the video marks the line of the new equator.

The equator wonder
www.ntv.co.ke At latitude zero degrees, lies the equator which is the an imaginary line on the Earth's surface equidistant from the North Pole and South Pole, dividing the Earth into the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere.Areas that lie on the equator in the country in Kenya like Nanyuki and Meru have become areas of keen interest by foreign tourists.

Equatorial Experiments
Find out what happens when you're stood on the equator. We visted Ecuador in September 2006, and took a trip to Mitad Del Mundo (Middle of the World). Where there's a line that marks the Equator. Unfortunately they got it wrong, and built the monument 200 metres off. So now there's 2 lines! one real one not!

What Happens on Equator
The gravity of Earth, denoted g, refers to the acceleration that the Earth imparts to objects on or near its surface. In SI units this acceleration is measured in metres per second per second (in symbols, m/s2 or m·s-2) or in newtons per kilogram (N/kg or N·kg-1). It has an approximate value of 9.81 m/s2, which means that, ignoring air resistance, the speed of an object falling freely near the Earth's surface increases by about 9.81 metres per second every second. This quantity is informally known as little g (contrasted with G, the gravitational constant, known as big G). There is a direct relationship between gravitational acceleration and the downwards weight force experienced by objects on Earth (see Conversion between weight and mass). However, other factors such as the rotation of the Earth also contribute to the net acceleration. The precise strength of the Earth's gravity varies depending on location. The nominal "average" value at the Earth's surface, known as standard gravity is, by definition, 9.80665 m/s2 (32.1740 ft/s2). This quantity is denoted variously as gn, ge (though this sometimes means the normal equatorial value on Earth, 9.78033 m/s2), g0, gee, or simply g (which is also used for the variable local value). The symbol g should not be confused with g, the abbreviation for gram (which is not italicized)

lost in a moment
one take impromptu film made in Tokyo by Dennis Wheatley
sitting in this sushi bar pondering how best to set up a camera to film things all by itself whilst in Tokyo.
Take hands out of the equation... let the camera have its own journey.
I'd taken a cannibalised record turntable with me from the UK with the idea of filming slow panoramas but it was painfully bumpy and stopped every minute.
Then the eureka moment sitting looking at the carousel
A few years later I was working on a piece of music and married the two together.
The music is all about that feeling when you're half asleep in the sun.. the ambiance of foreign voices becomes a lullaby to dream away.
There's something beautiful in not understanding a language.. it becomes abstract, musical.
Opera can be amazing when you can't understand the words!
What we loved about watching this film back was the space that the camera was able to enter.. extremely personal and scrutinising but not too lingering.
dennis
The music is 'lost in a moment' by 'shrift' from the album of the same name.
myspace.com/shriftspace
more trivia: film was originally taken in 1998... married with the music much later.
Thanks for all the positive comments.. will upload a better quality version soon.

Interactive Exploration of a Dynamical System
A user interface for exploring systems of differential equations. Every variable is shown as a plot; every parameter has a knob that can be adjusted in realtime. This ubiquitous visualization and in-context-manipulation helps the user develop a sense for how the parameters of the system influence its behavior.

Suzuki Equator Video Review - Kelley Blue Book
FOR PRICING & SPECS ON THIS CAR VISIT: www.kbb.com 2009 Suzuki Equator. Some may question the wisdom of introducing a new pickup truck at a time when environmental and economic concerns have many buyers choosing smaller vehicles. However, from Suzukis perspective their new mid-size Equator pickup makes plenty of sense. Fans of Suzukis ATVs and motorcycles now have a way to haul their toys without leaving the Suzuki brand. Based on current market demands, Suzuki expects the Equator to sell in modest numbers. Perhaps with this in mind, Suzuki chose to partner with Nissan, offering a lightly modified version of the Nissan Frontier rather than developing their truck from the ground up.
