MAP publishes a bi-weekly E-Newsletter - The Monitor, a bi-annual magazine - Witness and a Programme Report and Annual Review.

MAP also publishes briefing papers and contributes to multi-agency reports on issues related to Palestinian health across the Middle East.

WITNESS

Witness is MAP's supporter newsletter. Published every six months, its purpose is to thank donors for their support, to keep them informed on key issues in the region and to update them on our work.

Recent Editions:

Witness 17

(July 2012) As we approach a tragic milestone in the history of the Palestinian people, MAP remembers the massacre of Sabra and Shatila in September 1982. The massacre sent shockwaves through the region and inspired a team of medical professionals to set up MAP. In this edition, we feature an interview with Dr Swee Ang, a report on the Lancet-Palestinian Health Alliance's latest event in Beirut and news of MAP's joint report on child health in Gaza with Save the Children.

Witness 16

(February 2012) In this edition of Witness you will hear from MAP's new President, Baroness Morris, who brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge of the region. Particular focus is given to MAP's fringe events at the three main Party conferences and our health report 'Terminal Decline: Palestinian Health in Lebanon'.

Witness 15

(September 2011) In this edition you will hear from our Director of Programmes in Beirut. In Lebanon, our Maternal and Child Health work continues to make a huge difference in the lives of refugees in the camps of Nahr-el-Bared and Ein el-Helweh.

Witness 14

(February 2011) This edition of Witness brings people up to date with MAP's work across the Middle East. Particular focus is given to the issue of medical referrals from Gaza, with a letter from MAP President Chris Patten to the leadership of the EU concerning the blockade of Gaza included. In Lebanon MAP prepares for the release of a major report into Palestinian health by interviewing the UN's Salvatore Lombardo and featuring Suha's story, the tale of a Palestinian refugee struggling with cancer.

Witness 13

(August 2010) This edition of Witness marked the third anniversary of the blockade of Gaza. Following the war on Gaza we launched a critically-needed burns programme, upgrading old units, establishing new ones, providing equipment and training to treat burns casualties across the occupied Palestinian territory.

Witness 12

BRIEFING PAPERS

Terminal Decline? Palestinian refugee health in Lebanon

MAP aims to use this report as the basis from which to argue for fundamental improvements to the healthcare and living conditions of the Palestinian refugee population. There is a higher proportion of Palestinian UN hardship cases in Lebanon than anywhere else in the Middle East.

Britain & Palestine: A Parliamentary Focus

In June 2011, the Council of Arab and British Understanding (Cabu) and MAP organised a visit to the occupied Palestinian territories (oPt) for a group of British parliamentarians. Delegations provide parliamentarians with crucial first-hand experience of the region and of the issues that must be kept at the forefront of the political agenda.

REPORTS

Dashed Hopes: Continuation of the Gaza Blockade

In June 2010, the Government of Israel announced a set of measures that would 'ease' its illegal blockade of the Gaza strip. However, as this joint report, published with the support of many charities including MAP, shows this has done very little to help the Gazans. A large majority of the population depend on food aid and cannot receive necessary healthcare.

Gaza's Children: Falling Behind

In June 2012, MAP launched a joint report with Save the Children, 'Gaza's Children: Falling Behind', at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH). The report was launched to mark the fifth anniversary of the blockade of Gaza and highlights the devastating impact the ongoing siege is having on the lives of children. Every child has the right to the highest obtainable standard of health, a right that is being violated by the blockade.
