Riding a SEPTA Silverliner V from North Wales to Ambler

We are on SEPTA Train 581, the local to from Doylestown to Thorndale, as we take a ride in Silverliner V's from North Wales to Ambler. This is my first time riding the Silverliner V's, so I wanted to take a video showing the inside. These cars were built in 2010 by Hyundai Rotem in Philadelphia. We start the video as we depart North Wales. Once we clear the town, we pick up speed as we head towards the next station, which is Gwynedd Valley. From there, the next stop is Penllyn, followed by Ambler. One thing I wanted to show, which has nothing to do with the cars themselves, is get a shot of the 5 star epaulets of our conductor. Each star is equivalent to 5 years of service. This gentleman has 27 years, and is one of the more senior conductors on the roster. I think it is a nice uniform touch that other commuter railroads do not have. Anyway, enjoy the walking tour of the car we are in, as well as the outside view. The video shows a mother grabbing her four-year-old son and running for cover. A man sitting right by the back door is frozen, and can only slump back in his seat. And this 80-year-old woman doesn't know what to do. "You see her very clearly because she doesn't actually see what's going on. She's sort of left standing in the middle of the bus as everyone has sort of separated all the way to the front or all the way as far as they could go to the back," said Morgan Model Vedejs, assistant District Attorney. The elderly woman finally drops and covers her head, just a moment before a bullet flies right over her and shatters a window. "At least five of the bullets came right through the back door, several of them then came through the side," said Vedejs. Many of the other passengers ran toward the front of the bus, and piled on top of each other, desperate to get off. The man who criticized Chapman's parenting-- the target of all those bullets, according to prosecutors-- dove right on top of that four-year-old boy. The bus driver then gunned it, and got left the scene. The bus was carrying 10 to 15 passengers at the time of the shooting. Well here it is ya'll the movie u've been waiting for. Septa Debacle. In this vid you see some train action at Thorndale Station. Then we go in to the lead car #708 for the ride into philly, however early on you can clearly see/hear something ain't right with this train. We in the secton from downingtown to Whitford is a maxium speed of 70-79 mph...we never topped 50 do to a problem with car 715. This car was behind us and was the main issue along with other problems that would occur near 30th stree. You'll see the crews trying to fix our train out on the road,n the yard and hear all the radio chatter in Septa Debacle.

As the the end of January 2012 began to appear over the horizon, some winter weather finally started to grasp the area as reality kicked in, albeit for a very short time period.... On January 21, 2012, A mix of snow and ice had hit the area, rendering me unable to hit up CP Woodbourne/West Lang/Lang for the usual Saturday affair. Well, to make up for it, I headed out to Woodbourne on the day after, the 22nd... January 22, 2012: 9:36 AM -- Having just pulled up to the crossing with no time to spare, Q300-22 rumbles eastbound with CSX AC44CW 161 and CSX SD60M 8772 powering it. Q300 -- Philadelphia, PA -- Oak Island, NJ Manifest 10:24 AM -- The second and final train from the 22nd ended up being Q418-22, which is seen gliding east through the snow with no Woodbourne work, with CSX CW44AH 5120 and CSX CW44AH 595 as the power for this bite sized train. In 2010, SEPTA put its 260th hybrid bus in service, passing the halfway point in reaching the ambitious goal of having 440 hybrid buses among its total fleet of 1400 by the end of 2011. Forty of those hybrids were purchased with $17.8 million in federal grants under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. Hybrid buses are cleaner-burning and up to 29 percent more fuel-efficient than standard diesel buses. The Broad Street Line uses cars built by Kawasaki between 1981 and 1983.
