Fraunhofer Hello.Wall - Beyond Ambient Displays
A short video demonstrating the ubiquitous computing device "Hello.Wall" - an ambient information display created by the Fraunhofer Institute. In my time as a student researcher at Fraunhofer I have been doing some of the concept work for this display. Since the video has now been released under the following creative commons license creativecommons.org I thought I might share it with you guys. Video creator: Fraunhofer Integrated Publication and Information Systems Institute (IPSI) Contributing Organization: Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) The video has not been submitted for revenue sharing!

Fraunhofer Institute - Does Work
Why Not. It does work. It does function. There must be a way. Does work - two little words with a powerful message. They stand for independent thinking, persistence, determination, single mindedness, tenacity and the spirit of research. They stand for Fraunhofer. Say ""Does Work"" Keep pushing the limits. Always trying something new. Think out of the box. This is the principle of Fraunhofer. Because we won't rest satisfied with a simple Yes or No. Because where others give up, we come up with ideas. Because we want to make sure that at the end of every project, it can be said: Does Work.

ECO12 Berlin: Karl Leo University of Dresden Fraunhofer Organic Electronics
Prof. Karl Leo is Germany's poster child when it comes to co-founding new smart green startups out of university. In his case, it's the University of Dresden where he leads the Institute for Applied Photophysics. He simultaneously works with Fraunhofer IPMS to create even more value. Karl Leo is famous for co-founding Novaled which is heading for NASDAQ as well as Heliatek. His new startup that currently looks for smart green VCs invents OLED Microdisplays which are super energy efficient as you put them directly in front of the eye. Karl Leo is a role model for Europe's university professors and we are happy that he joined Ecosummit 2012. Now you can enjoy him on Ecosummit TV.

Prof. Dr. Eicke Weber of Fraunhofer ISE talks to Sharp at Intersolar 2011
As kick-off to this years Intersolar, Barbara Rudek of Sharp meets Prof. Dr. Eicke Weber in Munich. What potential do the different solar module technologies have and which market will replace Germany as the leader in solar energy? The "world's best solar researcher" -- how the German manager magazin entitles him-- and director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems gives us insight.

Fraunhofer inHaus Center
Taking good ideas and making a success of them together -- that's how we understand innovation. Through the Fraunhofer inHaus Center, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft combines the potential of at present seven Fraunhofer Institutes and around 100 partners from industry. We work together to develop, test and demonstrate new solutions for rooms and buildings, and bring them to market. Examples of inHaus activities range from improving energy efficiency through the use of new materials and automated building services to optimizing the design of office space and hotel rooms, and increasing security and assistance for people in care. Our connection to the marketplace comes in the form of the jointly planned and operated application labs in our two pilot buildings, inHaus1 (for the residential sector) and inHaus2 (for the commercial sector). In addition, we offer consulting services, events, and training & development seminars. InfoComm 2010 - Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute & Alioscopy
Alioscopy Pavilion at InfoComm 2010 - Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute demonstrates FIRST 2-view stereoscopic 3D conversion to N-view (or Multi-view) format for play-back on 'no-glasses' 3D displays, like the Alioscopy no-glasses 3D display. Saves time and re-rendering steps. Perfect for converting Film Trailers for 3D stereoscopic movies into no-glasses 3D for the theatre lobby or at a point-of-sale kiosk. German engineering triumphs again! Ralf Tanger in interview Ratings & comments are highly appreciated

3d Live HDTV mini-studio by Fraunhofer Institute at CeBIT 2010
As gimmicky as 3D may be, this live implementation is really cool. The "only" things needed are a 3D (dual) camera, the ultra low voltage GPU board, some wiring and a 3DTV.
