Ricky Nelson - Travelin' Man 1961 Lyrics: I'm a travelin' man and I've made a lotta stops all over the world And in every port I own the heart of at least one lovely girl I've a pretty senorita waitin' for me down in old Mexico And if you're ever in Alaska stop and see my cute little Eskimo Oh my sweet fräulien down in Berlin town makes my heart start to yearn And my China doll down in old Hong Kong waits for my return Pretty Polynesian baby over the sea I remember the night When we walked in the sands of Waikiki and I held you oh so tight Oh, I'm a travelin' man Yes, I'm a travelin' man Yes, I'm a travelin' man Woe, I'm a travelin' man

The First Television Remote Control! (1961)
The Remote Control used to be more complicated than setting the clock on your microwave. It's no wonder that the word "couch potato" is a recent term and not an old adage. People before the 1950s actually watched TV without a remote, as I'm sure all of your elders have told you about already. That means no channel surfing, no immobility for hours, no perfect modern-day relaxation/fattening and, most importantly, no DVRs. Instead, they had to sit up close to the TV to manually push buttons to change the channels or lower the volume. That, or walk back and forth from their seat. It's a real toss up on which one's worse. So, you can imagine the great fanfare that came with the invention of the remote control. In all its black and white glory, the video on the right exhibits the grandeur of the 500 pound-looking remote control meant to make life so much easier. See the brick for yourself at 0:49, complete with awesome narration. The amount of programming and complication that went with these early TVs is amazing. It's great when technology actually scales back and makes things simpler to move forward. When I get home, I'm going to hug my remote. Producer: Handy (Jam) Organization Sponsor: RCA Victor

AT&T; Archives: Seeing the Digital Future (1961)
For more from the AT&T; Archives, visit techchannel.att.com In 1961, the digital future was just starting to come to fruition. And the Bell System had a number of products that had either just come onto the market, or were incipient, that implemented these new computer technologies. In December 1960, AT&T; had just announced an investment of $2.5 billion for satellite communications and improving the network for data services and computer communication. In 1958, AT&T; had just announced its first modem. Springing from technologies used for the computerized navigation of missiles, the modem, ie the Data-Phone, was rolled out in a few markets in the midwest. It would be made commercially available throughout the network by 1960. The Data-Phone could transmit at up to a bit-rate of 110 bits per second. This film breaks into approximately two parts — part I: the problems of the present, and part II: the way those problems could be solved by the technology of the future. This film not only serves as almost the birth of the information age, it also projects that technology far into the future. The commercial products that would allow this connected, computer-communicating network? They're basic, but at the time seemed radical: * The wireless Bellboy Pager, which was introduced commercially in 1962 * The Data-phone, which was supposed to revolutionize business communications * The videophone—shown as a credit-card-reading vertical two-way television * The card-reading phone or ...

The Choppers (1961)
The Isotope Guerrilla Cult Theatre Proudly Presents: THE CHOPPERS If you cool cats like classic hotrod cars, bad boys from the other side of the tracks, sexy blondes in tight shirts, insipidly catchy songs, goofy teen idol good looks, and the world's biggest cell phone... this one is for you! Hot rods, hot rock, and hot hair are the jewels in the juvenile delinquency crown of THE CHOPPERS. This classic drive-in exploitation flick features the debut of sixteen year-old Arch Hall Jr. as Cruiser, the spoiled rich kid with a taste for crime and his band of troubled teens who call themselves cool names like Torch, Flip and Snoop, and specialize in stripping cars in record time. This is the movie that made you mom weak in the knees and your daddy worried about the crowd you run with. Featuring the some exceptional less-than-hit songs from the awesome Arch Hall Jr, including non-classics like "Konga Joe" and "Monkey In A Hatband". Live Fast Die Young! -- The Isotope Guerrilla Cult Theatre features pubic domain trashy flicks from Hollywood's yesteryear for your viewing enjoyment. These films are undisputedly in the public domain in the USA, and in all known cases no underlying music or literary rights have been claimed. If any rights are disputed we will be happy to remove the film from our virtual cinema. If you like these movies look up the actors, directors, and musicans on-line and send them gift baskets, cool swag, and/or money. The Isotope doesn't want anything from you ...

The Best View in the Solar System.
Exactly 51 years ago today, on April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first human to orbit earth. Today, man-kind has the International Space Station, which has continually been inhabited by humans since the November 2, 2000.
These lucky explorers and scientists clearly have the best view in the solar system.
Time-lapse sequences looking back at our multi-colored planet from low earth orbit, as viewed from the International Space Station. Images edited using Adobe Lightroom with some cropping and image manipulation.
The video plays best if you let it load a bit first.
Music: "Until Then" by London PM.

A very big thanks to NASA astronaut Don Pettit (@astro_Pettit) for taking most of these images.
This time-lapse is dedicated to the next big step in human exploration, and to those who are brave enough to take it.

Mani Nasry an exceptionally talented filmmaker, actor and artist with a sophisticated breadth of education, skills, experience, and professional accomplishments. He trained as an actor and director in New York with Salem Ludwig and with Donna DeMatteo for playwriting. For Mani, the decision to work in the film industry guided his academic decisions from an early age. He attended a Toronto high school renowned for excellence in the arts, and was accepted into one of the highly competitive film program at Ryerson university. It is notable that he went to Ryerson with an already well-established career in theatre, film, television and commercial work, and a range of multi-faceted achievements including producing, cinematography, casting, writing, directing, acting, and editing. On his own he added stints in New York and Los Angeles with leading acting teachers, as well as learning the grace and style of many forms of dance and athletics. With courses perceptively, he has also recognized the importance of acquiring an understanding of the business side of the industry, and the varied aspects of technology and production. There are some people clearly born to follow the path they have chosen from the start. Mani Nasry has the passion to succeed, the curiosity and ingenuity required to lead and collaborate in an industry known for its impact and appeal, and the strength of character and work ethic to immerse himself in finding and telling an unforgettable story.

DJ Cheeba - Revenge of The Nerd
In 2010, DJ Cheeba's first audio visual mix 'The Reels of Solid Steel' set a new level of progression for DJs. Now in 2011 he returns with the next episode... 'Revenge Of The Nerd'. A quick fire, attention frying, mash of sure fire club hits, stone cold classics, countless acapellas and turntable tricknology, all set to a visual feast of music videos, pop culture cameos, kung fu interludes and cinematic delights. Mixed with incredible flair and imagination, this is another bench mark in contemporary DJ culture. As Cheeba puts it... "It's cut and paste sound and pictures for people with open minds and short attention spans."
