Argentina
Argentina ⁱ/ˌɑrdʒənˈtiːnə/, officially the Argentine Republic (Spanish: República Argentina [reˈpuβlika aɾxenˈtina]), is a country in South America, the continent's second largest by land area, after Brazil. It is constituted as a federation of 23 provinces and an autonomous city, Buenos Aires. It is the eighth-largest country in the world by land area and the largest among Spanish-speaking nations.
Argentina's continental area is between the Andes mountain range in the west and the Atlantic Ocean in the east. It borders Paraguay and Bolivia to the north, Brazil and Uruguay to the northeast, and Chile to the west and south. Argentine claims over Antarctica, as well as overlapping claims made by Chile and the United Kingdom, are suspended by the Antarctic Treaty of 1961. Analysts have argued that the country has a "foundation for future growth due to its market size, levels of foreign direct investment, and percentage of high-tech exports as share of total manufactured goods", and it is classed by investors as middle emerging economy. Argentina is a founding member of the United Nations, Mercosur, the Union of South American Nations, the Organization of Ibero-American States, the World Bank Group and the World Trade Organization, and is one of the G-15 and G-20 major economies.

Then from 218 BC it was ruled by the Roman Republic and later the Roman Empire as Malaca (Latin). After the fall of the empire it was under Islamic Arab domination as Mālaqah (مالقة) for 800 years, but in 1487 it came under the dominion of the Spaniards in the Reconquista. The archaeological remains and monuments from the Phoenician, Roman, Arabic and Christian eras make the historic center of the city an "open museum", displaying its rich history of more than 3,000 years.

Alborán, born in Málaga on May 31, 1989, is the son of Spanish architect Salvador Moreno de Alborán Peralta and French Elena Ferrándiz Martínez. He is also the great-grandson of Francisco Moreno Fernández, 1st Marquess of Alborán, and has two siblings: Casilda and Salvador.
From a very young age, he was interested in learning to play various musical instruments such as piano, classical guitar, flamenco guitar, and acoustic guitar, and attended singing lessons with professional artists in Málaga and Madrid.
In 2002, at the age of 12, he composed his first songs, "Amor de Barrio" (Neighbourhood Love) and "Desencuentro" (Disagreement) which would be featured 10 years later on his debut album. In Málaga he performed for the first time with a Flamenco band in a restaurant, and he was nicknamed El Blanco Moreno (The White Moreno), because he "was very pale-skinned and Moreno was my family name", as he stated in an interview in early 2011. Later, Pablo met producer Manuel Illán and recorded a demo, which included a cover of "Deja de Volverme Loca" (Stop Driving Me Crazy) by Diana Navarro. Upon hearing this recording, Navarro expressed great interest in Alborán and became his musical mentor.

Alborán, born in Málaga on May 31, 1989, is the son of Spanish architect Salvador Moreno de Alborán Peralta and French Elena Ferrándiz Martínez. He is also the great-grandson of Francisco Moreno Fernández, 1st Marquess of Alborán, and has two siblings: Casilda and Salvador.

From a very young age, he was interested in learning to play various musical instruments such as piano, classical guitar, flamenco guitar, and acoustic guitar, and attended singing lessons with professional artists in Málaga and Madrid.

In 2002, at the age of 12, he composed his first songs, "Amor de Barrio" (Neighbourhood Love) and "Desencuentro" (Disagreement) which would be featured 10 years later on his debut album. In Málaga he performed for the first time with a Flamenco band in a restaurant, and he was nicknamed El Blanco Moreno (The White Moreno), because he "was very pale-skinned and Moreno was my family name", as he stated in an interview in early 2011.^[2] Later, Pablo met producer Manuel Illán and recorded a demo, which included a cover of "Deja de Volverme Loca" (Stop Driving Me Crazy) by Diana Navarro. Upon hearing this recording, Navarro expressed great interest in Alborán and became his musical mentor.^[3]

In preparation for his first album, Alborán composed a total of 40 songs from which the playlist would be selected. During the recording of this studio album, Pablo Alborán, he uploaded a few songs on YouTube, which gained the attention of many, including singer Kelly Rowland who was amazed by his voice, as far as saying "I'm in love with Pablo Alboran!".^[4] His videos have since received millions of views.

"Solamente Tú" (Only You) was digitally released in Spain in October 2010 as the first single of his debut album, which was released in February 2011. Both the single and the album were a huge success, managing to top the Spanish music charts for several consecutive weeks.^[5]^[6] The album won multiple awards, including 2011 RTVE's Album of the Year, ^[7] and became Spain's best-selling album in 2011.^[8]

Alborán began his first world tour on May 27, 2011 in Madrid at the Palacio Vistalegre, and has since performed in many Latin American countries, among which are Argentina, Chile and Mexico.^[9] Following his success, he released his first live album, En Acústico, in November of the same year. It included acoustic versions of most of the tracks in his debut album, as well as two new songs and four bonus tracks. The song "Perdóname" (Forgive Me) was re-recorded featuring Portuguese singer Carminho, and was released as the first single of the album,^[10] peaking at number one on the Spanish singles chart on November 13, 2011,^[11] thus helping En Acústico to debut also at number one on the albums chart one week later, on November 20, 2011,^[12] and to top the Portuguese Albums Chart in January 2012.

In December 19, 2011, Alborán received the 2011 Best New Act award in Los Premios 40 Principales. Both his albums Pablo Alborán and En Acústico were featured in Spain's official list of top-selling albums of 2011, in numbers 1 and 6 respectively,^[13] and singles "Solamente Tú" and "Perdóname" were the third and nineteenth best-selling songs in Spain in 2011.^[14]

Childhood and early beginnings [link]

Ferro's interest in music was born when he received a toy keyboard as a present, which was used to compose his first songs when he was seven.^[1] He later started taking guitar and piano classes at a local conservatory of music. When he was 16 years-old, he joined a gospel choir^[2] and during the same years, he started performing in piano bars and karaoke contests.^[3]

In 1997, Ferro participated in the "Accademia della Canzone di Sanremo", a music contest created with the purpose to choose the contestants of the Sanremo Music Festival, but was eliminated during the first stage of the competition. The following year, Ferro participated again in the same contest, and despite being chosen as one of the 12 finalists, he did not make it to win the competition.^[1] However, during the selections, Ferro met music producers Alberto Salerno and Mara Maionchi, and started to collaborate with them.^[1]^[3]

In 1999 Ferro also toured throughout Italy as a back vocalist with the Italian hip hop band Sottotono.^[4]^[5]

Career breakthrough [link]

In 2001, Ferro signed a contract with EMI Music Italy. On 22 June 2001, he released his first single, "Xdono".^[6]^[7] During the first months, the song received a poor reception, but it later became a hit and, after topping the Italian Singles Chart in September 2001,^[8] it was certified double platinum by the Federation of the Italian Music Industry for sales exceeding 100,000 copies.^[9]

The song was included in Ferro's debut album, Rosso relativo, released on 26 October 2001.^[10]^[11] Following the commercial success obtained in Italy, in 2002 the album was released in several European countries. A Spanish-language version of the record, titled Rojo relativo, was also released in Spain and Latin America.^[12] Rosso relativo obtained success in different markets and has sold more than 1,000,000 copies worldwide, according to EMI Music,^[13] allowing Ferro to receive a nomination for Best New Artist at the Latin Grammy Awards of 2003.^[14]

In November 2003, Ferro released his second studio album, 111, recorded both in Italian and Spanish, produced by Alberto Salerno, Mara Maionchi and Michele Canova.^[15] The album was preceded by the release of "Perverso",^[16] and also spawned the singles "Sere nere" / "Tardes negras",^[17] "Non me lo so spiegare" / "No me lo puedo explicar"^[18] and "Ti voglio bene" / "Desde mañana no lo se".^[19] 111 has sold more than 1,000,000 copies worldwide,^[20] topping the Mexican Albums Chart^[21] and being certified four times platinum in Italy^[3] for domestic sales exceeding 450,000 copies.^[18] Following the success of the album Ferro won Best Italian Artist at the 2004 MTV Europe Music Awards in Rome.^[22]

In July 2004, Ferro also released in Europe his first English-language single, "Universal Prayer", a duet with British R&B singer Jamelia recorded to promote the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.^[23]

Ferro's third studio album, Nessuno è solo / Nadie está solo, was released in June 2006,^[24] following the lead single "Stop! Dimentica", which became a number-one hit in Italy and Austria.^[25] The album, described by music critics as more intimate and melancholic,^[26] obtained in Italy a success even bigger than his previous ones, reaching the Diamond certification for its domestic sales.^[27]^[28] The third single from the album, "Ti scatterò una foto", was also included in the soundtrack of the movie Ho voglia di te, directed by Luis Prieto and based on the book with the same title by Federico Moccia.^[29]

Nessuno è solo also features a duet with Italian pop singer-songwriter Biagio Antonacci,^[30] while the Spanish-language version of the album includes "Mi credo", a song recorded with Pepe Aguilar.^[31]

In June 2008 Ferro co-wrote with Roberto Casalino the single "Non ti scordar mai di me" for X Factor's first edition's runner-up Giusy Ferreri.^[32] The song became a huge success in Italy, topping the Italian Singles Chart for 12 non-consecutive weeks.^[33] Ferro also produced Giusy Ferreri's debut album, Gaetana, containing 6 songs penned by him,^[34] including "L'amore e basta!", a duet between Ferro and Ferreri.^[35]

On 7 November 2008 Ferro released his fourth studio album, Alla mia età, preceded by the single with the same title.^[36] Alla mia età debuted at number one on the Italian Albums Chart^[37] and became the best-selling album of 2009 in Italy.^[38] The Spanish-language version of the album is title A mi edad.

In November 2009, Ferro released his first video album, Alla mia età - Live in Rome, recorded during his concerts at the Stadio Olimpico on 24 and 25 June 2009.^[39] A few months later, Ferro was chosen to record the Italian version of Mary J Blige's single "Each Tear", included in her album Stronger with Each Tear^[40] The song reached the spot in the Italian Singles Chart.^[41]

Franco De Vita (born January 23, 1954 in Caracas, Venezuela) is a singer-songwriter. His first disc as a solo artist garnered three Spanish-language hits in Venezuela. He signed with the Sony label in 1988, and in 1990, his album Extranjero had a song that reached No. 1 on the U.S. Latin charts and won an MTV Video Music Award. His 2004 album Stop reached the Top 10 throughout Latin America and on the U.S. Latin charts.

One of four children born in Venezuela to Italian immigrants, De Vita’s family returned to Italy when he was 3. The family moved back to Venezuela when De Vita was 13. Due to his upbringing in Italy, De Vita learned Italian as his first language and did not learn Spanish until he returned to Venezuela at age 13. He later studied piano at the university level. In 1982, De Vita formed the group Icaro, which released one self-titled album in his homeland. Two years later, he released his first disc as a solo artist, simply titled Franco De Vita. The album spun off three Spanish-language hits: "Somos Tres", "No Hay Cielo", and "Un Buen Perdedor". His 1986 album Fantasía produced several more hits, including the title song and "Aquí Estás Otra Vez". "Sólo Importas Tú", taken from the album, was used as the theme song to the Spanish-language soap opera La Dama De Rosa. He appeared in the end credits of every episode, performing the song at the piano.

Seeking wider international exposure, De Vita moved to the Sony label for the 1988 album Al Norte Del Sur.^[1] The album showed his socially-conscious, adult-oriented pop, particularly through the tunes "Te Amo" and "Louis". The latter song, about a daydreaming cabbie who idolizes The Beatles, was promoted with a music video considered quite advanced for its time. De Vita's 1990 album Extranjero featured the song "No Basta", which spent four weeks at No. 1 on the U.S. Latin charts and won an MTV Video Music Award.

Most albums have included the live release En Vivo Marzo 16 (1992); Voces a mi Alrededor in 1993; the acoustic-flavored Fuera de Este Mundo (1996); and 1999's world-beat inspired Nada Es Igual. He left Sony for the 2002 album Segundas partes también son buenas, but returned to the label the following year.

His 2004 album Stop reached the Top 10 throughout Latin America and on the U.S. Latin charts, spurred by the hits “Tú De Qué Vas” and “Si La Ves,” the latter a collaboration with pop group Sin Bandera. That same year, he toured arenas in the United States on a co-headlining tour with Ricardo Montaner, a fellow Venezuelan songwriter. He also has recorded in Italian and Portuguese. As a songwriter, he has written songs for Ricky Martin and Chayanne.

In 2005, an expanded edition of Stop was released, titled Stop + Algo Más, that included remixes and live recordings, as well as No Sé Lo Que Me Das, De Vita's first recording in English. The following year saw the release of Mil y Una Historias En Vivo, a two-disc live album that also featured four studio tracks, including collaborations with Alejandro Fernández and Diego El Cigala. A DVD version was released simultaneously.

In 2007, De Vita collaborated on a single with reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel called "Oye Donde Esta El Amor", which borrowed the chorus from his composition "Donde Esta El Amor." They released an updated version of "Un Buen Perdedor" that peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. In 2008, he re-recorded "Que No Muera La Esperanza" (originally featured on Voces A Mi Alrededor) with Wisin & Yandel, as well as releasing a new studio album, Simplemente La Verdad.

Philippe Lavil, pseudonym of Philippe Durand de La Villejégu du Fresnay (born on 26 September 1947 in Fort-de-France, Martinique) is a French singer. He remained particularly famous for his hits singles "Il tape sur des bambous", "Elle préfère l'amour en mer" (number 8 in France)^[1] and "Kolé séré", a duet with Jocelyne Béroard (number 4 in France).^[2] He was also member of Les Enfoirés in 1996, 1997 and 1998.
