Bivouac Camp And Survival Skill Priorities - Fire Wood and Making Shelter
nomoreop4.blogspot.com Check out and follow my blog for more in depth information on this review, and on other guns, gear, shooting, hunting and the outdoors! \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\///////////////////////////////////////////////// In this video I detail how I prioritize tasks based on situation when setting up a camp. This could be applied to a survival situation, or anytime you find yourself outdoors for an extended period of time. There are many important factors to consider when analyzing your situation. Some main ones are Water, Food, Shelter and Fire. In this video we will be focusing on Shelter and Fire. In videos to come, I will go into more depth on these, as well as Water and Food.

Primitive Fish Trap - Survival Skills
Thanks for the views comments and support. Please like, share, comment and subscribe. Thanks! This video is about making a fully functional primitive survival fish and minnow trap using a digging stick and the shore of a lake. I mentioned this fish trap in a video I did on a major flood that a beaver dam was making, the video is here: www.youtube.com I figured it would be a good idea to actually show the trap being made, how to set it, and hopefully let you see some minnows swimming into the trap. Generally speaking, this trap can be made, set, and triggered in a hurry and shouldn't require a great expenditure of calories or resources to create. In a survival situation those are all things worth considering. If you want to catch bigger fish, make the trap bigger. If you place some cover over the trap it will provide shade and draw in crawfish and other critters as well, like frogs for example. An old board, some spruce bows, cattails, reeds, grass, rocks will all serve as good cover. This is not required for simply catching minnows and such though. Steps to make the trap: Dig a hole in a couple feet from shore Dig a channel out into the water from the hole Push some dirt or rocks up near the entrance to serve as a trigger to close the trap off once the fish or crawdads are inside. That's all there is to it! This trap actually works quite well, the minnows can be left in the trap to be gathered at leisure. they will remain alive indefinitely. Survival Skills: Firemaking, Southeast US by Nutnfancy
PART 2 OF 2: A detailed fire making exercise in the Southeastern United States by Nutnfancy. Quite a different climate and foliage than the usual Nutnfancy Knife Clinic in the Rocky Mountains, this southern location provided an equally excellent location for wilderness craft. Tools used included the excellent, high value KaBar Heavy Bowie and Cold Steel Roach Belly knives, a Sawvivor backpacking saw, WD40, and a Light My Fire flint and steel. All came along and were used for demonstration purposes but not necessarily by necessity. The intent is to show viable backpacking fire tools that will get the job doneweight and compactness for carry purposes being important considerations. The secret time-saving weapon in this particular time-crunched clinic was one stick of fatwood, discussed in the video. Safety considerations, chopping, cutting, knife philosophy, and fire building techniques are necessarily discussed as the work progresses in this two-part series. If the response is good, I may do more wilderness skills videos but they might be few since they take a lot of work and are time-consuming.

How To Build a Self-Feeding Fire - Wilderness Survival Skills
In this video and article I demonstrate a technique for building a fire structure that will burn continuously and does not require ANY managing. This is a great method to know if you need the heat from a fire while you are sleeping, but do not want to wake up repeatedly during the night to add more wood.

In contemplating virtually any hypothetical survival situation, the mind immediately turns to thoughts of food. Unless the situation occurs in an arid environment, even water, which is more important to maintaining body functions, will almost always follow food in our initial thoughts. The survivor must remember that the three essentials of survival--water, food, and shelter--are prioritized according to the estimate of the actual situation. This estimate must not only be timely but accurate as well. Some situations may well dictate that shelter precede both food and water. Main Show Only - Survival Skills - Coast to Coast AM
Founder of the Aboriginal Living Skills School, Cody Lundin shared survival tips from backwoods self-reliance to urban disaster mitigation. Less than 7% of the US population is prepared to deal with a disaster, he reported. The biggest cause of death in such situations is from hypothermia (cold) or hyperthermia (heat), so regulation of body temperature is key, he said. Having alternative heating/cooling sources is useful, he noted, adding that individual homes typically have "microhabitats" where one room will retain heat or be cooler. During the Katrina disaster, many victims did not know simple ways to disinfect water. One method he described involves putting water in a plastic liter container (the kind that soda is sold in) and simply leaving in the sun for six hours. The sun's UV radiation kills off germs. Lundin also discussed how to deal with a corpse during a disaster, noting that dead bodies don't spread disease, unless they died of one. To keep up morale among the living, it's important to have some type of closure ritual for the deceased, even if they are just being temporarily buried or wrapped in plastic. Learn about urban survival skills: www.40daysofsurvival.com In this video (www.youtube.com urban survival skills can't be taken for granted, because a city without power, shelter, or civil order becomes exactly as dangerous as the untamed wilderness. Food, clean water, and other disaster recovery supplies won't be waiting at the local supermarket. There won't be gas available to fill a car and evacuate. There won't be any of the common comforts we have become accustomed to. For more on urban survival skills visit: www.absoluterights.com
