Yantai: Opportunities for UK Businesses
Yantai, in Shandong Province, is some 400 kilometres south east of Beijing. It has a population of around 7 million. Shandong is China's biggest agricultural province in terms of output and growth. Foreign investment is encouraged, and there are many opportunities here for UK companies involved in a wide variety of agriculture-related industries. Yantai is well placed to benefit from the ambitious plans for Shandong province's economic expansion, and its coastal location, low pollution and pleasant climate make it a good location in which to live and work. This video is one of a 20 part series on China's regional cities. Each video shows the size and scale of the city, its overall attractiveness as a place to live and work, and introduces potential business opportunities. UK business interest in China has been focused on a few large established cities on or near the coast. However, these markets are maturing, competition is intensifying and costs are increasing. As a consequence companies are considering alternative locations for business expansion and development. Regional cities are fast becoming the target for local and foreign investment. The rapid rate of urbanisation, expansion and economic growth of these cities offers considerable opportunities across a wide range of industrial sectors and business activities. For more information on doing business in China, see our seven part 'Breaking the Barriers ' series, which introduces some of the business challenges faced ...

Chinese City : A Bird's Eye View Of Yantai 山东烟台
Yantai is a prefecture-level city in northeastern Shandong province, People's Republic of China. The contemporary name of Yantai came from the watchtowers constructed on Mount Qi in 1398, during the reign of the Hongwu Emperor, founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty (yan—smoke; tai—tower). The towers served to raise alarms against invasions of Japanese pirates.

Chinese New Year in downtown Yantai, China 2012
Here is a brief look into my Chinese New Year here in Yantai. It starts off with fireworks displays all over town with the snow falling slowly to the ground. Then a funny scene of a firework mishap. Afterwards, it concludes inside my in-laws apartment and some people honoring their deceased loved ones by burning paper money and offerings to them.

Apples from Yantai China's Latest Toxic Food Scandal
For more news and videos visit ➡ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ➡ http Add us on Facebook ➡ on.fb.me It's the latest toxic food scandal in China—poison apples. Orchards in Yantai city in eastern Shandong province are allegedly using pesticide bags to protect growing apples. This practice is illegal and authorities say they are now investigating. Chinese media reported apple growers are using bags coated with pesticide, and wrapping them around young, growing apples. This is meant to protect the surface of the apples and keep out diseases that could hurt the crop yield. State-controlled Beijing News reported that the pesticide includes banned chemicals including Tuzet and arsenical fungicide. Yantai is one of China's main apple producers. More than 1.3 billion pounds of apples from here are sold domestically and exported worldwide. This is not the first time pesticide bags have been found. State-run media report authorities had discovered them previously in 2010.

Yantai Raffles Shipyard
Faced with the dramatic rise in demand in the offshore and marine industry, YRS realized that it needed to quickly move away from paper-based systems and 2D tools and migrate to a 3D-based model system to stay ahead of the competition. YR S chose Dassault Systèmes Product Lifecycle Management solutions (DS PLM) including: CATIA for offshore structural design; SIMULIA for stress analysis on parts and assembly; ENOVIA VPLM for collaborative product lifecycle management and decision-making; and DELMIA for vessel production and simulation.
