A little outside the city is an attraction that is a meeting place for one and all, The Blue Lagoon, the largest bath tub in the world! The mineral water it contains has a temperature of forty degrees centigrade and the milky-blue pool has been proven to possess beneficial healing qualities. Southeast of The Blue Lagoon is Hveragerdi that is set within an idyllic valley. Due to its protected location and numerous thermal springs, in 1929 a garden city originated there and within its many greenhouses grow vegetables, fruit and exotic flowers. Amid the historic Pingvellir Plains, once the location of ancient gatherings and where justice was administered, is the Öxararfoss Waterfall, the island’s oldest Man made device that was used to supply the region with drinking water. On the southern tip of Iceland is the small village of Skogar. The interior of the houses are comfortably furnished and the privately owned Homeland Museum gives a good insight into the daily life of bygone times. Large stones support the wooden sides of the houses, the roofs and remaining walls of which are protected by grass-covered earth. In this area is one of the island’s most gigantic and highest waterfalls, Skogafoss, that rages sixty metres into the depths below. The mist above the water cloaks the sight of this mighty natural wonder whose water thunders down across the cliffs of the ancient shoreline with awesome power. Iceland is a fascinating world of water, fire and ice and full of breathtaking beauty and overwhelming contrast. It is one of the last natural paradises on Earth.

Visit the Forum Romanum - the Ancient Ruins Site in Rome The legend of Romulus and Remus, the twins raised by wolves is the product of the excellent imagination of Titus Livius a writer of the Augustus era. Their statues can be found in many Italian Cities including the Capitolian Hill here in Rome. The capital or in Italian Campidoglio was the most highly respected hill of Rome. It was the center of religious life and antiquity. The remains of ancient times are not really visible anymore. Near the decorative steps is the Tarpeian Rock from which are those who committed treason are pushed off. The old temples and the capital's altar are gone; the pleasing look of the square can be attributed to Michelangelo who designed it upon the request of Pope Paul III. In his plan there were three palaces on three sides of the square. The Palazzo Dei Conservatori, the Palazzo Wolvo and the Palazzo Senetorio, they are lions sitting at the feet of the impressive stairway leading to the square with the equestrian's statues of Casotr and Pollux and the statues of the two Constantine's in the long Balustrades. The white pattern and the dark gray pavement direct your eye to the equestrians' statue of Marcus Aurelius in the center of the square. The sculpture itself is genuine antiquity, originally gilded which came off over the course of centuries. Michelangelo contributed only the pedestal and the pavement to the square. In ancient times, the capital opened up towards the Forum Romanum to welcome those visiting from there. Now it looks to the northwest as if reaching out towards the new Rome. Before we take a closer look at the vast reservoir of antique monuments known by the world as Forum Romanum, it is worth taking a view of it from an elevated position. At least from the upper deck of a site seeing tour bus, there are many illustrated maps available at bookstores and tourist information offices to help you navigate around town. Just Onte Monte Carlos model of ancient Rome is on display at the Museo della Civilta Romana. It is a very nice way to recognize the buildings that are still standing, eternal spirit, eternal force - You Rome. "After so much spilled of blood and forgetting, clanking noise, pale silence and so many failures. Flames spread by countless changing winds, still happily stepping over your own ruins and ashes. You will grow into a giant thus celebrating your greatest triumph defeating death. Still aglow with youth always and forever, fabulous sister of palaces city, guarded by swords and the flash of protecting weapons, flooding the world with a light of your torch. Giving a sparkle for all people to chase away their dark, oh you shadow chasing Rome. Your light keeps on shining, forever triumph thing over decaying time." So wrote Giovanni Pascoli in his poem Hymn to Eternal Rome. The various parts of the forums are connected by the Via Sacra the sacred road. The original cobbles of which are still visible, in the 21st Century the Forum Romanum is only a field of ruins where we try to evoke its past greatness with the help of reconstruction drawings and explanations by archeologists and museologists. Yes, that was the largest and most impressive public square in Rome, surrounded by basilicas, temples and monuments. And was the scene of public life in the city, a few hundred years B.C. there was an unhealthy and almost unnavigable marsh at this location. Thus the history of Rome did not begin here but up on the hills where farming and stock breeding Latins and Sabines were struggling to survive. Nha Trang is the perfect combination of a long sandy beach for relaxing days under the palm trees and a town with restaurants and bars to pass the balmy evenings. Boat trips take you out to nearby islands and divers can explore the nearby coral reefs. Alternatively, try Vung Tau, southeast of Ho Chi Minh City for some superb snorkelling around the many offshore islands or head east of Phan Thiet to the sand dunes of Mui Ne, which stretch for miles. Whatever your budget there'll be a resort to suit you. Relax on the white-sand beaches or have a go at many of the water sports on offer. Cao Dai Temple ------------------------- Head out to Tay Ninh to view the colourful midday service of the intriguing Cao Dai sect held in a large temple almost Disney-esque in style. The followers wear red, blue and yellow robes and chant to the accompaniment of a traditional orchestra. En route, scramble through the tunnels at Cu Chi, from where the Viet Cong successfully launched attacks against US forces. Central Highlands -------------------------- Dalat is as far as most people go into the Central Highlands but head further into the mountains for stunning views and waterfalls. You are assured of a warm welcome in Buon Ma Thuot, a coffee growing region and home to the Montagnards. The Ho Chi Minh trail is easily reached from Kontum. Cooking lessons Learn the subtleties of Vietnamese cookery at a class in ancient Hoi An. Submerge into the hustle and bustle of the market to buy provisions before retreating to the calm of the kitchen. The best part of the day -- you get to eat what you have helped prepare! Dalat ----------- To escape the heat of the plains, head for Dalat, a former colonial hill station, reminiscent of a French town, with faded, elegant villas evocative of another era. Colonists from Saigon headed to its cool climes as well as the emperor and his entourage. The romantic lakes and alpine scenery are magnets for Vietnamese honeymooners. Halong Bay --------------- Sure it is touristy, and if you take a boat trip you'll be among a flotilla of dozens of old converted junks, but Halong Bay still remains one of the most impressive sights in the world. Take the opportunity to borrow a kayak (all boats should do this) and paddle through the limestone karsts dramatically rising up out of the sea. Or spend the night on one of those junks and explore the caves hidden deep in the islands, pass floating villages and at night enjoy a sundowner on the top deck and look out for shooting stars. Hanoi --------- Hanoi is a city of contrasts with the wide, leafy boulevards lined by beautiful colonial buildings in the French quarter, the maze of narrow streets of the Old Quarter and the tranquil lakes. Wherever you are, the background noise is the buzzing of the motorbikes that crowd the streets of the capital. Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City by train -------------------------------------------- A trip on the Reunification Express is a must. However, the trains between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are certainly not express. It can take between 30 and 40 hours to travel between the two cities so best to do one section only. Popular is the 18-hour journey between Hanoi and Hue.

Ras Al Khaimah with a population of 150000 lies about 100 km from Dubai. There's no bus or train transport but pool taxis are cheap. The Hajar Mountains are also a part of Ras Al Khaimah. Thanks to the water pouring down a mountain, this is the greenest and most varied region at the same time where desert, seashore, mountains and watered areas form a unit. The income of the Emirate is derived from agriculture, pearl diving, fishing and extraction of stone. Ras Al Khaima is the only Emirate that was not a founding member of the confederation. They joined year later. Development is also significant here but as obvious as in Dubai. Understandably, the beauties of nature dominate here and travel agencies also emphasize the possibility of optional activities. The capital lies on the shore of a narrow gulf and just like Dubai, is divided by a strait, Cor Ras Al Khaimah. Here too, the museum of local history was established in an old fortress. Its primary treasure is the original manuscript from Vasco da Gama about --, the ancient capital. Souks shouldn't be missed here either. Those who would like to buy a genuine pearl are in the right place. Local pearls are famous for their even round shaped and exceptionally white color. We can take a trip in the area to the extraordinarily beautiful Musandam Peninsula which belongs to Oman or we can sail out to watch dolphins living in the wild. The remains of the palace ascribe to the Queen of Sheba are located in Shemale some 5km from the city. There's no shortage of shopping centers in Ras Al Khaimah either where everything can be purchased at prices similar to those in Dubai. Tourists can try desert vehicles in an oasis. We can take off for a jeep safari with a driver but it's more memorable if we drive ourselves. This of course requires some experience. We can take sand runners, quads or the ship of the desert at performing any all wheel drive vehicle, particularly because it doesn't use gas, only water once a week. The dunes can be explored on stubby but steady Arabian horses. But the car rally is not the only car race in which cars have to work their way through the sand dunes. Several other driving desert races are also held in the Emirates. The nature of the plain determines its habitable features, shepherd folks sleeping in tents are frequently in need of hospitality. When there isn't any city or permanent settlement, the honor and credit of the tribe substitutes the land. Hospitality has been a sanctuary for everyone in need. The Bedouin shared his scant bit with his guests and those eating bread and salt with him became his protégé. Company for a migrant, traveler normally lasts three days because this is the exact time it takes for the consumed food to become blood. But if the enemy asks for asylum, the Arab couldn't deny that either and while he held on to the ties of his tent, his life was secure. A bloody battle could only affect him if he left this tent and took to the road again. The plains produce this peculiar morality. A Bedouin didn't acknowledge any higher powers and the chieftain could thank his honor to his personal excellence only. Every noble Arab was equally poor and held the same rank in the plains. Democratic attitude applicable to every Arab didn't allow the establishment of a state over the tribes. This made tribes independent from each other but at the same time prevented Arabs from uniting their forces to gain economical superiority, wrote Professor Germanus, one of the greatest orientalists. The past few centuries have proven what these tribes are able to do if they break with their habits and join in the interests of a common aim. Past and present live side by side in the traditional Arab countries. Social relations, religion, concepts but even clothing haven't changed very much during the past few centuries. However, architecture, transport, technology, and economic life have changed. I explain the ADI standards check in great detail for both driving instructors and learner drivers. Every single box on the marking sheet (SC1) of the new DVSA standards check is covered as I explain exactly what the examiner is looking for from you. This video will help learners who want to see if their instructor is teaching properly but it also an invaluable resource for anyone who has a standards check coming up or just wants to polish up on their instructional skills and techniques. Here are few points I would like to make about this video: - The Reg. No box on the sheet is for your car reg, not your ADI reg! - You can now request a standards check at any time you like. Seeing as you're paying for each one they won't mind! If you get a grade B and wanted an A then you can just retake it. Be careful though as you could then fail it and would kick yourself for shooting yourself in the foot. If you could kick yourself after shooting yourself in the foot. - The new manoeuvres I mentioned are designed so that they can be done in more places, opening up the test routes so that more driving can be done. As I recorded this video, test routes have to include quiet areas such as housing estates for reversing around a corner and doing a turn in the road. By taking these quiet areas off the test routes it will allow the examiner to see the pupil driving on a wider range of roads. This doesn't mean that the older manoeuvres won't still be taught, they just won't be assessed. - The examiners would prefer to not see briefings done on the standards check unless absolutely necessary. They want to see you out and about teaching, not sitting talking about a diagram - You can if needed travel to a garage at the start of your SC to check the tyre pressures due to the extra weight. You MUST make the pupil aware of the extra weight and explain how a passenger could effect the cars handling in front of the examiner.
