Hudson is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States.

Before its incorporation as a town in 1866, Hudson was a neighborhood and unincorporated village within the town of Marlborough, Massachusetts, and was known as Feltonville, and before that, known as Eastborough. From around 1850 until the last shoe factory burned down in 1968, Hudson was known as a "shoe town." At one point, the town had 17 shoe factories, many of them powered by the Assabet River, which runs through town. Because of the many factories in Hudson, immigrants were attracted to the town. Today, most people are of either Portuguese or Irish descent, with a smaller percentage of people being of French, Italian, English, or Scots-Irish descent. Hudson is served by the Hudson Public Schools district.

History

In 1650, the area that would become Hudson was part of the Indian Plantation for the Praying Indians. The Praying Indians were evicted from their plantation during King Philip's War, and most did not return even after the war ended.

Hudson (Sussex cricketer)

Hudson (first name and dates unknown) was an English professional cricketer who made 1 known appearance in first-class cricket. He played for Sussex (aka Brighton) against Middlesex at the Prince of Wales Ground, Brighton in 1792, scoring 0 in his only innings.

Tina! is a compilation album from American rock singer Tina Turner. The album was released September 30, 2008 by Capitol Records in North America and October 17, 2008 in Germany (the album was released as an "import" in other regions). The album was later expanded to a three-disc set, released in Europe to coincide with the European leg of her tour. The Platinum Collection was released on February 23, 2009.

Overview

Released just in time for her 2008 world tour, the 18 track disc features Turner's biggest hits along with live recordings. It also includes two new songs, "I'm Ready" and "It Would Be a Crime". The digital release of the album features alternative versions of two songs. The original 1966 version of "River Deep - Mountain High" is replaced with the 1973 re-recording and the "Acid Queen" original soundtrack version with the album version.

The album was later expanded to a three-disc set, released in Europe to coincide with the European leg of her tour. The Platinum Collection was released on February 23, 2009. The album features almost every single released by Turner as a solo artist, including duets, live versions and re-recordings, as well as selected songs from her days with her former husband, Ike Turner.

Sambal language

Sambal or Sambali is a Sambalic language spoken primarily in the Zambal municipalities of Santa Cruz, Candelaria, Masinloc, Palauig, and Iba, and in the Pangasinense municipality of Infanta in the Philippines; speakers can also be found in Panitian, Quezon, Palawan and Barangay Mandaragat or Buncag of Puerto Princesa.

Sambal is also termed Tina in some references. However, the term is considered offensive to the language's speakers. The pejorative term was first used in around the period 1976 to 1979 by researchers from the Summer Institute of Linguistics (now SIL International).

Name

The name Tina or Tina Sambal was used by Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) researchers 1976–1979. It is considered pejorative by many Sambals as it means 'bleach', a pun in Sambal Botolan. Sambals would not normally recognize the reference.
