Like the Daleks, the villainous Cybermen have existed in the Doctor Who universe for decades, and at some point later on in the current season, they'll be back. Details have emerged about the episode that author Neil Gaiman is set to pen, which is expected to air in 2013 after the show returns from hiatus. Among them is the return of the Cybermen, the emotionless cyborgs who have appeared numerous times in Doctor Who, as well as an episode of the DW spin-off Torchwood.
Neil Gaiman won a Hugo award for penning last season's "The Doctor's Wife," and this season, he's returning to Doctor Who to pen another episode. Deadline reports that Doctor Who's Steven Moffat confirmed this news along with sharing word that the Cybermen will return in the episode, which will air next spring. What's more, the episode will feature a number of guest stars, including Warwick Davis (Life's Too Short, Willow), Tamzin Outhwaite (EastEnders) and Jason Watkins of Being Human. Stephen Woolfenden will direct. Fans of the villainous cyborgs have that to look forward to. And fans of Doctor Who have the upcoming Christmas special to look forward to. With Amy and Rory parting ways with the doctor at the end of the first half of Series 7, the anticipated Christmas special will introduce the Doctor's new companion, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman. After that, the series is expected to resume with new episodes in 2013. U.S. viewers will find the beloved sci-fi series airing on BBC America. We'll be sure to update you on the series' 2013 return-date once it's announced! |
