Kate Middleton and Prince William return to place they met

Kate Middleton and Prince William headed down memory lane Thursday, as they returned together to St Andrews – the university where they met. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were both students at the Scottish university when they happened to take an art history class together in 2001, reports Daily Mail. The rest, quite literally, is history of a different kind. Many college students marry each other, but very few become kings and queens.

The occasion, of course, was a fund raiser gala – the 600th anniversary of the university, which was founded in 1413. Yes, those dates and figures are correct. Scotland and England have some very old institutions still in effect.

Duchess Catherine recycled the perfect dress by Alice Temperley – a cream full-length gown covered in black lace. She carried a tiny red bag, which popped with color.

Prince William talked about his “happy, happy memories” and he called Duchess Catherine his “art guru” – joking that “she was much better at it than me.”

They got to know each other a little better after a university fashion show, where a very young-looking Kate wore a totally see-through dress over black lingerie. The two started dating. “I hope you weren't involved in the fashion show, you never know what you are going to be asked to wear!” the duchess said to a current student. No problem. It certainly worked out well for Kate.

Kate Middleton and Prince William seemed to enjoy the evening. It’s always fun to go back to where you went to school, and especially to where you fell in love.
