Ramesh Raskar: Imaging at a trillion frames per second
www.ted.com Ramesh Raskar presents femto-photography, a new type of imaging so fast it visualizes the world one trillion frames per second, so detailed it shows light itself in motion. This technology may someday be used to build cameras that can look "around" corners or see inside the body without X-rays.TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the "Sixth Sense" wearable tech, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http If you have questions or comments about this or other TED videos, please go to support.ted.com

Cross sectional and imaging anatomy of the abdomen
Objectives: This video deals with the anatomy of abdominal viscera and walls as they appear in transverse anatomical sections and axial CT sections. The video begins with a transverse anatomical section at the level of T8 vertebra and continues down to the level of L5 vertebra. There is a special emphasis on sections at the level of T10, T12, L1, L3, & L4. The anatomical sections are arranged to match CT & MRI sections to provide better understanding of the imaging anatomy of the abdomen. The arrangement of abdominal structures is followed in (22) serial transverse sections of the abdomen and compared to 5 representative axial CT sections at different levels. The anatomical sections are selected from the Visible Human Project. For more information about this project refer to: www.nlm.nih.gov Five short video clips are inserted where necessary to explain 3-D relations necessary to understand the 2-D sections. Presented and edited by Dr. Akram Jaffar (PhD). Plastic model clips filmed by Parwiz Akbari (medical student). Filmed at College of Medicine/ University of Sharjah, UAE. 2012. This video and its channel are supported by "Human Anatomy Education" page on Facebook www.facebook.com After completion of this video session it is expected that you will be able to identify the approximate vertebral levels of transverse sections from T8-L5 vertebrae. The following structures are identified in transverse anatomical sections or CT axial sections: Vessels: Inferior vena cava (IVC ...

Homebuilt X-ray backscatter imaging system (airport body scanner)
I'll be presenting this work at EHSM: ehsm.eu I built an X-ray backscatter imaging system from parts found on eBay. This system works by scanning a very thin beam of X-rays across the target, and measuring the amount of backscatter for a given beam position. The beam is scanned mechanically by a rotating chopper (collimator) wheel, and by tilting the rotating wheel on an orthogonal axis. The output image is generated on an oscilloscope by matching the horizontal scan speed to the rotating wheel, and using a potentiometer to measure the vertical axis position. The scope's brightness (z axis) is controlled by the amount of backscatter signal received by a large-area detector. Thus, the image is constructed bit by bit. I used a long-exposure shutter on my camera to see the image formed by the moving oscilloscope trace. www.google.com

Neuron imaging at MIT
A team led by MIT neuroscientists has developed a way to monitor how brain cells coordinate with each other to control specific behaviors, such as initiating movement or detecting an odor. The researchers' new imaging technique, based on the detection of calcium ions in neurons, could help them map the brain circuits that perform such functions. It could also provide new insights into the origins of autism, obsessive-compulsive disorder and other psychiatric diseases says Guoping Feng, the James W. and Patricia Poitras Professor of Neuroscience and a member of the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at MIT. Lumin App Labs #4 - Create stunning imaging apps for Lumia phones
The Nokia Lumia 920 with Windows Phone 8 is setting the standard in smartphone-imaging technology. In this Lumia App Lab, you'll learn about creating stunning imaging apps that use the advancements in the Lumia 920 and the potential of the new Microsoft Windows Phone 8. You'll learn how to capture superb images and video, control ISO and other parameters, perform multiframe image capture, get direct access to sensor data, and apply special effects. The Windows Phone 8 native camera app includes a feature called 'lenses' that makes it easy for users to apply the effects produced by your apps. The presentation explains how you make your apps part of this seamless user experience. A downloadable copy of the slide from the session can be found here: www.slideshare.net

Side Imaging and Down Scan Structure Scan Sonar: How to set it up and how to read your graph
New side imaging and Down Scan Structure Scan Sonar from Lowrance and other newer sonar units are like underwater photographs. Here are few basic tips to help you interpret the images and to get the most from your sonar unit. This video shows how to read your sonar unit and find bass and other fish with it. Use your Lowrance sonar to find bass on deep structure. Side imaging sonar will also find fish out to the side of your boat. Down Scan and side image sonar not only finds fish fast, but side imaging also finds cover that holds bass and other fish, like weeds, brush piles, and stumps. Tom Redington is an FLW Tour pro, host of "Big Bass Battle" on NBC Sports and WFN, and a trophy bass guide on Lake Fork. Blooming Tree (Babs Seed Re-Imagined)
Turns out Babs Seed wasn't such a bad gal after all! I wrote this song to better portray the more innocent side of this misunderstood "bully". Had an experience where you first impression wasn't quite as it seemed? Comment below! It seems a song a month is the schedule I'm comfortable with. Oh well. I really liked the Babs Seed song, so I couldn't resist making a re-imagining right after I heard it! It's been a while since I've made a song in such a rush! But the results seem to say otherwise: I'm very pleased with how it came out. And now I'm trying to get this song out of my head... but it's not working!
