A pump is a device that moves fluids (liquids or gases), or sometimes slurries, by mechanical action. Pumps can be classified into three major groups according to the method they use to move the fluid: direct lift, displacement, and gravity pumps.
Pumps operate by some mechanism (typically reciprocating or rotary), and consume energy to perform mechanical work by moving the fluid. Pumps operate via many energy sources, including manual operation, electricity, engines, or wind power, come in many sizes, from microscopic for use in medical applications to large industrial pumps.
Mechanical pumps serve in a wide range of applications such as pumping water from wells, aquarium filtering, pond filtering and aeration, in the car industry for water-cooling and fuel injection, in the energy industry for pumping oil and natural gas or for operating cooling towers. In the medical industry, pumps are used for biochemical processes in developing and manufacturing medicine, and as artificial replacements for body parts, in particular the artificial heart and penile prosthesis.
"Fuck Me Pumps" is a song by English singer and songwriter Amy Winehouse from her debut studio album Frank (2003). Written by Winehouse and Salaam Remi, the song was released in the United Kingdom as the album's fourth and final single on 23 August 2004 under the title "Pumps"—with "Help Yourself" as its coupling track—reaching number sixty-five on the UK Singles Chart. A clean radio edit was released for promotional purposes.
The track is about stereotypical "gold-digging" girls. The term "fuck-me pumps" or "FMPs" is a slang expression for sexy women's shoes, particularly those featuring bare heels. Chris Willman from Entertainment picked "Fuck Me Pumps" as the best song from Frank.
The music video for "Pumps" shows Winehouse walking the streets with a microphone wearing pumps (high-heeled shoes). It shows the type of girls whom Winehouse sings about in the song in front of a nightclub arguing, as well as Winehouse walking through several streets with a microphone in her hand. The farther she walks, the shorter the coil on the microphone gets. Along with the lyrical phrases about money-hungry women looking for security and love, Winehouse sarcastically explains the irony of it.

So much more than I thought this world could ever hold
So much more than I thought this world could ever hold
We think we're heroes, we think we're kings
We plan all kinds of fabulous things
Oh, look how great we have become
Key in the door, the moment I've been longing for
Before my bag hit the floor
My adorable children rush up screaming for a kiss
And a story they're a gift to this world
My only claim to glory, I surely never knew sweeter days
Blows my mind like munitions, I'm amazed
So much heaven, so much hell, so much love, so much pain
So much more than I thought this world could ever contain
So much war, so much soul, one man's loss, another man's gold
So much more than I thought this world could ever hold
We're just children, we're just dust, we are small and we are lost
And we're nothing, nothing at all
One bomb, the whole block gone
Can't find me children and dust covers the sun
Everywhere is noise, panic and confusion
But to some another fun day in Babylon
I'm gonna bury my wife and dig up my gun
My life is done, so now I've got to kill someone
So much heaven, so much hell, so much love, so much pain
So much more than I thought this world could ever contain
So much war, so much soul, moments lost, moments go
So much more than I thought this world could ever hold
So much more than I thought this world could ever hold
So much more than I thought this world could ever hold
So much heaven, so much hell, so much love, so much pain
So much more than I thought this world could ever contain
So much war, so much soul, moments lost, moments go
