There's a Floppy Disk on the Floor (Original Song)
www.twitter.com Watch Floppy Disk LIVE on TheStream.tv on the 30th! www.tobyturner.com Based on a true floppy. I don't like cleaning but my momma makes me anyway. She said, "I'm sick of this crap, boy you gonna clean the house today." She said, "I'ma go to the store and when I come home it betta be done." I said, "No problem, ma, I'ma pick my shit up one by one." When she walked out the door I started cleanin' like she said. The only problem is I am easily distracted. I started cleaning shit 'til something shiny caught my eye... it was a plastic square with dimensions of 3.5. There's a floppy disk on the floor, There's a floppy disk on the floor, Baw. There's a floppy disk on the floor, There's a floppy disk on the floor, Oww. There's a floppy disk on the floor, There's a floppy disk on the floor, Aow. There's a floppy disk on the floor, There's a floppy disk on the floor, Click. Next thing I knew, door flew right open, she came in with groceries. Oh no all I did was sing this song, maybe I have ADD. She pointed fervently at all the mess her eyes ablaze. But then she froze right there when something shiny caught her gaze. I'm sure it wasn't hard to see how little I had done. But then she looked at me and then we sang in unison. There's a floppy disk on the floor, There's a floppy disk on the floor, Baw. There's a floppy disk on the floor, There's a floppy disk on the floor, Oww. There's a floppy disk on the floor, There's a floppy disk on the floor, Aow. There's a floppy ...

Derezzed on five floppy drives
I WANT TO MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR. I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL CREATOR OF THE SOFTWARE USED HERE. I found this software in my quest to accomplish floppy drive music!! While I am intimately familiar with it and tried to accomplish the same thing on my own, I found this solution instead and used it! The awesome person who made is named Sammy1Am and if you have not seen his stuff you must go to his channel. Right now! I made this point very clear in past videos but many people are landing here first and have not seen the others! Thank you for watching! AWWWWWWWWWWW YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! 'Nuff said. If you like this then PLEASE like, comment on, favorite, and above all, SHARE my video! It lets me know you care =D This was made possible thanks to midimachine on newgrounds! Check out his page at: midimachine.newgrounds.com He's got a bunch of awesome stuff on there. Enjoy this video? Check out the rest of them through this playlist: www.youtube.com After discovering some things, I found a better way of recording my stuff and thus give you two versions. The first is the original audio from the video and the second is using the updated technique for recording. Let me know which you find to be better =D

Doctor Who Theme on eight floppy drives
I've been extremely busy the last month or so. First my computer died on me, then finals, then work, and on top of that most of my family moved away to India. So sorry for the delay in videos. I'm still preoccupied, but I hope to be able to start putting videos up again. This was highly requested from long ago so I hope you guys enjoy it. I've really thought about how I record my audio and what has sounded good over the past videos. I combined those elements as best I could. I don't have two microphones of equal quality, so I recorded the left four and right four drives separately and pushed the audio to their respective side. I then recorded all eight and put it through a low pass filter and a small bass boost. I think the resulting mix of the three tracks sounds the best. It takes a lot more time to record and edit, but I thought it was worth it. Let me know what you think. Oh and I also started a FaceBook page. Haven't really built it out yet, but I'll get to it. ________________________________________________________ Enjoyed this? You know you did. During the first month of the year 2010, a group of 9 brave soldiers worked for 30 days straight, without seeing the light of day inside a secret dungeon located in Los Angeles, California. Their task was to gather 90 handmade cookies, sugar, milk, flour, chocolate, eggs and dough; and utilize them to create a 4 minute stop motion video for a foreign artist whose lyrics still remain unknown. They disappeared for 6 weeks and just recently emerged out of the darkness with a small floppy disk containing this:

James Bond Theme on eight floppy drives
This song was done by Gigawipf! I have remade it myself in order to show you other people who do floppy drive music. I've got a total of four videos in this set with this being the last one! Those who are part of my Facebook page, Twitter, and my forum on Abyssal Gaming Network already had access to this set way back when I posted it on 6/8. You don't have to sign up for anyone of them to get access. Though it does make your life a bit easier =) Just check them out every now and then. Links to all of these further below. His channel: www.youtube.com His video: youtu.be This guy has a pretty awesome channel in my opinion. Not only does he do some good floppy drive music videos, but he also has some videos of various things he does with electronics. Its a good mix =) His setup is pretty awesome too as he is using an Arduino Mega. With it, he has a 12 drive setup! Go to his channel to see it in action. I liked his rendition of the 007 theme so I chose that at the time, but he has same way cooler stuff now! He's done the Mortal Kombat theme and Sweet Dreams, both of which sound awesome. I think it's only a matter of time before he gets the hang of it and arranges them really well. Definitely another floppy drive musician you should keep your eye on. ________________________________________________________ Enjoyed this? You know you did. Doom - E1M1 on eight floppy drives
I actually hit the limit of my Arduino with this song. I had intended to have the other seven drives play the really fast parts as well, but the Arduino had trouble switching pin states for all the pins necessary so fast. So instead I just got like five notes out of something thats supposed to play thirty. I don't think it was because it couldn't switch pin states fast enough because I improved the number of cycles it takes to do that, but rather because the loop used to do so isn't effecient enough to keep up with that many operations. Going to have to take a look at the Arduino code sometime. Hope you guys enjoy this! ________________________________________________________ Enjoyed this? You know you did. Phantom of the Floppera
Visit georgewhiteside.net for more information! Test run of my (d)iskette (O)rgan doing Toccata & Fugue. People have made floppy drives sing before, but this is my personal take on it. Features two 3 1/2" drives and two 5 1/4" drives connected to a PIC18f14k50 microcontroller. It interfaces to any MIDI source via MIDI over USB. Straight MIDI would also be possible with an additional small circuit and some minor firmware changes. This initial version can respond to all 128 MIDI notes, and pitch bends +/- 2 semitones. As it can produce only four simultaneous notes, and each drive has a different range and tonal characteristics, best results are obtained by arranging compositions by hand. However, it features two modes of operation: in one mode, MIDI channels 1 through 4 are played directly on floppy drives 1 through 4. In the other mode, all 16 MIDI channels are read, and notes are "intelligently" divvied out on a first-come, first-serve basis. "Note stealing" ensures that melody lines sound, but chords are often cut short. One or the other produces acceptable results for many unmodified MIDI files straight out of your favorite media player. I apologize for the poor video quality. :) *** Update Feb. 10, 2011: Wow, I just want to give a HUGE thank-you to every one of you for the overwhelmingly positive response! It truly means a lot to me. I'm reading all your comments, and I've been answering individual questions--but due to popular demand, I will be posting a web site with ...
