Cotton vs. Wood Pulp
The absorbent core of nearly all sanitary pads, including other natural brands, is made from Wood Pulp. Wood Pulp comes from trees and is a known irritant. Maxim Hygiene was the first line of 100% Cotton Sanitary Pads on the US market. We get tons of calls from women who can't stand the fact that their pads are so uncomfortable and they are SO EXCITED once they try Maxim Hygiene pads. Cotton by nature is also softer and more absorbent than wood pulp. This video explains how to tell the difference between the two. For more information on our 100% Natural Cotton pads and all of our Organic and Natural Feminine Hygiene Products visit www.maximhy.com

"Cotton and Wood Pulp Paste" Palm Fabric Orchestra & PDP
Abra Moore and I were up in Canada visiting a friend of ours and this song came along so we drove out of the mountains to Edmonton and found a small studio, we went in and recorded this song (as well as the basic tracks for "fever" and "going up the country" for the fruitless ep). I put down the Guitar, Bass and scratch Drums first, then a scratch vocal... Then Abra put down what is for me; one of the most hauntingly beautiful piano tracks I have ever heard, Then she put down that amazing vocal - and we were done for the day. We drove back up into to the mountains of Jasper area and had dinner at our friends house... and knew we had just recorded something lovely. When we got back to Austin, I asked Malford Milligan to sing the lead for me. I really love his and Abra's voice together : two of my favorite singers in the world - we had just done most of the recording for the PALM FABRIC ORCHESTRA album together and we were on a roll. This is one of my favorite PDP / PFO songs ever. There is a Strange Magic in this recording... Which is what you hope for every time you record, but only ever so often happens. Abra is one of those people I trust with out question. (ps The painting at the end of the video was drawn by Frank & finger painted by 10 year old Summer Spring Nelson :)

Low Cost Sanitary Napkin Making Video
Napkins are manufactured in high cost machines only. The cost of the machine is about 75 lacs to 2.5 crores. These machines are generally run by multinational companies only. By seeing the napkins whiteness, people who are interested to make these napkins feel that the material used for napkin manufacture is cotton. They used viscose cloth to wrap the cotton. The cotton has a tendency to absorb the liquid, but is releases under slightest pressure or sqeeze,Due to this simple reason acceptability and salability became tougher which led to collapse of these industries. But on automated plant big companies are not using cotton instead they are using wood pulp. Wood pulp and non woven fabrics are generally procured in roll forms that can be processed on high cost machines only. The nature of the wood pulp is that it will absorb and retain the liquid even under pressure .This would give a dry feel to the user. Thus users are satisfied. Now by this just Rs.75000 worth new invention mini sanitary napkin unit that runs on simple technology can be process the wood pulp and the non woven fabric , and even a rural women can manufacture superior saleable napkins at a fraction of cost compared to big company manufacturing units. Red Paper Wasp Gathering Wood Pulp
I have been working on reclaiming my shed from termite damage over the last few days. While I was putting up some sheeting on the least accessible wall that is a few feet from the side fence, I saw this little guy gathering wood fibers to make his nest. He just keeps making trips between the shed and my awning where the nest is being built. I can see the little strips of fresh wood all over now where it has been stripped of the weathered outer most layer.
