Torguud Summer Nomadic Migration, Bulgan soum, Hovd aimag, Mongolia
This is a visual trailer of a documentary film currently under production about the annual Mongolian Torguud summer nomadic migration in Bulgan soum, Khovd province in Mongolia. The Torguud embark on one of the longest nomadic movements in Mongolia, with families traveling between 250-400 kilometers to summer pastures high up in the Altai mountains. The Torguud trace their ancestry to the imperial guards of Chinggis Khaan and his descendants, and they held significant political and military power in Inner Asia from the 15th-19th centuries. In the early 1600s the Torguud migrated to the southern Volga River in Russia, and in 1771 they returned to their homeland in the Ili River Valley of present-day Xinjiang, China with their population decimated by fighting, hunger, and extreme weather. This film links the history of the Torguud with their present-day annual nomadic migration through the stories and memories of four Torguud families. It also portrays the complexity and interdependence of rural and urban livelihoods in modern Mongolia.

But this traditional nomadic lifestyle has been under threat from soaring populations and a changing climate. CARE helps by offering cattle de-stocking programs and access to clean water for animals and communities. Cattle penning in Thanjavur
Most of the Pastoralists of the world were different from the Cattle penners and also in their function of the Profession. Pastoralists were professional nomads and they don't have any place to settle permanently. The Cattle penners of Tamil Nadu were the seasonal nomads and they have permanent settlement of their communities at one village, who will also be doing some permanent profession there like Agriculture. Cattle penners have Socio-functional utility with their profession, unlike the nomadic pastoralists, who thrive for their livelihood alone. In short the Cattle Penners and their communities was the flower of the civilization's excellence and the societies have evolved in such a way to protect and effectively utilize the existing resources. These cattle penners stand as the symbol for sustainability. The life of the cattle penners and their community is the best coping mechanism in the Eastern Tamil nadu's livelihood. Mobile communities and climate change Shepherds choos solar
Even as the prospect of a warmer globe and climate chaos loom large and countries fiercely bicker about where to put the blame, a large population of humanity, a population approximately equivalent to the population of a country like Germany ; about 70 million people, in India are historically nomadic . A significant portion of them are pastoral nomads herding livestock for 12 months of the year. It is not this life style which is amazing but rather their life without style which is almost negative in its carbon foot print in terms of the energy they consume. Yet , they contribute significantly to different sections of the Indian population with food , fertilizer and fibre. ANTHRA has been working with these communities providing support especially in livestock health , education. Today many shepherds are eager to use mobile phones to connect with their families while on migration .ANTHRA provides a proactive sms service informing shepherds of what they need to do each month to prevent disease in their livestock. As they do not have access to electricity for charging their mobiles while on migration ANTHRA has assisted them get appropriate solar mobile chargers and lanterns
