Plan Abu Dhabi 2030
The Urban Planning Council of Abu Dhabi (UPC) appointed Squint Opera to create a short film illustrating their grand Urban Planning Guide for Abu Dhabi. The film is presented at Cityscape Abu Dhabi from the 13th to the 15th of May 2008. The film communicates the principles and visualises the UPC plans for the expansion of the city to attract investors, developers and architects. The UPC commissioned this film as an awe-inspiring vision demonstrating the scale, ambition and radical nature of the plan. Alice Scott directed the six-minute film that describes the plan on 3D, bringing life to certain aspects of the unique environment and a future evolving culture. Through 4 main key themes (Green -- Live -- Work -- Connect) we are shown pedestrians walking the shaded sidewalks, using the world-class metro system and trams surrounded by green, energy saving residential townhouses, villas, high rises, offices and retail developments. The imagery shows desert landscaping, renewable energy measures and water-cooling canals in the streets of Abu Dhabi and demonstrates a efficient quality of life for the future population.

Abu Dhabi - United Arab Emirates
Abu Dhabi is the capital of, and the second largest city in the United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi lies on a T-shaped island jutting into the Persian Gulf from the central western coast. The city proper, making up an area of 67340 km2 (26000 sq mi), had an estimated population of 860000 in 2008. Abu Dhabi houses important offices of the federal government, and is the seat for the United Arab Emirates Government and the home for the Emirati Royal Family. Abu Dhabi has grown to be a cosmopolitan metropolis. Its rapid development and urbanisation, coupled with the relatively high average income of its population, has transformed Abu Dhabi, making the city more advanced than most other Arab cities. Today the city is the country's center of political, industrial activities, and a major cultural, and commercial centre due to its position as the capital. Abu Dhabi alone generated 56.7% of the GDP of the United Arab Emirates in 2008. Abu Dhabi is home to important financial institutions such as the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates and the corporate headquarters of many companies and numerous multinational corporations. One of the world's largest producers of oil, Abu Dhabi has actively attempted to diversify its economy in recent years through investments in financial services and tourism. Abu Dhabi is the third most expensive city in the region, and 26th most expensive city in the world. Fortune stated in 2007 that Abu Dhabi was the ...

So this one is with some short comments about what to see and presenters beeing involved in what is happening. Hope you like it ;-)

ABU DHABI 2011 - time lapse film (shorter version)
The definitive version of 'Abu Dhabi - 2011' time lapse film.
It features the phenomenal original score by Vladimir Persan.
Do yourself a favour and watch this film with high quality speakers because the music Vlad composed truly deserves to be heard in all of its glory.
Hook your computer to multi-media speakers, home stereo, TV or headphones but DO NOT, for the sake of all that is holy, listen to the sound on the laptop's crappy built-in speaker or just as unforgivably; muted!!
UPDATE - 12 MARCH 2012 - Vladimir Persan's Original Soundtrack wins the nomination for 'BEST ORCHESTRAL/INSTRUMENTAL SONG at Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2012' !!!!
I’d like to thank Timesand Studios for their support on this project. I absolutely must thank Vladimir Persan for his help and the time and efforts he invested into creating the amazing original score. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the obliging staff of Arabian Construction Company and Arabtec - their project managers were utterly helpful and understanding - and all the safety staff that catered to my every need throughout the shoot. Lastly, I want to extend my super-special thanks to Mr. Ousama Ghannoum, Marketing and Media Director of Aldar. Without his help, this film would’ve never seen the light.
There was quite a media frenzy about this film; below are some of the newspapers, magazines and even TV networks that interviewed me:

Video Montage: Urban Tranquility - Abu Dhabi, UAE (Canon EOS 7D)
Hi guys, this is my first personal video project. I'm a Filipino from Cagayan de Oro City, currently working in Abu dhabi. First time with video shooting and pretty lucky its with the Canon EOS 7D. I never had a video camera of my own before until now. I'm still trying to learn this thing thru good ol' self-learning and getting inspiration from a lot of people all over the internet. But oh well, there is a first time for everything I guess. Please don't be too harsh on the critiques! hehe.
All shots done in abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Using up 2 separate mornings and one cold afternoon for video timelapse. I also tried to shoot when there was nobody around, like early morning or when everybody else is working and in the office. Even tho I have a lot of things in mind, I was not able to really stay long out there and shoot. I have a very busy schedule and very little free time.
All shots using Canon EOS 7D.
LENSES
Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8 L USM
Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 D
(I just wish I had at least a fluid head, a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 coz 24mm on 7D is not very wide; because of 1.6x crop factor on Canon, and if somebody would let me borrow a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM for a few days, that would be great! -oOo-Shameless plug-oOo-)
Editing was in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. Very n00b Color grading done in Adobe After Effects CS4, preparation of EOS 7D Videos using MPEG Streamclip for windows.
System used was an average laptop called HP Pavilion DV6. It has intel Core 2 Duo P800 2.53GHz but still very slow to render and convert Full HD 1080p. It's "slowness" frustrating. But it still gets the job done, it just needs a little more time tho.
Music: Chill Sessions Chill in Arabia: Snow Desert - Speechless Project (TQT Mix) (So! sorry I forgot this one on the video ending credits, shame on me)
Special Thanks:
Friends and family. Erwin Magbanua (http://www.vimeo.com/wingdezigns) for being my mentor in this Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects thingee. Titz Tizon for being my on-call consultant for all things about Nikon, Canon and beyond. Ratfobya for being my drive and inspiration. Wella Maria Hong for being my trusty assistant.
(Sorry for the letterbox on the video. Will upload a larger version later.)
Most Colorgrading learned from: VideoCoPilot and GreyscaleGorilla and youtube
UPDATE: I have uploaded a new video without a letterbox . Resolution is 1280 x 720 - 24fps - H.264 - mp4
[workflow]
The awesome PATRICIO MUñOZ of 7DPro.com helped me in putting up a short Q&A; workflow article on the 7D.

A project that started in January 2011 and completed shooting on May 2011. My goal was simply to explore and look for interesting unique sceneries around the UAE, and capture it's beauty with time-lapse photography. Winter season plays a big part of my journey, as it's the best time to chase visible fluffy clouds with a true blue sky that only exist to the human eye at this time of the year.
I took around 300,000 images and traveled some 4000kms going around the cities of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Ain, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. I ended up going more than once on few locations which mostly I searched the coordinates online. There's some tiny little setbacks like wrong coordinates, clouds disappearance, being turned down to take photos (after a 2 hour drive), miscalculated driving time, sets of glowing eyes in the mountain, some wild animal noise in the dark (well it's not really a hindrance, but it is abit alarming) and few unnecessary technical issues, which is typically part of trying out and learning something new :)
The whole trip was very exhausting and time consuming, but it's all worth it in the end. I've seen so many beautiful places here in the UAE, plus I enjoyed all the long drives as well as being close to nature and far away from city for awhile. I'm hoping to find more time and discover new places and capture it again on video :)
A big thanks to Ryan Scully, a music composer based in New York for taking the time producing the original score. http://soundcloud.com/prscully20

Ferrari's Alonso and Massa ride world's fastest rollercoaster at Ferrari World
The Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro drivers visited Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, the theme park centred on the Maranello marque. It is located on Yas Island, the venue which hosts the nineteenth and final round of the Formula 1 World Championship. Felipe and Fernando arrived in the Emirates on Tuesday night to bring the curtain down on this closely contested season and today they were taken to the Scuderia Challenge, an attraction in the park which allows people to tackle a simulated lap of the Yas Marina Circuit at the wheel of a 430 Scuderia Challenge car. Four journalists were in attendance, Ottavio Daviddi of Tutto Sport, Stefano Mancini of La Stampa, Laurent Dupin of TF1 and Julien Febreau of Europe 1. These men were the top qualifiers of a competition held yesterday for the international media. The two drivers were bubbling with excitement having just experienced the Formula Rossa, the world's fastest rollercoaster. "Really incredible," was the unanimous verdict of Fernando Alonso who won the first race on the simulator and Felipe Massa, at the end of the breathtaking lap. "Thanks to this attraction, all lovers of speed, like us will be able to experience, for once in their lives at least, the unique sensation of being launched into the air at 240 kilometres per hour, as well as enjoying what is a truly great day for all real Ferrari fans."
