Two years after her husband's death, Christine Faber (Lynn Bari) thinks she hears her late husband (Richard Carlson) calling out of the surf on the beach one night. She meets a tall dark man (Turhan Bey) who seems to know all about her. After more ghostly manifestations, Christine and her younger sister (Cathy O'Donnell) become enmeshed in the strange life of Alexis; but he in turn finds himself manipulated into deeper cruelness than he had in mind.

ما هي حرب النكبة عام 1948
قبل التكلم عن حرب 48 سنتطرق إلى بعض الأحداث والظروف التي مرت بها فلسطين قبل الحرب
لمدة تزيد عن 1200 سنة حكم المسلمون فلسطين وعاش فيها الجميع من مسلمين ومسيحيين ويهود في سلام وكان آخر حكم إسلامي تحت ظل الخلافة العثمانية حتى مطلع القرن العشرين.
حتى عام 1900 كان معظم سكان فلسطين من المسلمين بنسبة تقريبية (85%)
ثم يليهم المسيحيون (10%)
ثم اليهود (5%) أي أن اليهود لم يشكلوا سوى 5% من نسبة سكان فلسطين
ولكن المشروع الصهيوني كان قد بدأ فتوالت هجرة اليهود من شتى أنحاء العالم إلى فلسطين. وهذه الهجرة المنظمة هي السبب الرئيسي في قضية فلسطين حيث أن اليهود القادمين كانوا محملين بالفكر الصهيوني القائم على أن أرض فلسطين هي أرض لهم وحدهم ولا يهم مصير السكان الأصليين فيها. المهم أن يقيموا على فلسطين دولة يهودية لهم بأي وسيلة كانت.
وبانتهاء الحرب العالمية الأولى تقاسمت بريطانيا وفرنسا بلاد الشام، ومنحت بريطانيا اليهود وعد بإقامة وطن لهم في فلسطين فأعطتهم الغطاء الشرعي وسهّلت لهم الهجرة إلى فلسطين فكان بالفعل وعد ممن لا يملك لمن لا يستحق
وبفعل موجات الهجرة الكثيفة تغيرت تركبية السكان في فلسطين.
فزاد عدد اليهود من 5% عام 1900 إلى 31% عام 1947
ومع ذلك لم يملك اليهود إلا نسبة قليلة جداً من أرض فلسطين
وهذه الصورة تبين ما ملكه اليهود حتى عام 1947
ثم جاءت النكبة ..... حرب 1948
في شهر 5 عام 1948 انسحبت بريطانيا من فلسطين وأعلن الصهاينة قيام دولة إسرائيل على أرض فلسطين وفي اليوم التالي اندلعت الحرب بين الجيوش العربية والصهاينة اليهود.
ولكن عدم التنسيق بين الجيوش العربية وتضارب الأوامر وبعض الاتفاقيات السرية الخائنة وضعف الجيوش ونفاد الذخيرة وغيرها .. كل هذا أدى إلى هزيمة الجيوش العربية.
انتهت حرب 48 باحتلال الصهاينة 78% من أرض فلسطين وإقامة دولة الكيان الصهيوني عليها.
وتقسمت فلسطين إلى ثلاثة مناطق:
الضفة الغربية بقيت بيد العرب حتى عام 1967
وقطاع غزة بقي بيد العرب حتى عام 1967
وأراضي 48 أصبحت بيد الصهاينة الذين أقاموا عليها دولة إسرائيل
من 9% من أرض فلسطين إلى 78% ... هذه هي حرب 1948
في هذه الحرب ... استشهد أكثر من 15 ألف فلسطيني وعربي
وقام الصهاينة بأكثر من 50 مذبحة "موثقة" وقعت بحق الفلسطينيين

The 1948 Israeli War of Independence
The 1948 Israeli War of Independence began when the United Nations decided to partition Palestine into separated Jewish and Arab states. The Arabs were not staisfied with the deal, as they wanted Palestine to be for Arabs only. They said that they would "fight for every inch of our country." Riots ensued almost immediately after the Partition Plan was approved. Arabs were able to take over many British military bases, and used the weaponry they acquired to launch attacks on Jewish communities. Jewish militias fought back, and after the British left Palestine, Israel was declared a state.
The 1948 War of Independence was a conflict that was instigated by the proposition of a compromise. For that reason, the topic is consistent with the theme of "Conflict and Compromise," though the order in which the two take lace in my topic is not identical to the order of the2007-2008 National History Day theme. The compromise occurred before the conflict.

If you like "golden TV oldies", you should enjoy this 2-part YouTube series, which takes us back to the very earliest days of television -- 1948.
Harry Truman defeats Thomas E. Dewey in the 1948 U.S. Presidential Election....and "Life-NBC TV" was there (including co-anchor John Cameron "It Takes A Licking And Keeps On Ticking" Swayze).
This was the first Presidential election during the "TV era". The reporting methods were primitive and the camerawork was crude and rough at times, but this is American TV as it was more than 60 years ago, and it's great to see that some of the things from way back then managed to survive the six interim decades.
This footage is even three years older than the debut of "I Love Lucy"! Now that's really going way back!
