CSAV Hawaii: Volcano Research Hawaii 2012
In 2012, university researchers visit Kilauea lava flows, both aa and pahoehoe, high up the pali adjacent to Royal Gardens. University students in heat-protective clothing accompany the scientists. Stanford students use a pry bar to learn about viscosity. The UH Hilo volcanology class obtains temperature measurements using a radiometer and a thermocouple. And if you ever wonder whether or not you should take a picture, don't forget, you can always (02:31) ask Siri. This video was recorded high up on the pali, not on the coastal plain. When the lava is far up on the pali, visitors to the Kalapana Viewing Area enjoy a spectacular sight, because the glow is visible for miles. Please remain within the boundaries of the safe official viewing area. Civil Defense, advised by HVO scientists, determines which locations are best for visitors to see lava flows near Kalapana. Geologists with special access permits are allowed to hike where visitors are not able to go, to conduct research. Visit the HVO web site for daily updates. volcanoes.usgs.gov Visit the UHH Geology web site for more details on our programs. www.hilo.hawaii.edu Video shot & edited by UHH Center for the Study of Active Volcanoes (CSAV), visit www.hilo.hawaii.edu

Indonesia Volcano Erupts
A VOLATILE volcano has erupted in northern Indonesia, spewing smoke and ash and causing muddy rain to fall in nearby villages. Mount Lokon in northern Sulawesi province erupted on Sunday afternoon as heavy rain fell around its cloud-covered crater, local monitoring officer Farid Ruskanda Bina said. The eruption was heard five kilometres away but the height of the eruption was not visible. It was the second eruption in two months. An eruption in 1991 killed a Swiss hiker and forced thousands to flee. Indonesia straddles the Pacific ring of fire and has more active volcanoes than any other country. ------------- JAKARTA, Indonesia -- A volatile volcano in northern Indonesia erupted Sunday, spewing smoke and ash that caused muddy rain to fall in nearby villages, an official said. Mount Lokon in North Sulawesi province rumbled as heavy rain fell around its cloud-covered crater, local monitoring official Farid Ruskanda Bina said. He said the sound was heard 5 kilometers (3 miles) away but the height of the eruption was not visible. The ash made the rain thick and muddy in six villages, Bina said. "Soldiers are distributing masks to the villagers," he said. There was no plan for evacuations because the nearest villages are beyond the danger area, he said. More than 33000 people live along the fertile slopes of the 5741-foot (1750-meter) mountain. Mount Lokon is one of about 129 active volcanoes in Indonesia. Its last major eruption in 1991 killed a Swiss hiker and forced ...

Volcano in a Cup - Sick Science #096
Read the full experiment at www.stevespanglerscience.com When you hear about a volcano erupting, what do you think is going on? If you're like us, you think of red hot chunks of rock being hurled thousands of feet in the air, flows of liquid magma, and plumes of smoke. That's not always the case. Some volcanoes erupt underwater and their smoking hot by-products are immediately cooled. With the Storm in a Cup, you can see what happens underwater on a smaller, safer scale. After a period of relative silence, Sakurajima Volcano in Japan has given off a spectacular eruption. Large volumes of magma/lava , static discharge lightning, ash, and steam are propelled miles into the air. Fuego volcano erupts
Guatemala's Fuego volcano has erupted, spewing out smoke and ash, forcing the widespread evacuation of thousands of Guatemalans living in the shadow of the massive volcano. With little time to prepare for the sudden evacuation, Red Cross officials and volunteers were called in to help terrified families settle into temporary shelter at a local school in the Santa Lucia municipality. This Red Cross volunteer explained how many people there were currently receiving aid at the centre. "At the moment, we have accounted for 304 people, we have 97 boys, 93 girls, 95 women and 19 men. Amongst them are five pregnant women and four people with disabilities, one person, who is not self-mobile and arrived in a plastic chair, because they do not have a wheelchair, and this is what is worrying us the most as well." According to authorities, some 8000 people have been evacuated and an additional 23000 are awaiting evacuation in towns surrounding the massive volcano. This is the second big eruption in the last two years for the country following the eruption of Pacaya in 2010, which is one of Guatemala's four active volcanoes. It then covered Guatemala City with a layer of ash, closing the airport, and forcing the evacuation of hundreds of families. We are continuing to receive reports on this volcano story. Last 5 months of Worldwide Volcano Eruptions/68 Dormant Volcanoes have awakened since February!
For all you HAARP fanatics out there; (NEWS FLASH!) These aren't caused by HAARP! Give it a rest already. I have proved time after time that once the Earth recieves a glancing blow or is slammed by Massive CME's/Solar Flares; there is a major uptick in Earthquake/Volcano Activity across the Globe the following days. Its called "Bible Prophecy 101! Wake up & realize whats taking place. People hide behind there fears of the unknown by brainwashing themselves into believing everything is man made because they cant grasp the thought that Gods Wrath & Judgement is at the door. Quit living in your imaginary state of Denial! This is called reality; so get used to it because its only going to get worse from here on out!

Iceland, Eyjafjallajökull - May 1st and 2nd, 2010
So I saw all of these pictures of that volcano in Iceland nobody can pronounce the name of, so I figured I should go and do something that is not news footage but something more cinematic. But the flights to get over took forever as expected (somewhat). 4 days after leaving I finally made it, but the weather was terrible for another 4. Just before leaving it got pretty good for about a day and a half and this is what I managed to get.
Wish I had more time. I missed all the cool Lightning and the Lava of the first eruption. But I figure this will just be a trial run for another day.
I am of course accepting sponsors to send me back there for more please...!! haha

Eruption after person falls in lava lake of volcano (test with organic waste, garbage, trash)
Incineration of waste in Erta Ale Volcanoes lava lake. It is frequently discussed whether it is possible to sink in lava. Due to its high density, a person would generally be expected to remain on the surface. Indeed it is possible to briefly walk on certain types of lava if professional heat-protective clothing is worn (do not try yourself). However, the video shows that falling from a height, a person would be able to penetrate the crust of the lake and submerge in it. The test was performed with a box of camp waste (largely food rests) in a bin bag. Estimated weight 30kg, Size 60x60x60cm. Fall height, about 80m. The lake reacts with violent lava fountaining activity, presumably in part due to steam produced from the organic matter. The lava lake at Erta Ale has persisted for many years and contains relatively fluid basaltic lava. Only few volcanoes have such lakes. Due to the large number of copyright violations in recent days, users are reminded that they may not resubmit the video or parts of it (in amended or unamended form) under their own name. This is being monitored and youtube will be notified of any further violations. This is the original version of the video which I filmed myself and of which I am the sole rights holder.

Anak-Krakatau volcano eruption, 3rd Sep. 2012 (22min)
Footage of the Anak-Krakatau eruption on 3rdth September 2012, filmed between 11:28-15:18 local time. This is all my video recorded from this day. The footage show the end of the intense eruption, that started on the 2nd September and decreased on the evening of the 4th September. The eruptions produced a lava flow to the east and west, both which produced steam clouds near the sea, as the lava came in contact with water, as can be seen in the footage. If you listen carefully, you can hear the intensity of the sound of the eruption. Note also the large volumes of rock being thrown out of the crater during some periods in the footage, and the intensity of the eruptions. Note. Sorry for the bad quality of the footage, I had to increase the contrast and color, as I filmed against the sun (from Rakata) and the voices in the background.
