March 28, 2012 'US Soldiers Used Steroids B4 Massacre' SBS "Dateline" received unprecedented access to the survivors and investigation of the Kandahar village massacre by US forces. Grieving survivors describe Afghan massacre; US military war crimes & Genocide against Pashtuns in Afghanistan Reporter Yalda Hakim of Australia's SBS network has become the first western journalist to visit the villages where a US soldier allegedly killed 17 people. In a remarkable report she talks with some of the survivors and some Afghan guards on duty at the military camp from where Staff Sergeant Robert Bales left on his alleged killing spree. The video at the top of this story is Hakim's account of her journey to the remote villages near Kandahar and what she was told. Bales is now held at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas and has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder. The events of that March night in a rural area some 20 kilometers from Kandahar are being investigated by both the US military and Afghan authorities. But much remains unknown. Many Afghans, including some of the survivors that night, believe more than one US soldier was present in the two villages where the killings took place. Others speak of seeing a single American soldier leaving Camp Belambai that night The US military says there is no evidence that more than one man was involved in the shootings. Bales has not entered a plea. The killings made headlines around the world but at times it seemed the victims were ...

President Obama and Republican Mitt Romney both set out on four-state campaign marathons Sunday morning, as a batch of new polls showed Obama holding on to slim leads in a handful of states that could swing the election. Obama left Washington on Sunday morning for the last time before election day. His itinerary for the second-to-last day of a seemingly endless campaign: New Hampshire, Florida, Ohio, Colorado. In Concord, NH, Obama appeared with former President Bill Clinton before a crowd of 14000 at the state capitol. Obama took the stage after Clinton, and told the crowd that during Clinton's presidency "a Senate candidate named Mitt Romney said Bill Clinton's plan would hurt the economy and kill jobs," Obama said. "Turns out his math was as bad then as it is now," Obama said. Romney's Sunday swing will take him to Iowa, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The challenger held his first event Sunday morning in Des Moines, returning to a state where Romney has campaigned heavily in two election cycles, but has always remained just out of his reach. "Talk is cheap, but a record is real and it's earned with real effort," Romney told a boisterous crowd of 4000 at the Hy-Vee Hall in downtown Des Moines. He reprised a common stump-speech appeal, asking his supporters to reach out to friends and neighbors who may still be undecided. "You can't measure change in speeches. You measure change in achievements," Romney said. With the election looming on Tuesday, new polls seemed to ...

I've recently met with Mrs. Dame Audrey Glover, Head of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe / Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Election Observation Mission to the parliamentary elections in Ukraine. A focus on the elections in Ukraine is very significant. We perfectly understand that everyone is expecting the most democratic and transparent elections from our country. Above all, we're interested in this for ourselves. An unimpeded democratic choice for citizens and a competition of policy programs and views are core values for us. Because only a government, formed on such principles, will be able to further carry out the extensive transformations needed for the country right now. The upcoming parliamentary elections in Ukraine should be aimed at building up the state, not towards its downgrading and division. We will do everything we can in order for Ukraine to advance in a modern way, down the path of progress and development. Therefore, both the President and the Government are most interested in the fact that the elections are fair and democratic. We are determined to maximize cooperation and Ukraine is open to all observers who wish to monitor the electoral process. More than one-thousand two-hundred observers from various countries and international organizations have already been registered. Overall, it's expected that the total participation in elections monitoring will include about five-thousand observers. We have completed ...

www.euronews.com The United Nations has warned that an unverified video which appears to show Syrian rebels killing captured regime soldiers could constitute a war crime. The footage was uploaded to social media sites on Thursday. The alleged executions happened after rebels overran army checkpoints near the town of Saraqib between Aleppo and Hammah. The UN says it is attempting to confirm that the killings have taken place. "Unfortunately this could be just the latest in a string of documented summary executions by opposition factions as well as by government forces and groups affiliated with them such as the Shabiha," said Rupert Colville, the UN human rights spokesman. Activists claim the Shabiha is a brutal militia which has been fighting alongside Syrian government forces. They're accused of carrying out several massacres during the uprising. But they appear to be among the victims in this video, as rebels refer to them in their commentary. The men are forced to lay down on the ground before being beaten and shot. Following the recognition of the State of Israel in 1948, Jewish militias quickly defeated the Arab armies that stood in their way as thousands of Palestinians fled their villages, or were forcibly removed by the advancing Israelis. In some villages, the inhabitants were rounded up and executed, and as word of these massacres spread, many more began to leave in panic. Others simply left, believing that they would return to their homes when the fighting was over. For Israelis, 1948 was a triumph in their quest for a safe haven from centuries of persecution, culminating in the Holocaust. But for the Palestinians they displaced, this event is known as "al Nakba", or the Catastrophe.

Gotta vote? Go here: OFA.BO Today, at a grassroots event in Green Bay, Wisconsin, President Obama laid out the closing argument he will make to the American people in the final days of the election. The President is fighting for the same things he's always believed and run on -- that this country cannot succeed without a growing, thriving middle class. In the decade before President Obama took office, middle-class security was undercut by the same top-down, failed economic policies that Mitt Romney is now promoting. While Romney thinks that means 'change,' the President will continue to move our country forward to real change that boosts the middle class and creates a stronger future for all Americans.
