Film Genre introduction
This was a short video I edited together for a media course I teach on. The idea was to produce a short but visually stimulating piece of work to introduce the idea of film genres (incl. Hybrid theory) to students, to get them thinking about the different types and how many films don't neccersarily belong to a single genre type. To make the video, I took clips from various films and pieced them together with 30 Seconds To Mars - Kings And Queens.

10 Genres of Metal in 3 Minutes
Download: razbenari.bandcamp.com Tabs can be found here: www.razbenari.com So apparently no one on YouTube has ever done this as far as I know, here's my attempt at mixing as many genres as possible into a coherent piece of music. =) Recorded using Blackstar HT-Dual and Focusrite Saffire Pro 24. Subscribe if you like what you hear! I'm into creative ideas! If you have an idea for a video and I like it, then I WILL do it and I WILL credit you! Twitter: twitter.com Facebook: www.facebook.com UPDATE: Many people have asked this so to clear things up: This song is 100% original. However, people have noted out the following: - Melodeath part sounds like "Unholy Confessions" by Avenged Sevenfold - Death Metal part sounds like something by Testament - Folk metal part sounds like "Dialogue With The Stars" by In Flames So here's a few recommendations for you if you liked this one. Also, check out my other songs on my channel. Raz

What makes a genre?
Witch house: theneedledrop.tumblr.com What makes something a genre? How many artists have to be making this music? How many people have to be listening to it? Are genres real, or are they in our heads? Are genres just useless labels? Is it all just music? Is there a point to genres? Is chillwave a genre? Is cuddlecore a genre?

...An unparalleled cinematic experience: All.I.Can is a stunning exploratory essay that compares the challenges of big mountain skiing to the challenges of global climate change. Shot on 6 continents over 2 years, the world’s best skiers deliver inspirational performances while ground-breaking cinematography expands our vision of the natural world.
Journey through Morocco’s majestic desert peaks, Greenland’s icy fjords, Chile’s volcanic craters, Alaskan spine walls, and more. Join the revolution and experience one of the most spectacular, captivating, and thought-provoking films ever created in the action sports genre.

ROSA
ROSA is an epic sci-fi short film that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where all natural life has disappeared. From the destruction awakes Rosa, a cyborg deployed from the Kernel project, mankind’s last attempt to restore the earth’s ecosystem. Rosa will soon learn that she is not the only entity that has awakened and must fight for her survival.
The short-film was created entirely by young comic-artist Jesús Orellana with no budget during a single year. Since it's world premiere at the Seattle International Film Festival, ROSA has been an official selection at film festivals around the world such as Screamfest, Toronto After Dark, Anima Mundi or Los Angeles Shorts Film Festival. In October ROSA was screened at the opening night of the Sitges International Film Festival, considered the world's best festival specialized in genre films. Following the succesful festival run, the short film has attracted the attention of the major talent-agencies and Hollywood producers. Currently ROSA is in development to be a live-action motion picture.

I Need Nothing - a nearly useless odyssey
Repositories of stories and its enriching emotions, the covers, that accomodate the existing panoply of musical genres, are the motto for this exibition. The focus is made on album covers that often conquer our memory even when music slightly reached our ears. Major graphic disasters or deified, unduly ignored or zeitgeists, covers provide listening with a touch and an image, with the act of collection and share. From cover to cover, going thru all the stories (and histories), we wrote a new one to the sound of a song that repeats: I need nothing, I’ve everything I need.
‘I need nothing’ is an original concept from Cãoceito + Burdman, shot by Moopie. Its premier happens as a tangential project of EXD’11.
‘Useless’ - the motto of biennial’s current edition - was the kick-off, and the thought on how album covers (vinyls, in this case) enable people to ‘listen with the eyes’ the main goal of the project. At a time where digital audio files dominate but where traditional mediums still seduce fans, the album covers, being useless for some, stay relevant for others.
In this odyssey we benefited from the help of a set of people which, directly or not, live by the rhythm of the music they buy, download, share or create. The Parenthetical Girls lent music (Doughnut) to the video; Moopie shot the video; Matéria Prima yielded the venue in Lisbon; designers/illustrators/artists - Ariana Couvinha, Carla Almeida, Daniel Marques, Diogo Carvalho, Júlio Dolbeth, Hugo Oliveira, Manuel F. Sousa, Mariana Fernandes, Miguel Feraso Cabral, Miguel Vale, Nuno Aguiar, Paulo Lourenço, Paulo Serra, Pedro Naves, Rodrigo Burdman, Rui Vitorino Santos e Samir Mesquita - provided the bulk of over 200 covers, which populate the video and embody the central element of the project, and yet all others who enriched the discussion with surprising texts.

Hold On To Your Genre - Les Savy Fav
Les Savy Fav - Inches - Hold On To Your Genre Hold on to your genre, Your genre's got a hold on you. Hold on to your hair-do, It's the only thing to hold onto. Hold on to your genre, Your genre's got a hold on you. Get up on the vapor, 'Cause the solid's tough to hold on to. There's a promise in the back room. Read it written in the bathroom. You tell a little lie and then you Try to get us in your bedroom. We live our little lives and then you Try to drag you to your death tomb. I've been checking the seams of your Red velvet blazer. Now I'm haunted by dreams of the Things I've found hid there: All the rabbits you've vanished, All the cards that you've killed, All the dawns that you've banished With too many pills. Together Forever, The pity, The pleasure, The privilege, The pressure, The arteries We sever. The stillness, It chills us, But it's chills that we crave. The stillness will fill us when we fill in our graves. I never wanted something Like nothing half this much. I'd gladly trade my state For nullity and such. For once to stop this buzzing And the lights inside my head. Can I please have truly nothing Once before I'm dead? I've been checking the seams of your Red velvet blazer. And I'm seeing the lines of your Will and your wish list: And you wish you were nothing, And you wish you were cold, And you wish days meant something So you'd stop getting old. Back in the day you loved the night, And you would feast with great delight. A walnut coffin lined in silk ...
