  Anah, or Ana, is an Iraqi town on the Euphrates river, approximately mid-way between the Gulf of Alexandretta and the Persian Gulf.
  It is called Hanat in a Babylonian letter, (about 2200 BC), a-na-at by the scribes of Tukulti-Ninurta (885 BC), and An-at by the scribe of Assur-nasir-pal (879 B.C.), Anatho (Isidore Charax), Anatha (Ammianus Marcellinus) by Greek and Latin writers in the early Christian centuries, Ana (sometimes, as if plural, Anat) by Arabic writers. The name has been connected with that of the deity Anat. Descendants with origins from Anah are commonly referred to as "Alanie", literally meaning "the one from Anah" in Arabic.
  Whilst Anah has thus retained its name for forty-two centuries the site is variously described. Most early writers concur in placing it on an island; so Tukulti-Ninurta II, Assur-nasir-pal, Isidore, Ammianus Marcellinus, Ibn Serapion, al-Istakri, Abulfeda and al-Karamani. Ammianus calls it a munimentum, Theophylactus Simocattato 'Anathon frourion, Zosimus a frourion, opp. Fathusai, which may be the Beth(th) ina of Ptolemy (v. 19).Leonhart Rauwolff, in AD 1574, found it "divided ... into two towns," the one "Turkish," "so surrounded by the river, that you cannot go into it but by boats," the other, much larger, on the Arabian side of the river.

  Ana Kristina Gasteyer (born May 4, 1967) is an American actress of stage, film, and television. She is best known as a cast member on the sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from 1996 to 2002. She currently co-stars on the ABC sitcom Suburgatory.
  Gasteyer was born in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Mariana Roumell-Gasteyer, an artist, and Phil Gasteyer, the mayor of Corrales, New Mexico. Her maternal grandparents were Romanian and Greek. She graduated from Sidwell Friends School and Northwestern University.
  Gasteyer developed comedy experience with the famed Los Angeles improv – sketch comedy group The Groundlings. She played small roles on Seinfeld (as a doomed customer of The Soup Nazi), as well as on the shows Party of Five, Hope & Gloria and NYPD Blue. In 1996 Gasteyer joined the cast of Saturday Night Live. Among her most popular characters were high school music teacher Bobbie Mohan-Culp, National Public Radio Delicious Dish host Margaret Jo McCullen, Lilith Festival feminist singer Cinder Calhoun, and her impression of Martha Stewart.

She beat Dinara Safina to win the 2008 French Open and was the runner-up in singles at the 2007 French Open and the 2008 Australian Open. Competing as a professional since 2003, she has won 11 WTA Tour singles titles. When on form, Ivanovic is known for her aggressive style of play.
  Ivanovic's mother Dragana (Драгана), a lawyer, supports her daughter during most of her matches. Her father Miroslav (Мирослав), a self-employed businessman, attends as many events as he possibly can. Ana has a younger brother, Miloš (Милош), with whom she loves to play basketball.
  Aside from her tennis career, Ivanovic also studies finance at a university in Belgrade and Spanish in her spare time. Her inspiration to begin playing was Monica Seles, who at that time played for Yugoslavia.

  Ana Jelušić (born December 28, 1986) is a female skier from Croatia.
  Jelušić was born in Rijeka, at the time SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia. At age 15, she was the youngest athlete competing at the 2002 Winter Olympics
  On January 4, 2006 she won second place in the World Cup Alpine slalom race (Snow Queen Trophy) at Sljeme mountain in Croatia. She finished after Marlies Schild of Austria. In FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2007 she finished in 4th place in slalom.

  Anna Lovisa Johnsson better known by her stage name Ana Johnsson (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈana ˈjoːnsɔn]) (born October 4, 1977 in Gothenburg, Sweden) is a Swedish singer and songwriter. As a teenager she moved to Karlstad and later, as an exchange student in Minneapolis, USA. She took up skiing as a hobby and was for a while a semi-professional snowboarder. It was her experience at Trannyshack that inspired her to start the club Knockoff on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, intended as a "knockoff" version of Trannyshack. She joined Scissor Sisters, founded by Jake Shears and Babydaddy, after they played their first live gig at the club.
  She has stated that in her eyes, the objective of the band is "about people displaying their fantasies on the outside, trying to break out of the everyday, and look like their dreams." In the fan community for the Scissor Sisters, those fans who hold a special affinity for Ana are known as "nuns".   Ana Popović (Serbian Cyrillic: Ана Поповић, born 1976, Belgrade, Serbia) is a Serbian blues guitarist and singer.
  Ana Popović's father first introduced her to the blues, through an extensive record collection and sessions hosted at the family home. Popović founded her first band at age nineteen. Within a year, she was playing outside of her home country Yugoslavia and opening shows for American blues musicians such as Junior Wells. Her band, Hush, released the album Hometown in 1998. The next year, Popović relocated to Amsterdam, Netherlands, to study jazz and world guitar at the Conservatory. In 2000, Popović formed the 'Ana Popovic Band' that became a fixture on the Dutch blues scene, and ventured into neighboring Germany. Popović signed with the German based Ruf Records, and released three albums; Hush! (2001), Comfort to the Soul (2003) and Ana! (2005: live CD & DVD).
  In 2003, Popović was nominated for a W. C. Handy Award in the United States.
  In 2006, Popović signed a recording contract with the Los Angeles, California, based EclectoGroove Records (a division of Delta Groove Music.) For EclectoGroove she recorded a further three albums: Still Making History (2007), Blind For Love (2009) and Unconditional (2011). Both Still Making History and Unconditional reached number one in the United States Billboard Blues Chart. At the 33rd Blues Music Awards (2011) Popović was nominated 3 times: Contemporary Blues Album (Unconditional), Contemporary Blues Female Artist and Best DVD (An Evening at Trasimeno Lake).

  Ana Maria Rodríguez (born February 22, 1974 in Havana, Cuba) is a Cuban singer who has recorded under the stage names Ana and Mía. She relocated with her family to Miami, Florida in 1979. In 1984, Rodríguez signed to Parc Records when she was 10 years old.
  Rodríguez's self-titled first album was released in 1987, and while it was not a hit in the US, it did achieve success in Japan. "Shy Boys" was the first single taken from the album. With the help of New Kids on the Block producer Maurice Starr, Rodríguez recorded under the name of Ana for Epic/Parc Records, a CBS Records subsidiary. This production became her second USA release, Body Language, with most songs produced by Starr and includes the duet "Angel of Love" with New Kids' Jordan Knight. Debbie Gibson also contributed several songs to the album, including "Everytime We Say Goodbye" and "Friendly".
  After years of absence, Rodríguez re-emerged under the name of Mía and released an all-Spanish language album entitled "Tentación" on Univision Records in September 2003.

  Ana Clara Voog (born April 18, 1966) is a musician, visual artist, performance artist and writer from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Voog is the former front woman of The Blue Up?, a pop rock band from the Minneapolis area. On August 22, 1997 Voog began anacam, the second webcam (after JenniCam) that lifecasted, i.e., broadcasted twenty-four hours a day live from a home.
  Ana Voog was born as Rachel Olson on April 18, 1966 to a Lutheran Minister father. She later changed her name to Ana Clara Voog. Although it was never legally changed, Voog has used it as her primary name. Voog attended high school in Stillwater, Minnesota.
  On 22 August 1997, Voog began a webcam project named anacam. Besides a view into Ana Voog's personal life, anacam also incorporated performance art and visual experimentation. Daily activities such as cooking dinner, vacuuming, and hosting visitors fill out the non-interactive periods on anacam. Other activities on the webcam range from chatting with cam-watchers, playing music, and ornate performance pieces involving household items.
