Their Story - The Street Children of Bangui, Central African Republic - July 2012 - War Child UK
In 2011 two friends decided they were going to cycle around the world in aid of War Child UK. Before leaving in, February 2012, they visited Bangui, Central African Republic to see firsthand how War Child UK are supporting a local charity there. The charity, Fondation Voix du Coeur, provides help and support to the street children of Bangui. Here is a short documentary telling the story of just a handful of street children in Bangui and how the Fondation Voix du Coeur, with the help of War Child UK, is providing essential support for them. Please help us support War Child UK. They are a small international charity that protects children from the brutal effects of war and its consequences. They currently work in Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Iraq, Uganda and now Syria. They're on the ground -- supporting the most vulnerable children that are too often forgotten in the aftermath of conflict. You can donate to them direct through our JustGiving page here: www.justgiving.com

Lord's Resistance Army in Obo, Central African Republic
Learn more: pulitzercenter.org Examining the impact the Lord's Resistance Army's has had on the town of Obo in the Central African Republic, and the problems its residents still face. The LRA has a long history of kidnapping. Adolescent boys are easily molded into killers through fear and psychological manipulation. And Joseph Kony rewards loyal commanders with gifts of young girls, who, in turn, bear the children that will one day grow up to perpetuate the macabre system. Following the raid on Obo, LRA commanders carried out a triage of their hostages. Men were separated from women, young from old. A number of women recall being asked if they'd already given birth to children. Those who had were released. This report is part of Pulitzer-sponsored project "The Lord's Resistance Army: The Hunt for Africa's Most Wanted" bit.ly

Food Arrives From Above In Central African Republic
Hundreds of food bags fall from the sky in an emergency air drop over the Central African Republic where thousands of people have fled into remote areas to escape an outbreak of conflict. Isolated and hungry, an air drop is the only way to reach them with food.

Central African Republic: taking action against malaria
Malaria is the number one cause of death in the Central African Republic. The ICRC has been carrying out a pilot project to tackle this scourge since September 2011 in Obo, in the south-east of the country. The idea is simple: diagnose the disease at the first sign of symptoms, administer anti-malarial drugs and provide medical care throughout the treatment, without it costing the patient anything.

On the road with John Ging: Central African Republic
OCHA's Emergency Director John Ging travelled to the Central African Republic (CAR) from 29 February to 2 March to see first-hand the humanitarian conditions in which people affected by conflict, displacement and food insecurity live. While in the Bamingui-Bangoran Prefecture, in north-eastern CAR, where more than tens of thousands of people remain displaced because of recurrent conflict between armed groups, he talks about the urgent need for funding to help these people with basic aid and longer-term support. "They have suffered so much and yet, and yet they remain hopeful. They remain focused on the future and they are courageously trying to rebuild their lives. That should inspire everybody. It certainly inspires our humanitarian colleagues who are with them everyday," he says.

Ethiopia beats Central African Republic 2-0 in FIFA World Cup Qualifier - nazret.com
Ethiopia's Saladin Seid's brace in each half helped his side secure a comfortable 2-0 win over Central African Republic (CAR) on Sunday at the Addis Ababa Stadium in the World Cup Group A qualifier. The win sent the Ethiopian team on top of the group on four points. Beaten CAR are in second place on 3 points followed by South Africa on 2 points and then Botswana on 1 point. All four teams have played two matches so far. It was an evenly balanced game in terms of ball possession in the first half but the Ethiopian side struggled to create chances until Saladin Seid broke the deadlock after receiving an inviting cross from Minyahile Teshome in the 36th minute. Just three minutes earlier Adane Girma narrowly missed the ball from the goal mouth.

Our Plea: Women and Girls from the Central African Republic Turn to the ICC for Justice
www.witness.org | This video is from our partnership with the Women's Initiatives for Gender Justice and JUPEDEC(Jeunesse Unie pour la Protection de l'Environnement et le Développement Communautaire) In it, two courageous young women recount their abduction by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and the rapes, sexual violence and beatings they suffered while in captivity, as well as their life following the return to their communities. In 2005, the ICC issued arrest warrants against Joseph Kony and four other senior LRA commanders for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in Northern Uganda. The following year, Kony and the LRA moved out of Northern Uganda, conducting operations in several neighboring countries including the CAR. Since February 2008, the rebel group has been carrying out attacks in the South-Eastern provinces of the Central African Republic. It is estimated that hundreds of women and girls have been abducted and forcibly recruited by the LRA in attacks against the civilian population of the Central African Republic.

Your nets in Central African Republic
Over the last few months, the UN Foundation's Nothing But Nets campaign has been working with PSI (Population Services International) and our UN partners to get a life-saving bed net to every family in the Central African Republic. Thanks to the hard work and contributions of our supporters and Champion Mandy Moore, we are currently delivering those nets to help protect families from malaria for years to come. In this video, Danwe N'Dikwe of PSI describes his personal experience with malaria, and how working together is the best way to beat this deadly disease. Send a net. Save a life! Together we can cover a continent. Learn more at NothingButNets.net.
